Oceano Campground Introduce
Are you a local resident in search of a convenient "Camping Near Me" option in the Oceano, California area? Oceano Campground, situated at 494 Air Park Dr, Oceano, CA 93445, USA, offers a strategically advantageous location with what recent visitors describe as decent campsites. For those seeking a straightforward camping experience with essential amenities, this county park campground could be a suitable choice.
For local users looking for a nearby camping destination, Oceano Campground is easily accessible. You can contact them for inquiries or reservations at (805) 781-5930 or their mobile number, +1 805-781-5930. While the provided information doesn't delve into extensive details about the campground's environment or specific features, the customer reviews offer some insights into what you can expect during your stay.
One recent reviewer highlighted the "fantastic location" of Oceano Campground. While the specifics of what makes the location fantastic aren't detailed, this suggests that the campground benefits from its proximity to local attractions, natural features, or general accessibility within the Oceano area. For local campers, a prime location often translates to ease of travel and access to familiar or desired points of interest.
The same reviewer also described the campsites as "decent," indicating a level of satisfaction without being overly luxurious. They noted that some sites are "pretty tight," suggesting that space might be limited in certain areas of the campground, particularly for larger vehicles or setups. However, they also mentioned that "others not too bad," implying a variation in site size and spaciousness throughout the campground. If you have specific size requirements for your RV or tent, it might be beneficial to inquire about site dimensions when making a reservation.
In terms of amenities, the reviewer characterized the showers and bathrooms as "what you would expect at a county park"—clean but basic. This suggests that while the essential facilities are maintained and hygienic, they may not offer the additional comforts or modern features found in more privately owned or resort-style campgrounds. Local users familiar with county park facilities will likely have a good understanding of the level of amenities to anticipate.
One practical concern raised by the reviewer pertains to the electrical service. They experienced their 50 amp service repeatedly tripping their surge protector due to voltage levels dropping below the minimum requirement. This issue persisted throughout their two-week stay. While they indicated they would stay at the campground again despite this, it's a factor to be aware of, especially for RVers relying on consistent and stable power for their appliances and systems. It might be prudent to inquire about the electrical infrastructure and potential issues when booking, particularly if you require a specific amperage.
Another brief review mentioned an enjoyable stay that was slightly marred by disruptive neighbors on the final night. However, as the reviewer was checking out anyway, it didn't significantly impact their overall experience. This highlights the variable nature of campground environments, where the behavior of fellow campers can sometimes influence the stay. While the campground itself cannot always control this, it's a common aspect of shared camping spaces.
Based solely on the provided reviews, specific details regarding the natural environment of Oceano Campground are limited. There is no mention of particular features like proximity to beaches, trails, forests, or water bodies directly within the campground description. However, given the name "Oceano Campground" and its location in Oceano, California, it's reasonable to infer a potential proximity to the coast or other natural attractions associated with the area. Local users familiar with Oceano will likely have existing knowledge of the surrounding environment and its offerings.
Similarly, detailed information about specific services or promotional offers is not included in the provided text. We do not know if the campground offers amenities like laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, recreational areas, organized activities, or any discounts for local residents or extended stays. To obtain this information, it would be necessary to visit the campground's website (if available) or contact them directly via phone.
As a county park facility, Oceano Campground likely operates under the regulations and guidelines set forth by the local county parks department. This often means a focus on providing basic infrastructure for camping at reasonable rates. Local users who frequently utilize county parks in the region will likely be familiar with the general policies and procedures.
Given the limited information in the reviews, it's challenging to provide a comprehensive overview of all aspects of Oceano Campground. The reviews primarily focus on the location, campsite quality (varied size), basic amenities (clean but basic bathrooms and showers), and a potential electrical issue. The positive mention of the "fantastic location" suggests a key draw for staying at this campground, likely related to its accessibility within Oceano and potential proximity to local points of interest that would appeal to those seeking "Camping Near Me."
For local users considering Oceano Campground for their next camping trip, it would be beneficial to supplement this information with additional research. Checking online for official county park information, maps, and potentially more recent reviews on other platforms could provide a more complete picture of what to expect. Calling the provided phone number to inquire about site availability, specific amenities, electrical service reliability, and any current regulations or guidelines is also highly recommended.
In conclusion, Oceano Campground appears to be a conveniently located county park offering basic camping facilities in Oceano, California. While some campsites may be tight and there have been reports of electrical service fluctuations, the "fantastic location" seems to be a significant positive aspect. For local users seeking a no-frills "Camping Near Me" option, Oceano Campground is worth considering, with the caveat that further investigation into specific amenities and site details is advisable before booking.

Oceano Campground Reviews
Fantastic location and decent sites. Was concerned staying because no recent reviews, but stayed about 2 weeks and enjoyed it. Some sites pretty tight but others not too bad. Showers and bathrooms are what you would expect at a county park. Clean but basic. Our 50 amp service kept tripping surge protector because it was dropping below minimum levels for some reason. All in all we would stay there again.
Jul 06, 2024 · Scott SchmokWas very enjoyable till some strange neighbors pulled in on my last night. But it was ok I was checking out anyway.
Dec 08, 2024 · Charlene “BabyG” Grossini PaniaguaOur visit to Oceano Campground was marred by an unacceptable incident of racial discrimination. Ranger Bill Brooks woke us up at 9 AM, accused us of squatting, and called the sheriffs to remove us, despite being invited guests. The entire experience was humiliating and racially charged. This campground is not a welcoming place for people of color. Until proper action is taken against such discriminatory behavior, I cannot recommend staying here.
Jul 21, 2024 · Cris VA small (23 sites) quiet, inexpensive, campground within walking distance from the beach. Full hookups and the 50am power is full power. The bathrooms and showers are basic, coin operated (3 minutes per $1) It’s next to a small park with lagoon that is fishable, and paddle-worthy. The only hand-launch is across the road from the campground. Lots to do in this area, just a few minutes away by bicycle or car.
Feb 02, 2023 · Anna L. ContiIt's nice but it gets crowded easily. Only complaint is the park is so small, it's easy to crowd the little road around the park. Fair warning, the park is so small that if anybody is playing loud music into the evening, you're gonna hear it. Airplane noise from the airport is a little startling at first but you get used to it if you stay for a few days.
