North River Campground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in a potentially remote and natural setting, North River Campground, located in Tellico Plains, TN 37385, USA, offers an opportunity for a relaxing camping experience. While specific contact information isn't provided in the given data, the address places this campground within the vicinity of Tellico Plains, an area known for its proximity to the Cherokee National Forest in southeastern Tennessee. This suggests an environment rich in natural beauty and opportunities for outdoor recreation.
The environment surrounding North River Campground is likely characterized by the scenic landscapes of the Cherokee National Forest. This vast protected area encompasses diverse terrain, including mountains, forests, and numerous rivers and streams. Given the campground's name, "North River Campground," it is highly probable that the North River or one of its tributaries flows nearby, enhancing the natural appeal and potentially offering opportunities for water-related activities such as fishing or simply enjoying the riverside ambiance. Campers can likely expect a setting with mature trees providing shade, a tranquil atmosphere away from urban noise, and the sounds of nature. The remoteness mentioned in a customer review suggests a more secluded experience, ideal for those seeking peace and quiet in a natural environment.
While specific details about the services and amenities at North River Campground are not provided in the limited information, campgrounds within national forests typically offer a range of facilities to accommodate campers. These often include:
- Campsites: These can vary to accommodate both tents and RVs. It's important to note that without further information, the availability of hookups (water, electricity, sewer) for RVs is unknown. Campsite sizes and layouts can also vary.
- Restroom facilities: Based on a customer review mentioning a "vault toilet," it is likely that at least some of the restroom facilities are of this more primitive type. Vault toilets are non-flushing and rely on a holding tank. The review's negative experience with the smell suggests that the maintenance and proximity of these facilities might be a consideration for some campers. It is unknown if flush toilets or shower facilities are also available.
- Water sources: Potable water may be available at designated spigots within the campground, but this needs to be confirmed.
- Picnic tables and fire rings: Individual campsites typically include a picnic table for dining and a fire ring for campfires (subject to regulations and fire safety conditions).
- Trash disposal: Designated areas for trash disposal are usually provided to encourage campers to pack out what they pack in and maintain a clean environment.
- Campsite spacing: A positive aspect highlighted in a review is "nice space in between the sites," suggesting that the campground offers a degree of privacy and doesn't feel overly crowded.
To obtain accurate information about the services and amenities offered at North River Campground, local users should seek out official sources such as the Cherokee National Forest website or contact the forest service directly. Information about campsite types, hookups, restroom facilities, water availability, and reservation procedures would be essential for planning a trip.
The features of North River Campground are likely centered around its natural setting and the recreational opportunities afforded by the Cherokee National Forest and its proximity to the North River. The positive review stating, "Absolutely love the North River campground area," suggests that the location itself is highly valued by those who have visited. The potential for riverside activities, hiking in the surrounding forest, wildlife viewing, and enjoying the tranquility of a more remote setting are likely key features. The spaciousness between campsites, as noted in a review, contributes to a more relaxing and private camping experience.
However, the negative feedback regarding the "vault toilet smell" is an important feature that potential visitors should be aware of. While one reviewer stated they would return but stay far from the bathrooms, this highlights a potential drawback for some campers. Depending on individual sensitivity to odors and the layout of the campground, the location of campsites relative to the vault toilets might be a significant factor in the overall camping experience.
Information regarding promotional offers for North River Campground is not provided in the available data. Campgrounds within national forests often have established fees, and discounts might be available for certain groups (e.g., seniors, holders of America the Beautiful passes). To inquire about fees, reservations, and any potential discounts, local users should consult the official website of the Cherokee National Forest or contact the relevant ranger district.
In conclusion, for local users seeking "camping near me" in a potentially remote and naturally beautiful area, North River Campground near Tellico Plains, TN, offers a seemingly appealing option within the Cherokee National Forest. The positive sentiment about the area and the spacious campsites suggest a relaxing experience. However, the significant issue raised regarding the smell from the vault toilets is a crucial consideration for potential visitors. It is highly recommended that local users seek out more detailed information from official sources about the campground's amenities, layout, and any advisories regarding restroom facilities before planning their visit to North River Campground.

North River Campground Reviews
Absolutely love the North River campground area
Oct 08, 2024 · Chris SpearAlthough I enjoyed the remoteness of the location, the vault toilet had such a smell that we couldn’t get away from. We weren’t right by it, but I am guessing too close. We will return to this campground, but will stay far from the bathrooms. Relaxing campground and nice space in between the sites.
Nov 03, 2019 · Susan BrownGreat campground with 🚻, out house style. Pet friendly.
Sep 04, 2023 · marshall deanQuiet camping spot. A favorite. North River runs right by the campsite... great for wading and playing. River itself isn't much more than a stream... about 15 feet across and maybe 18 inches at its deepest. My favorite campsite is the second on the left....Some people will fish here, but I have better luck up and downriver.
Aug 10, 2022 · Tommy AcuffGreat place to camp. Groomed and level trailer/ tent sites right next to the North River.
