Ocala Forest Campground Introduce
For those seeking a "camping near me" experience that offers a more secluded setting, Ocala Forest Campground, located at 26301 SE Hwy 42, Umatilla, FL 32784, USA, might be a consideration. You can contact them at (352) 669-3888 or their mobile number, +1 352-669-3888, for inquiries. Based on the limited recent customer feedback available, it's important to approach this campground with a balanced perspective, noting both the positive and negative comments.
One reviewer described Ocala Forest Campground as an "out of the way rv park," suggesting a location that might offer a quieter and more isolated camping experience, potentially appealing to those looking to escape more crowded campgrounds. This reviewer also noted that "the owner is a real nice gentleman," indicating a potentially positive interaction with the management and a welcoming atmosphere from that perspective.
However, this same reviewer also raised significant concerns regarding safety and the behavior of other individuals at the park. They stated, "But my neighbors want to steal even when I'm home," which is a serious accusation and a significant red flag for potential visitors. Additionally, they mentioned issues with "kids are unsupervised running in the streets and under rv 's," which could pose safety hazards for the children themselves and potentially create disturbances for other campers.
Furthermore, this reviewer reported a problem with the shower facilities, stating that the "shower doesn't get hot no matter what you do or how long you let water run before you get in." The availability of hot water is a basic expectation for most campers, and this feedback suggests a potentially uncomfortable experience with the provided amenities.
Another recent review highlighted a significant issue with navigation within the campground. The reviewer noted that "Most of the RVs didn't have numbers on them so I couldn't find the RV I was looking for." This lack of clear numbering could make it difficult for visitors to locate specific sites, especially when meeting friends or family or when trying to find their own reserved spot. The reviewer requested that the management "Please have them put numbers up somewhere so that's it's easier to navigate through there," indicating a desire for a simple improvement that would enhance the guest experience.
Considering these limited but significant reviews, Ocala Forest Campground presents a mixed picture for those searching for "camping near me." On one hand, the "out of the way" location and the reportedly nice owner might be appealing. However, the serious allegations of attempted theft, concerns about unsupervised children, the issue of cold showers, and the difficulty in navigating due to unmarked RVs are significant drawbacks that potential visitors should carefully consider.
Due to the limited amount of information and the serious nature of the negative feedback, it is difficult to provide a comprehensive introduction to Ocala Forest Campground. There is no information available regarding the specific environment beyond being an "out of the way rv park," nor are there details about services or features typically found at campgrounds, such as hookups, recreational facilities, or planned activities. Additionally, no promotional information is available based on these reviews.
Given the concerns raised in the reviews, it would be prudent for potential visitors to contact Ocala Forest Campground directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about the current conditions, address the issues mentioned in the reviews, and gather more information before making a reservation. It would be beneficial to ask about security measures, rules regarding children's supervision, the status of the shower facilities, and whether there are plans to improve the site numbering for better navigation. Without further information or more positive recent feedback, it is challenging to recommend Ocala Forest Campground without significant reservations. Local users seeking "camping near me" might want to explore other options in the Umatilla area that have received more consistently positive reviews regarding safety, amenities, and overall guest experience.
In conclusion, while Ocala Forest Campground might offer a secluded location and a friendly owner, the available reviews highlight potential safety concerns, issues with basic amenities like hot showers, and navigational challenges. Potential campers should weigh these factors carefully and consider seeking additional information before making a decision. It is crucial to prioritize safety and comfort when choosing a campground, and the current feedback suggests that Ocala Forest Campground may not meet the expectations of all campers without further improvements and assurances.

Dec 28, 2024 · Tasha KiserMany nasty permanent residents with nasty TVs. Police are in all the time, due to drunks, disturbances, etc. Won't stay there again.
Mar 02, 2025 · Nancy LongworthCamped out a long weekend and was a nice stay. It's a bit of a drive off the main highway, but nothing too bad. The bath house was clean and had plenty of hot water. The staff was friendly as well as the neighbors.
Jan 29, 2025 · Outdoors With ShawnIt's a campground, what do you expect? Even if it were just a Shack with no power I'd still give it a 5 star. It's a campground. The only reason I gave the service a 4 star is because the wifi was God awful and I have AT&T and I had better luck getting service on the moon. But once again, it's a campground, what do you expect.
