When exploring "camping near me" in US, if peace and quiet are important to you, look for campgrounds that mention quiet hours or have policies in place to minimize noise. Reviews from other campers can also provide insights into the campground's noise levels.
The availability of firewood for sale at the campground, priced reasonably, is a convenient service for campers who plan to have campfires. When exploring campgrounds near you in US, look for information or reviews that comment on the cleanliness of the restrooms, showers, and dishwashing areas.
One reviewer noted that the campsites in their section were "very close together and rocky," recommending bringing an air mattress for comfort. Another mentioned that if their site had been level and grassy instead of gravel, it would have been a 5-star experience, also noting that "Site 25 looked nice, grassy, flat." This indicates variability in campsite conditions within the campground. When booking a campsite at a campground near you in US, if possible, inquire about the specific characteristics of different sites, such as size, levelness, ground cover (grass, gravel, etc.), and proximity to other sites, to choose one that best suits your needs and preferences.
The mention of a nearby "electrical substation noise" in other reviews (though not heard by one reviewer) suggests a potential environmental factor to be aware of. Additionally, the unexpected gathering of the "Mass Hells Angels" at their nearby clubhouse one morning highlights the possibility of occasional external factors influencing the campground's ambiance. While these specific situations might not be directly applicable to campgrounds in US, it's always wise to be aware that unforeseen events can sometimes occur. Reading a range of recent reviews can sometimes provide insights into the typical atmosphere and any potential external factors.
The positive experience of a 4-mile "lovely walk on well-maintained trail" within the state forest further emphasizes the hiking opportunities available. When considering "camping near me" in US, look for campgrounds that offer access to well-maintained hiking trails, allowing you to explore the surrounding natural beauty.
In conclusion, October Mountain State Forest Campground in Massachusetts offers a natural setting with beautiful sites and hiking opportunities, along with clean facilities and friendly staff, and convenient access to Tanglewood. However, potential campers should be aware of potentially rough roads within the campground, varying trail difficulty, and the possibility of rocky or uneven campsites. October Mountain State Forest Campground Reviews
Some beautiful sites, including Felton Pond. Roads are rather rough, 4-wheel drive helpful. Ratings of trails don't necessarily reflect actual difficulty. We hiked a trail marked easy and found ourselves watching the group about 50% of the time for roots and rocks. Additionally a phone app showed the trail the equivalent of climbing 11 flights of stairs
Oct 26, 2024 · Sandy MillerCamped here July 19 for visit to Tanglewood. Based on my 1 day, I definitely recommend. We were at site 28. In that section, sites were very close together and rocky so bring an air mattress. Despite almost the whole campground occupied, there was peace and quiet. There is a no booze policy which probably helps. Wood is for sale at the campground, priced reasonably. Friendly helpful staff. The bathrooms were very clean, one shower stall in the ladies facility near us. Also has a very nice dishwashing station with hand spray attachment; fancy. I never heard the electrical substation noise mentioned in other reviews, however around 9am the Mass Hells Angels were convening at their nearby clubhouse. Which everyone heard. The campground is about a 15 minute drive to Tanglewood, very convenient. We drove into the state forest and hiked the Mt Washington “lake” loop. About 4 miles, lovely walk on well-maintained trail. If the site were level, and grassy instead of gravel it would be 5 stars. Site 25 looked nice, grassy, flat.
Jul 22, 2024 · Julie RepassTwo adults and five children stayed on two tent sites within walking distance of the bathrooms. We never heard the hum of the electric station and had a wonderful time. The facilities were kept in great shape. I really appreciated the clean bathrooms and the ability to wash dishes in the dishwashing sink. The campsites were gorgeous and well laid out. The hiking trails were wonderful. We drove to a nearby Lee sandy beach at Laurel lake for access to that beautiful swimming beach with the dock. It was just wonderful.Yurt update: 1 adult and 5 kids stayed in yurt 2. Multiple rain storms with no leaks. Plenty of room for gear. It was really nice not worrying about rain filled tents and I was able to pack and set up less. More time for fun.
Jul 03, 2019 · Mia McDonaldThis "campground" is just a bunch of parking spaces with picnic tables. There is zero privacy. Some campsites are literal gravel patches next to the bathroom. That said, it was very clean! It was cheap! It was quiet! We could hear the power station from site 24 but it wasn't loud or bothersome.
Aug 10, 2020 · Miz FrizzleGreat little quiet campground.First time back in decades, and I instantly remembered why we stayed.Real flushing toilets, hot and cold water shower , drinkable water , dish washing station.Lots of hiking trails on the mountain..Other amenities are close by.5 minutes from tanglewood.
