Paradise Acres Campgrounds Introduce
For local users in Texas seeking a unique and secluded "camping near me" experience, Paradise Acres Campgrounds, located at 8982 Cooks Rd in Calvert, TX (77837), offers a promising retreat. Based on glowing reviews from recent visitors, this campground provides a beautiful and peaceful environment, ideal for those looking to escape the noise and bustle of everyday life and immerse themselves in nature. While it's important to note the primitive nature of the facilities, the overall experience appears to be exceptionally positive, thanks in large part to the responsive and engaging host, Chris.
The environment at Paradise Acres Campgrounds is consistently described as "beautiful" and "secluded." Situated away from nearby houses and loud traffic, it offers a genuine sense of tranquility and privacy. One reviewer specifically mentioned staying next to a pond, indicating that water features are part of the landscape, potentially enhancing the scenic beauty and providing opportunities for wildlife observation. The presence of fallen wood suggests a natural, wooded area where campfires are permitted and easily facilitated. The seclusion of the location allows for a more immersive outdoor experience, where the sounds of nature are likely to be the dominant soundtrack.
In terms of services, Paradise Acres Campgrounds operates as a "carry-in, carry-out facility," which is a crucial point for potential visitors. This explicitly means that there are no restrooms or showers provided on-site, requiring campers to be self-sufficient in these regards. However, the reviews highlight exceptional service from the host, Chris. One guest who had trouble locating the property noted that Chris answered immediately and was "very responsive and helpful" in providing directions. Another reviewer emphasized that Chris "pulled out all the stops" to ensure their family had an enjoyable time, even engaging in activities with the children like teaching them to shoot a crossbow and setting up a potato gun. This level of personalized and enthusiastic hosting seems to be a significant draw of Paradise Acres Campgrounds.
Features of Paradise Acres Campgrounds contribute to its unique appeal. The availability of fire pit rings near the pond allows for cozy evenings under the stars, with ample natural fuel readily available. The pond itself appears to be a central feature, offering opportunities for observing local wildlife, as one family enjoyed watching and chasing frogs. The open environment seems conducive to relaxation, with one reviewer mentioning their children enjoying reading in hammocks. The unexpected visit from a friendly German Shepherd added a charming and memorable touch to one family's stay. The modest price point mentioned by one reviewer also suggests that Paradise Acres Campgrounds offers good value for those seeking a peaceful and engaging outdoor experience without the need for extensive facilities.
While the reviews do not explicitly mention any specific promotional information, the overwhelmingly positive sentiment and the host's proactive engagement in ensuring guests have a great time could be considered a significant draw in itself. The willingness of Chris to go above and beyond, as evidenced by the crossbow and potato gun activities, suggests a commitment to guest satisfaction that might be rare in more conventional campgrounds. Local users seeking a memorable and personalized "camping near me" experience might find the unique hospitality at Paradise Acres to be a compelling reason to choose this location.
Given the "carry-in, carry-out" nature of the campground and the lack of traditional amenities like restrooms and showers, Paradise Acres Campgrounds is best suited for campers who are comfortable with a more primitive camping style and are prepared to be self-sufficient. However, the trade-off appears to be a beautiful, secluded environment and exceptional host interaction. For local users equipped for this type of camping, the positive reviews suggest a highly rewarding experience.
To get the most current information and to make a booking, contacting Chris directly via the provided phone numbers – (512) 655-3289 or mobile +1 512-655-3289 – is recommended. Inquiring about campsite availability, any specific guidelines or rules for campers, and whether there are any seasonal considerations would be beneficial. While the reviews highlight the pond area, asking about other potential camping spots on the property might also be worthwhile, depending on individual preferences for seclusion and environment.
In conclusion, Paradise Acres Campgrounds offers local users a unique "camping near me" option characterized by its beautiful seclusion, natural environment with a pond, and exceptionally welcoming host, Chris. While the absence of restrooms and showers requires campers to be prepared for a primitive experience, the positive reviews emphasize the tranquility of the location and the fun, engaging interactions with the host. For those seeking a peaceful and memorable outdoor getaway near Calvert, TX, and who are comfortable with self-sufficient camping, Paradise Acres Campgrounds appears to be a hidden gem worth considering. The modest price point further adds to its appeal for those seeking a high-quality experience without breaking the bank.

Paradise Acres Campgrounds Reviews
I booked a site last minute while traveling through, and I'm so glad I did!It is a beautiful, secluded place with no houses nearby or loud traffic.Where I stayed next to the pond, there were a few firepit rings and plenty of fallen wood to make a nice toasty fire.I'm so grateful to have come across such a place to stay for the evening, and I would definitely stay longer if I could.A few things to note- there are no restrooms or showers. It is a carry-in, carry-out facility. I had a little trouble locating the property ( I'll include a photo of the entrance).Chris answered right away and was very responsive and helpful, helping me to locate the entrance.Thank you Chris for the peaceful stay and at such a modest price. Much gratitude 🙏🏼
Feb 02, 2024 · Sarah LucketteWhat an incredible campground!!! If I could give it more than 5 stars I would! My family and I spent several days here and had an absolute blast. Our host, Chris was responsive and pulled out all the stops to make sure we had an enjoyable time. He taught my boys how to shoot a cross bow and we even broke out the potato gun. My boys loved chasing frogs around the pond and reading in their hammocks. We will always remember the super friendly German Shepard that came around to visit! Thanks for some incredible memories Chris!
