Park Place of the North Introduce
Looking for the perfect "camping near me" experience in the scenic Upper Peninsula of Michigan? Look no further than Park Place of the North, located at E4575 M-35, Escanaba, MI 49829, USA. While it might not boast the modern updates of a state park, this campground offers a unique charm and a genuinely pleasant stay, according to numerous visitors. You can reach them at (906) 786-0018 or their mobile number, +1 906-786-0018.
What truly sets Park Place of the North apart is the dedication of its owners. Reviewers consistently praise their efforts to ensure every guest has a comfortable and enjoyable visit. One camper described them as going "out of their way" to be helpful, a sentiment echoed by others who appreciated the personal touch and the evening check-ins.
The ambiance of the campground is another highlight. Despite its basic nature, Park Place of the North exudes a certain charm. Guests have noted the "cute" office and the delightful flower beds and decorations scattered throughout the grounds, adding a touch of home and care to the natural setting. This attention to detail creates a welcoming and aesthetically pleasing environment that goes beyond the purely functional aspects of a typical campground.
For those prioritizing cleanliness and safety, Park Place of the North delivers. The restrooms are consistently described as "clean and well maintained." Furthermore, the added security of locked combination doors provides campers with peace of mind during their stay. This focus on the essentials ensures a comfortable and secure experience for all visitors.
Families with children will appreciate the presence of a small playground. While the equipment might be older ("Play at own risk" is mentioned), it still offers a dedicated space for kids to burn off some energy and enjoy outdoor play. This amenity, though perhaps not state-of-the-art, adds to the campground's appeal for those traveling with young ones.
Convenience is also a factor at Park Place of the North. Situated across the street, campers will find a bar and restaurant that reportedly features a salad bar and excellent fish dinners on weekends. This proximity offers a convenient option for meals without having to travel far from the campground. Additionally, for those needing to take care of laundry, the campground provides a washer and a small dryer located by the restrooms.
Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the access to a nearby, albeit "non developed," beach. While the path to the beach is described as a "2 track," it offers the opportunity for a leisurely walk and access to the water. One reviewer noted the potential of the park if lakefront sites were developed and the water and beach area were improved, suggesting that even in its current state, the natural surroundings hold appeal.
In terms of amenities for different types of campers, Park Place of the North offers sites with sewer and water hookups, particularly near the restrooms and laundry facilities. This is a significant convenience for RV campers. While one tent site is mentioned as being closer to the lake, there's an indication that expanding and improving lakefront sites could further enhance the campground's desirability.
Some aspects of the campground, as mentioned in the reviews, could benefit from updates. These include the signage, the entrance, picnic tables, and water pressure at some sites. There was also a mention of some sites being marked "closed permanently" despite being operational, which could lead to confusion. Addressing these areas could elevate the overall guest experience.
Despite these minor points, the overwhelming sentiment from visitors is positive, largely due to the friendly owners and the overall welcoming atmosphere. The "roomy, green" sites and the occasional sighting of deer add to the natural charm of the location. While one reviewer noted the presence of ants (though not a major bother), this is a common occurrence in outdoor settings and something the owners might consider addressing.
For local users searching for "camping near me," Park Place of the North offers a unique blend of affordability, friendly service, and natural beauty in the Escanaba area. It might not have all the bells and whistles of a modern, fully updated campground, but its charm lies in its simplicity and the genuine care provided by its owners. If you value a welcoming atmosphere, clean facilities, and a convenient location with access to both nature and nearby amenities, Park Place of the North is definitely worth considering for your next camping trip.
In summary, Park Place of the North provides a basic yet charming camping experience characterized by:
- Friendly and helpful owners who go the extra mile for their guests.
- Clean and well-maintained restrooms with added security features.
- A small playground for children.
- Pleasant surroundings with flower beds and decorations.
- Convenient location across from a restaurant and with laundry facilities.
- Access to a nearby beach.
- Sites with sewer and water hookups available.
While some areas could use updating, the positive aspects, particularly the hospitality and cleanliness, make Park Place of the North a noteworthy option for those seeking a "camping near me" experience with a personal touch in the Escanaba, Michigan area. Park Place of the North Reviews
The campground is pretty basic, but the owners go out of their way to make sure your stay is pleasant! The office is cute, and throughout the campground there are flower beds and decorations that make it so charming! The restrooms are clean and well maintained. They also have locked combination doors, so you feel pretty safe. A small playground gave the kids something to do. The owners drove through in the evening to check on everyone. Such a great place to stay!
Aug 07, 2018 · Kelly HeffronAcross the street from a bar restaurant that has a salad bar & great fish dinners on the weekends. Don't be misled by the primitive signage & 2 track entrance. It's not updated like a state park, but it has a site with sewer & water by the restrooms & laundry (one washer & small dryer. We walked to the beach, which is a 2 track & non developed. When this park makes lake sites (only one tent site) ..and cleans up the water & beach.. this park will be more sought after. Also, if the sites are updated, with new picnic tables, better water pressure, and better advertising. On some sites it says "closed permanently" but it isn't. They are nice people living within sight. Roomy, green, and deer. They need to treat for ants, which really aren't a bother. Old playground equipment. Play at own risk. Clean restrooms with new curtains, and a push lock.
Aug 04, 2024 · denice$50.00 for "TENT CAMPING!"A private cozy place to camp or RV for the night. Within walking distance to the beach with nature trails to take photos of wildlife.Electricity to plug in, showers to freshen up and a laundry room available at the front office.Very expensive for tent camping. There are state campsites for half the price with waterfront views not far away.
Jul 20, 2024 · Jennifer BzozaNice campground operated by friendly owners. It is well kept up and clean. I appreciated the nightly group campfire that offers the campers to make connections. It is a short walk to the following; a bar/grill with good food, a small grocery store, Lake Michigan, and the Ford River. My only criticism is that It is a little close to a 50 mph highway M35 but it isn't bad.
Jul 03, 2019 · Kris RademacherThe owners are awesome people!! It is a very relaxing place to stay.
