Situated near Parksville Lake and the renowned Ocoee River area, this campground offers a convenient base for exploring the stunning landscapes and engaging in a variety of recreational pursuits. Reviews from recent visitors highlight the friendly service, well-maintained facilities, and the abundance of hiking opportunities in the vicinity.
The environment surrounding Parksville Lake RV Campground is a major draw for outdoor enthusiasts. The area is described as being "one of our favorite areas to visit" due to its rich natural offerings. Notably, it is "abundant with hiking of all kinds, from easy to difficult," catering to a wide range of skill levels and preferences. Campers can look forward to discovering "lots of trails tucked away off the sides of the road," promising opportunities for both leisurely strolls and more challenging treks into the wilderness. The reviewers consistently praise the "views in the area" as being "some of the best in the state," suggesting that campers will be treated to breathtaking scenic vistas throughout their stay and while exploring the surrounding trails.
Parksville Lake itself, being in close proximity to the campground, offers additional recreational opportunities. One reviewer mentioned that "catching the sunrise on the lake just outside the campground is well worth waking up early," highlighting the serene beauty of the lake and its accessibility to campers. While specific lake activities aren't detailed in these reviews, it's reasonable to assume possibilities for fishing, kayaking, or simply enjoying the waterfront scenery. The nearby Ocoee River is also a significant attraction in the region, known for its whitewater rafting and scenic river gorges, offering more adventurous options for those seeking them.
In terms of the campground's facilities, one reviewer noted that "while it could still use some updating, the facility is still kept stocked and clean." This provides an objective assessment, acknowledging that while the campground might not be brand new, the essential aspects of cleanliness and availability of supplies are maintained to a good standard. This is crucial for a comfortable and hygienic camping experience. The sites themselves are described as "well setup and have enough space to be comfortable," indicating that RVers can expect reasonably sized and organized sites to accommodate their vehicles and setup their camping arrangements without feeling cramped.
The hospitality at Parksville Lake RV Campground receives positive feedback. One reviewer specifically mentioned that the "camp hostess was friendly and helpful," enhancing the overall experience with their positive attitude and willingness to assist campers. Another reviewer, who stayed for six days, praised the "couple that were there during our stay" as "fantastic," noting their friendly greetings, helpful dinner recommendations, and the fact that they kept the "restrooms/showers pristine." This consistency in positive remarks about the hosts suggests a welcoming and well-managed campground environment.
For pet owners, it's important to note that there were "lots of pets on-site," and campers are advised to "be sure to keep yours leashed." This indicates that the campground is pet-friendly, which is a significant plus for those who travel with their furry companions. However, responsible pet ownership, including keeping pets leashed, is emphasized to ensure the safety and comfort of all campers and wildlife.
An important environmental factor to be aware of is that there has been "a lot of storm damage-downed trees all over the area." While one reviewer assures that "everything is open and functioning," they also note that "it will be some time before it returns to normal." This suggests that while the campground is operational, the surrounding landscape might still show signs of recent storm impact. However, the underlying beauty of the area remains, and the functionality of the campground is not compromised.
The location of Parksville Lake RV Campground also offers convenient access to nearby towns and cities. Both "Cleveland and Chattanooga" are mentioned as being "close by," providing opportunities for day trips to explore urban amenities, attractions, and dining options. This accessibility to larger towns adds to the appeal of the campground, offering a balance between natural retreat and access to city conveniences.
One unique feature mentioned is that "the perimeter sites have a creek running behind them." Creek-side camping is often highly sought after for the soothing sounds of flowing water and the added sense of natural immersion. If available, these perimeter sites at Parksville Lake RV Campground could offer an enhanced camping experience for those who appreciate a waterfront setting.

Parksville Lake RV Campground Reviews
We stayed here for several days in March of 2023. While it could still use some updating, the facility is still kept stocked and clean. The camp hostess was friendly and helpful. This is still one of our favorite areas to visit because the surrounding area is abundant with hiking of all kinds, from easy to difficult. Lots of trails tucked away off the sides of the road. The views in the area are some of the best in the state. The sites are well setup and have enough space to be comfortable. There were actually black bears in the area and lots of pets on-site, be sure to keep yours leashed. Sadly there is a lot of storm damage-downed trees all over the area. It's still beautiful, but it will be some time before it returns to normal. Everything is open and functioning. Be sure to visit Cleveland and Chattanooga, both are close by.
Dec 27, 2024 · Chris MWe stayed 6 days starting 3/6/23. I've seen complaints of the host, but the couple that were there during our stay were fantastic. They said hello when they saw us, but never intruded. They also gave us some dinner recommendations in town when we asked them and they kept them restrooms/showers pristine. The campsite is great, the perimeter sites have a creek running behind them. The dam is nearby and catching the sunrise on the lake just outside the campground is well worth waking up early.
Jul 30, 2024 · Charlie MikeBeautiful location...easy to get to ...no real cell service...no water at sites so fill up as you arrive ..restrooms are clean with showers ...absolutely a great place.
Oct 24, 2024 · J BLove the place and am here quite often when able. But honestly the online reservations should be limited and make the place first come first serve. Cuz the place is never available due to being reserved and 90 percent of those cancel or don't show and u can't see that and the campground is empty on those spaces for that reason when someone else could take the spot in place but can't. That goes for any campground.
Apr 22, 2025 · tony freemanWe just spent three nights here and so hope that next time we have at least a week! This time of year seeing the blossoming white Dogwoods, wild pink Azaleas, Spicebush, just to name a few, was so pleasant. We really appreciated the campground hosts’, Nancy and Rob, recommendations of sites to see such as Dry Falls in Highlands and Benton Falls.
