Perch Lake Campground Introduce
For local residents in the Elcho, Wisconsin area, and those seeking a brand-new "camping near me" experience immersed in nature, Perch Lake Campground, located at N 10571, Clear Lake Rd, Elcho, WI 54462, USA, offers a promising retreat. Opened to the public in June 2023, this county-invested campground boasts a picturesque setting with two beautiful lakes and a rustic charm. Based on recent customer reviews, Perch Lake Campground provides a fantastic opportunity to escape and reconnect with nature, offering a blend of lakeside recreation and woodland tranquility.
The "environment" of Perch Lake Campground is a significant draw, featuring two stunning lakes fully encompassed by the property. These lakes are ideal for a variety of activities, including "fishing, kayaking/canoeing, or swimming," providing ample opportunities for water-based recreation. The surrounding woods create a perfect escape into nature, offering a sense of peace and seclusion. For tent campers, specific lakeside sites (24-29) are highly recommended for their proximity to the water, while site 36 is noted for its enhanced privacy and seclusion. The campground also features numerous hiking paths and hikable logging roads throughout the property, catering to those who enjoy exploring on foot. While most of these trails are not yet formally mapped or signed, they offer a sense of adventure and the chance to discover the natural beauty of the area. One reviewer also recommends taking a picture on the back deck overlooking Lake Aninnan behind a big red building, suggesting a scenic viewpoint within the campground.
In terms of "services," Perch Lake Campground offers a mix of rustic and modern amenities. For restroom facilities, there are "well-built pit toilets easily accessible from all sites," catering to the more traditional camping experience. Additionally, a short walk to the front of the campground provides access to "five flush toilets and individual shower stalls," offering a more comfortable option. The campground features well-maintained roads that appear to be built for durability. Each campsite is equipped with "new firepits and picnic tables," enhancing the camping experience. Drinking water is also available, although the specific locations are not detailed in the reviews. While one early visitor noted that the showers were not yet open in June 2023, it is reasonable to expect these facilities to be operational now or in the near future. The provision of both pit and flush toilets, along with individual showers, indicates a commitment to catering to different comfort levels among campers.
The "features" of Perch Lake Campground are numerous and appealing. The presence of two beautiful lakes for various water activities is a primary feature. The rustic charm of the campsites contributes to the natural ambiance. The availability of specific lakeside and private tent sites caters to different preferences. The newness of the campground, having opened in June 2023, means that many of the facilities, such as the vault toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables, are brand new. The potential for growth and development at the waterfront, picnic site, and former scout buildings hints at future enhancements to the campground experience. The numerous hiking paths and logging roads offer opportunities for exploration and enjoying the natural surroundings. While some sites offer ample surrounding vegetation and spacing for privacy, others are more open, so campers should consider this when selecting a site. Perch Lake itself is noted as swimmable at the boat landing, although the bottom is not a perfect hard sand.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Elcho area, Perch Lake Campground presents a fantastic new option for escaping into nature. The combination of beautiful lakes for recreation, the rustic charm of the campsites, and the new facilities make it an attractive destination. Tent campers will appreciate the recommended lakeside and private sites. The availability of both pit and flush toilets, along with showers (likely now operational), provides a range of comfort levels. The hiking opportunities add another dimension to the camping experience. However, local users should be aware that lakeside sites, while desirable, come at a higher price ($35 per night for a non-electric site, as noted in June 2023), with minimal price breaks for off-lake tent sites. Also, privacy varies between campsites, with some being more open than others. The bright lights on the vault toilets, while functional, might impact stargazing for some visitors.
The overwhelmingly positive initial reviews serve as strong "promotional information" for Perch Lake Campground. The description of it as a "fantastic time" and "the perfect place to escape and reconnect with nature" highlights its appeal for those seeking tranquility. The mention of the beautiful lakes and the opportunities for fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and swimming further enhances its attractiveness. The newness of the campground and the county's investment suggest a well-maintained and developing facility. To further promote Perch Lake Campground to local users, highlighting the pristine lake environment, the new facilities, the variety of campsite options (including lakeside and private), and the hiking opportunities would be effective. Emphasizing the ongoing development and potential future amenities could also generate excitement. Given the price point for lakeside sites, showcasing the value proposition in terms of location and amenities would be important. Encouraging early visits while it remains relatively undiscovered could also attract those seeking a peaceful getaway.

Perch Lake Campground Reviews
Just got back from a two-night stay at the new Perch Lake Campground and I had a fantastic time. These woods are the perfect place to escape and reconnect with nature. There are two beautiful lakes fully encompassed by the property which are great for fishing, kayaking/canoeing, or swimming. The sites have a rustic charm to them - if you're tent camping, you can't go wrong with sites 24-29 by the lake, or check out site 36 for a nice, private, secluded place to set up.There are well-built pit toilets easily accessible from all sites, as well as five flush toilets and individual shower stalls a short walk to the front of the campground. The roads look great and are seemingly built to last, with new firepits and picnic tables are in each site. The county has already put a solid investment into this place and you can see the opportunities for growth at the waterfront, picnic site, former scout buildings and more. I'm very excited to see what they do with the place in the coming months and years.Be sure to take your picture on the back deck overlooking Lake Aninnan behind the big red building before you leave!
Jul 22, 2023 · Justin JabsA brand new campground just opened to the public June 2023. Several very nice lakeside sites are among the 50-some sites here.On its first night open, there were no other campsites occupied. This may remain a peaceful place to camp for a while until more visitors find out about it.At $35 per night, our lakeside site here was by far the most I've paid to camp in a non-electric site anywhere in Wisconsin. Only a couple off-lake sites designated for tents cost less, and the price break for those is minimal.Vault toilets, fire rings and picnic tables are all brand new. It's evident the county put a good sum of money into this place and I'm sure the fees are set accordingly.A handful of sites offer ample surrounding vegetation and spacing for privacy. Many other sites are completely open to neighboring sites and lack any privacy whatsoever.Showers weren't open yet when I visited. Bright lights on the outside of vault toilets are not aimed downward and ruin an otherwise good setting for stargazing in the campground. There are numerous hiking paths and hikable logging roads throughout the property, though most aren't formally mapped or signed yet.Perch Lake is swimmable at the boat landing, though not a perfect hard sand bottom.Overall the county looks to have made a great investment here for locals and visitors alike.
