Pine Crest Campground Introduce
For local users in the Windsor, New York area, or those searching for "camping near me" in the broader region, Pine Crest Campground, located at 280 NY-79, Windsor, NY 13865, USA, presents itself as an option for RV camping and potentially other forms of camping. You can contact them at (607) 655-1515 or their mobile number +1 607-655-1515. Based on recent customer reviews, Pine Crest Campground offers some notable amenities, including an indoor swimming pool and a general store with ice cream, as well as trails and golf cart usage. However, it's important for prospective campers to be aware of mixed feedback regarding the quality of the campsites, the condition of the access road, and the overall value proposition compared to the pricing.
The Environment and Setting
Pine Crest Campground is situated in Windsor, New York, which is part of Broome County in the southern tier of the state. This region is known for its rolling hills, forests, and rural landscapes. While the reviews don't offer extensive details about the immediate environment of the campground itself, the presence of trees is implied in one negative review, which mentions parking on grass covered tree roots. This suggests a setting with some natural tree cover, which can provide shade and a more traditional camping feel. The availability of "fine trails" indicates that the campground or its surrounding area offers opportunities for walking, hiking, or other forms of nature exploration. The overall ambiance would likely be that of a rural campground in upstate New York.
However, one reviewer noted that the road leading to the campground for about a quarter of a mile is a dirt road and is described as "very rough" and "very dusty," with concerns about what it would be like in rainy conditions. This is a significant environmental factor that potential visitors should consider, as it could impact the travel experience to and from the campground, as well as the cleanliness of vehicles and gear.
Services and Amenities Offered
Despite some concerns about the campsite quality, Pine Crest Campground does offer several amenities that are positively highlighted in the reviews:
- Indoor Swimming Pool: The presence of a "wonderful, indoor swimming pool" is a significant feature, providing a recreational option for guests regardless of the weather. An indoor pool can be particularly appealing for families and those looking for year-round swimming opportunities.
- General Store with Ice Cream: A "great general store with ice cream" offers convenience for campers to purchase essentials, snacks, and enjoy a treat. The availability of a store on-site can be very beneficial, reducing the need to travel for basic supplies.
- Trails: The mention of "fine trails" suggests that the campground provides or has access to walking or hiking paths, allowing guests to explore the natural surroundings and engage in outdoor exercise.
- Golf Carts: The availability of "golf carts" implies a way for guests to navigate the campground, which could be useful for those with mobility issues or for simply getting around the property more easily. It also suggests that the campground might be somewhat spread out.
Based on the negative review mentioning seasonal campers with "shoddy additions," it's possible that the campground offers seasonal site rentals, which might come with varying levels of amenities or modifications made by the long-term occupants. However, the specifics of these are not detailed.
Standard campground services such as restroom facilities, water access, and waste disposal are typically expected, but are not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. Similarly, information about potential RV hookups (electric, water, sewer) is not specified, although the positive review refers to it as an "RV Park," suggesting that such amenities are likely available.
Features and Highlights
The standout features of Pine Crest Campground appear to be the indoor swimming pool and the general store with ice cream, providing both recreational and convenience aspects to a stay. The trails offer opportunities for outdoor activity, and the golf carts add a unique element for transportation within the campground.
However, the negative review points out some significant drawbacks that could be considered features of a less desirable nature:
- Poor Campsite Quality: Parking on "grass covered tree roots" without even a gravel base suggests that some or all campsites might be uneven, potentially muddy in wet conditions, and uncomfortable.
- Rough and Dusty Access Road: The dirt road leading to the campground is described as rough and dusty, which could detract from the overall experience, especially upon arrival and departure.
- Overpriced for Quality: One reviewer felt that the cost of camping did not align with the quality of the facilities and campsites offered.
- Prevalence of Seasonal Campers with Shoddy Additions: The observation of many seasonal campers with what are described as "shoddy additions" might impact the aesthetic appeal of the campground and potentially the overall atmosphere for short-term visitors.
These contrasting points highlight the importance of considering both the positive amenities and the potential drawbacks when evaluating Pine Crest Campground.
Lack of Promotional Information
The provided customer reviews do not contain any information about specific promotions, discounts, or special offers that Pine Crest Campground might be running. Local users interested in potential deals or seasonal rates would need to contact the campground directly to inquire about such information.
Similarly, there is no mention of booking procedures, cancellation policies, or any specific rules or regulations for the campground in the reviews. This information would typically be obtained when contacting the campground directly or through their official website if one exists.
"Camping Near Me": A Balanced Perspective on Pine Crest Campground
For local users in the Windsor, NY, area searching for "camping near me," Pine Crest Campground offers some appealing amenities, particularly the indoor swimming pool and the convenience of a general store with ice cream. The presence of trails and golf carts also suggests opportunities for recreation and easy movement around the property. As an "RV Park," it likely provides the necessary hookups for recreational vehicles.
However, it is crucial to consider the negative feedback regarding the campsite quality, the rough and dusty access road, and the perception of being overpriced for the value received. The apparent prevalence of seasonal campers with potentially unkempt setups might also influence the overall aesthetic and atmosphere of the campground for short-term visitors.
Prospective campers, especially those in tents or those sensitive to road conditions and campsite quality, should weigh these factors carefully. If an indoor pool and a general store are high priorities, and if the potential issues with the campsites and access road are less of a concern, Pine Crest Campground might still be a viable option.
To make an informed decision, local users are strongly encouraged to contact Pine Crest Campground directly at the provided phone numbers. Inquire about the types of campsites available (including whether gravel pads are available), the condition of the access road, the amenities offered, and the pricing structure. It might also be helpful to ask for recent photos of the campsites to get a better understanding of their quality. Reading additional reviews on other platforms could also provide a more comprehensive picture of the overall guest experience at Pine Crest Campground.
Ultimately, whether Pine Crest Campground is the right choice for your "camping near me" needs will depend on your individual priorities and tolerance for the potential drawbacks mentioned in the customer feedback. A balanced approach, considering both the positive amenities and the reported issues, is essential when evaluating this camping option in Windsor, NY.

Pine Crest Campground Reviews
Just an " ok" campground. Overpriced for the quality of camping. Site didn't even have as much as a gravel base, parked on grass covered tree roots. Appears most campers are seasonal with a lot of shoddy additions. The road in is dirt and very rough for about a 1/4 mile. Very dusty. Can't imagine what it's like if raining.
Apr 23, 2025 · Don WoodRV Park. Wonderful, indoor swimming pool! Great general store with ice cream. Fine trails and golf carts.
Apr 23, 2025 · Kim GuymonI will start off by mentioning that the Owners, Jim and Susan, are absolutely one of the kindest people we've ever met. They go way above and beyond to take care of you, your family and anything that you could possibly need.My family and friends stayed here for about a couple months and we had some minor problems with our 5th wheels. Jim and Bobby, their helper, came to the rescue each and every time to help and lend a hand. I am so grateful there are still wonderful people like them left in this crazy world. We had so much with the activities they had planned for the fall. We participated in the Chili cookoff and my Mom won 1st place. Hay rides for the family and kids in October. Fun and spacious playground and basketball court. Beautiful views and tranquility. They just expanded and have more sites available. Settled right up against the river where you can kayak, paddle board, or take your boat. We spend so many days by the water where my son loved throwing rocks in the water. This is a little gem. It is safe and people/campers are always friendly. Full hookups even off season. Open all year round.Thank you Jim, Susan, and Bobby! We will see you again soon

Sep 28, 2024 · Beth McCarthyPine Crest RV park was a very nice, quaint little park. We stayed for a week and was very pleased with the park and the friendliness of everyone there. The owner met us as we pulled in so we did not have to drive all the way back to the office, which is in the middle of the park. He escorted us right to our spot and made sure we had everything to hook up with, we needed a splitter to hook up to the sewage system, and the owner went and took care of that for us. There was Ice available 24/7 at the office in a chest freezer out front, just open the freezer and leave the money for the ice in the jar inside.Every day as the owner was taking the trash from the drop off area the the big dumpsters at the entrance to the park he would ask if we needed anything and asked if our stay was going well. The road into the park is gravel and did have a few potholes but it wasn’t too bad. There are a lot of rv’s that are there set up for full time seasonal but for the most part they were well kept. The pool was well kept and very clean. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would definitely visit there again.
