For those searching for "camping near me," Pleasant Lake Campground presents itself as a potentially accessible option. The campground boasts a location near Pleasant Lake, suggesting opportunities for water-related activities. One reviewer mentioned the fun atmosphere and appreciated the presence of an "old wooden castle jungle gym," highlighting it as a great feature, especially for families with children, and expressing hope for its continued maintenance. The same reviewer also noted the proximity to the lake and the convenience of an on-site store, which can be valuable for campers needing supplies.
However, it's important to consider all feedback when making your decision. Another reviewer expressed extreme dissatisfaction, stating they would give a "0 star" rating if possible and advised others to "stay at own risk," indicating significant issues were encountered during their stay.
This negative review provided specific details regarding the condition of the facilities. The cleanliness of the washrooms was a major concern, with claims that daily cleaning was not evident. The reviewer described the facilities as "disgusting" and provided photographic evidence to support their claims. Issues with the showers were also highlighted, specifically the lack of cold water, making the temperature either hot or scalding. The reviewer strongly advised against bringing children to the showers due to the temperature and lack of cleanliness. Furthermore, the review pointed out a lack of maintenance, citing a torn and sharp shower hose that posed a safety risk. The availability of feminine hygiene disposal cans in the toilets was also mentioned as insufficient, leading to improper disposal.
Beyond the washroom facilities, the negative review detailed problems such as significant water stains from unattended leaks, filthy floors, cobwebs, and smeared feces on the walls, suggesting a prolonged lack of proper cleaning. The reviewer also mentioned having to personally clear a substantial amount of hair from a shower drain to alleviate flooding. Additionally, a lack of toilet paper in the women's stalls on a Saturday evening was noted as a significant inconvenience.
The beach area associated with Pleasant Lake Campground also received critical feedback. The reviewer described it as a public swimming beach with a "swim at own risk" advisory and, more concerningly, a lack of outer marking buoys. This absence of clear boundaries between the swimming area and boating area was deemed dangerous, as boats were reportedly coming close to swimmers who had no way of knowing the designated swimming limits. The reviewer claimed that even the on-site sheriff expressed concern regarding this safety issue.
According to the negative review, when these issues were brought to the attention of the campground host, the response was dismissive, with excuses provided and no responsibility taken. The reviewer concluded by strongly recommending against staying at Pleasant Lake Campground and expressing a desire for a refund, indicating a severely negative overall experience.
Considering these contrasting reviews, local users searching for "camping near me" should weigh the positive aspects mentioned by one reviewer, such as the fun atmosphere, the unique jungle gym, proximity to the lake, and the convenience of a store, against the serious concerns raised by another regarding the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities, as well as potential safety issues at the beach. It is advisable to contact Pleasant Lake Campground directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about the current conditions, maintenance schedules, and any recent improvements or addressed concerns. Visiting the location beforehand, if feasible, might also provide a clearer picture of the campground's environment and amenities.
While one local customer found Pleasant Lake Campground to be a fun and convenient option, another experienced significant issues related to cleanliness, maintenance, and safety. As a local user considering "camping near me," it is crucial to be aware of both perspectives to make an informed decision about whether Pleasant Lake Campground aligns with your expectations for a camping experience. Further investigation and direct communication with the campground management are recommended to gain a comprehensive understanding of the current state of the facilities and services offered.

Feb 13, 2023 · Christian RinnaIf I could go 0 star I would. Stay at own risk. Multiple issues. The facility's are disgusting. They claim the wash them every day? Check out the photos. Then you have the showers..... Choice of hot or scolding, no cold water at all. Wouldn't take a child to the showers as water is to hot and they are filthy. 0 maintenance. I had to tell them to fix the shower hose that was torn and sharp as a razor before someone got cut and sues. Fiance said only a few stalls had feminine product disposable cans so toilets had products in the toilet. Sever water stains from unattended leaks on toilets and sinks. Floors where filthy and cobwebs everywhere. Poop smeared on walls. Obviously these haven't been properly cleaned in a very long time. Finance had to remove stupid amount of hair from nasty shower drain to get the flooding shower to drain. On a Saturday evening 4 women's stalls and not a single piece of toilet paper. It was a terrible experience I won't go again. Then the beach. Swim at own risk....This is a public swimming beach........ With no outer marking buoys. This is dangerous.... Boats are supposed to be 100ft from a marked swimming area. Said boats had no clue where swimming area was nor do the swimmers know where it ends. This meant boats where cruising by right up on swimmers. So dangerous. When I asked the sheriff that was on site he said he noticed that and was also concerned. When these issues where brought up to the host camp I was pretty much blown off with excuses. No responsibility for it.I would highly not recommend staying here. It's so not worth it. If I could get my $ back I would.
Jun 23, 2024 · QS ConstructionVery nice little campground with electric and water hook ups. Nice shaded sites. Gets nice and quiet at night. Bathrooms are updated but are not clean. They are shared with other park goers. The beach is nice, the only thing I don’t like is there is a sea wall and you have to jump down into the water. **Edit: Bathrooms are disgusting...there was poop on the floor in one stall and no toilet paper in multiple stalls. I think because there is public day access the bathrooms get trashed.
Jul 02, 2018 · Elizabeth GrayWonderful week at the lake. This family friendly Campground was very busy for the 4th of July, but the bathroom was always clean and drama or alcohol problems were not tolerated. Will definitely go back.
Jul 07, 2022 · Jessy RingThis is a very nice public lake. They have a basketball court, GaGa court, shuffle board, Frisbee Golf short course and a pretty good size playground for kids. They also have 3 pavilions for rent for family gatherings. There is no boat launch but there is one by the general store for a fee. They campground has 60 lots and is reasonable prices. I highly recommend either camping here or just coming for a day at the lake.
