Pointes West Army Resort Introduce
If you're searching for "camping near me" in the vicinity of Augusta, Georgia, Pointes West Army Resort, located at 6703 Washington Rd, Appling, GA 30802, presents a lakeside recreational area offering both RV camping sites and cabin rentals. This resort, seemingly associated with the military community, boasts a location with natural appeal and a range of amenities, though recent customer feedback highlights some important considerations for potential visitors.
The environment of Pointes West Army Resort is a significant draw, with reviewers consistently praising the area and its lakeside setting. One visitor described it as a "great little secluded area on the lake with lots of room for kids to run around and explore." This suggests a picturesque environment with waterfront access, providing opportunities for lake-related activities and enjoyment of natural surroundings. The presence of a park a few miles away with lake views, shade, and playground equipment further enhances the recreational appeal of the location, making it potentially attractive for families.
In terms of services and features, Pointes West Army Resort aims to provide a comfortable camping and lodging experience. For RVers, the resort offers "good camp sites and amenities," although the specifics of these amenities (such as hookups for water, electricity, and sewer) are not detailed in the reviews. One long-term visitor mentioned the expectation of two camp hosts per RV area, with one responsible for daily trash pickup and the other for restroom maintenance. While one host was commended for their diligence in trash collection, significant issues were raised regarding the cleanliness of the restrooms in at least one area of the RV park (Area 2).
The cabin rentals at Pointes West Army Resort appear to offer more comprehensive features, described as a "decent bang for your buck." One review detailed a cabin with a full kitchen, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and two pull-out couches (one in the living room and one in a loft), suggesting ample space for families or groups. Basic amenities such as utensils, cookware, cups, and plates are provided, although they are noted to be "very well used and mismatched." Guests should be prepared to bring some additional supplies for extended stays, including extra garbage bags, toilet paper, paper towels, coffee filters, an oven mitt, and a can opener.
Despite the positive aspects of the cabin, the same reviewer pointed out several areas needing attention. These included a broken pull-out bed, a lack of cleanliness (dust, cobwebs, dead bugs), and some safety concerns, such as a missing spindle from the loft railing and an unsecured upstairs window. These comments suggest that while the cabins offer a good value, potential guests should be aware that the level of cleanliness and maintenance might not meet hotel standards.
The discrepancy between the reported booking popularity (being told they book out solid 6 months in advance) and the observed occupancy (only 2 out of 5 cabins occupied during a weekend stay) raises questions about the actual demand and potentially the condition of the accommodations influencing occupancy rates. This highlights the importance of considering recent reviews alongside official information when planning a stay.
Promotional information is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. To inquire about current rates, availability, or any special offers for RV sites or cabin rentals at Pointes West Army Resort, it is recommended to contact them directly using the provided phone numbers: (706) 541-1057 or mobile +1 706-541-1057. Given its status as an "Army Resort," there might be specific eligibility requirements or discounts for military personnel and their families, which would be beneficial to inquire about.
For local users searching for "camping near me" with lakeside access and a range of accommodation options, Pointes West Army Resort offers a potentially affordable choice. The positive comments about the area's beauty and recreational opportunities are appealing. However, the significant concerns raised in the reviews regarding restroom cleanliness in the RV area and the condition and safety of the cabins should be carefully considered. Potential visitors, especially those with high expectations for cleanliness and maintenance, may want to seek more recent reviews or clarification from the resort management regarding these issues.
In conclusion, Pointes West Army Resort in Appling, GA, provides a lakeside setting with both RV camping and cabin rentals, appealing to those seeking "camping near me" with recreational opportunities. While the location and some amenities are appreciated by visitors, recent feedback indicates potential issues with restroom cleanliness in the RV area and the condition and safety of the cabins. It is advisable for prospective guests to contact the resort directly for the most up-to-date information on services, availability, and any specific policies, as well as to consider the recent customer experiences shared in their decision-making process.

Pointes West Army Resort Reviews
We have been coming here for almost 20 years. Absolutely love the area, good camp sites and amenities. However some the camp host are reaping the benefits of a host without fulfilling the duties. 2 camp hosts at each RV area, one that picks up trash daily and one that is supposed to maintain the restrooms. We typically stay at area 2, and Richard is on it when it comes to picking up trash daily, making sure everyone is good. As for the other host...Absolutely worthless! The bathrooms were NEVER cleaned. We checked them before Memorial weekend all way up to June 3rd. They had their "Host out" sign the entire time, yet they were there, outside being loud at 5:30am, junk everywhere as if they've "lived" there for years. The men's bathroom did not have toilet paper for at least 10 days, a urinal screen on the counter in the women's bathroom, trash overflowing everywhere. Unsanitary and absolutely disgusting!
Jun 04, 2024 · Dani AllenDecent bang for your buck at these cabins. Great little secluded area on the lake with lots of room for kids to run around and explore. There is also a wonderful park a few miles up the road with a lake view, shade, and great playground equipment. The cabin had a full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and 2 pull out couches (one in the living room and another in the loft). Although the springs/support pieces on one pullout bed were completely shot and no longer attached to the frame, leaving the pull out bed unusable. The cabin was great but could definitely use a deep clean, there was dust on nearly every surface, an abundance of cobwebs, dead bugs in windowsills, and spiderwebs galore. We were told that these cabins book out solid 6 months in advance when we booked it, but out of the 5 cabins in the loop there were only 2 occupied the weekend we stayed and from the state of the cabin it didn’t appear that it had been stayed in for a while. The cabin provided fairly basic amenities but you will need to bring a few things for extended stays such as extra garbage bags, toilet paper, paper towels, coffee filters, an oven mitt and a can opener. Utensils, cookware, cups and plates were provided but were very well used and mismatched. There were a few safety concerns for staying with young children such as a spindle missing from the loft railing and the upstairs window not being able to latch/lock and having a loose screen, but we blocked off the stairs so our toddler couldn’t access those areas. Overall this was a lovely setting to “rough it” at the lake, not nearly as luxurious as a hotel but a fun and affordable environment to relax in for a weekend.
Sep 26, 2023 · Krista Royce BennettI've been coming here since I was 7, 8 years old. I'm now 62. This rest/resort area for the military has ALWAYS been excellent in every way possible, in my opinion. It has changed, but the changes (with the exception of the loss of Pine Camp) have all been good. I really do appreciate that it is for military, veterans, our dependants & our ilk - it's always like being around family, and "at home" if you're a military person. The Marina is, I hear, excellent, and the fishing as good as it gets around much of the lake. Playgrounds are VERY nice & very modern in some of the areas. While the Beach area *used* to be "all sand" with a dock way off in the water, it is still nice, though the area underwater is silty clay rock. You might want to wear some shoes for wading, especially if you're a tenderfoot. (I am.) I am also a fan of the beach area, soooo . . .You can find a nice set of pavilions there, plus a somewhat limited concession, plus gobs of picnic tables. A great place to relax, celebrate, hold a quiet party (be respectful of other guests.) There USED to be changing rooms, but they appear to be gone; however, there are gender assigned bathrooms. PLENTY of trash cans, so hey! - use 'em. It's a nice place to be.Picnic areas and camping grounds abound, and they are all well serviced & taken care of. There is a large "Conference Center" which can also be rented for parties, official events, and WEDDINGS. :-D I know THAT because my daughter got married there! :-) It is very pretty with nicely groomed grounds, and very well taken care of.There are a lot more amenities, activities, rentals, etc. that we, the military personnel (and their dependants!) can use - a nice place to get AWAY from the pressures of military life, spousal deployment (especially if you've got kids! Like my mother did, LOL!) - or away from post for a break from military life around folks who've lived the life you have, if you've been in, or around, the military. A very relaxing & restful place - or one for excitement if you're into boating, fishing, camping & all that.If you found this review helpful, please leave a 'thumbs-up' so I know that I am not just wasting my time here posting some detailed reviews to help you
Jun 13, 2024 · Michael HogueGravel sites that are mostly level. Fairly clean bathrooms with showers available.2 washers and dryer $1.50 for wash $1 for dry and they worked well. Beautiful area to relax with mostly quiet days. The weekend can be busy.We spent a month here and really enjoyed the water.3J is a large area with shade all day however when it rains it has a lot of water that runs through the site.
Sep 13, 2023 · Ryan SvoltoPointes West was by far a GEM to find. It was quiet and peaceful and the sites were great. The water pressure was outstanding, the power and sewer in campsite 3 was great! Nice place to hike, run or go for bike rides. Although we did not fish, the water was right there and I am sure that would have added to the great time we had. The only downside that we could find, was no shower buildings close by, no cable TV and we could not stay longer. Other than that, we HIGHLY recommend this hidden gem of a campsite at a great nightly rate.
