River Point Campground

Boy Scout Rd, Seeley Lake, MT 59868, USA

4.0
River Point Campground has a free day use area on Seeley Lake, featuring a beach, swimming area, picnic tables, and beautiful views of the Swan Mountain range.Accessibility info and site description: Follow the signs past the campground, straight to the free day use area. There is a large paved parking lot with no disabled parking, and two accessible restrooms at the center. Head toward the lake through a wooded area about 100 feet to the swimming beach. There is a gradual slope down to the water's edge, and a beautiful view of the mountains. To find the picnic tables, take the path to the right of the beach through the woods about 100 feet, or about 200 feet to the left of the beach where there is another three picnic tables and a circle of benches surrounding a campfire. The paths through the woods are mostly flat, covered in pine needles, with some branches, pinecones, and soft spots. There are many campgrounds around Seeley Lake, but very few day use areas, so I was excited when I heard about this site. It's a short distance from the parking lot to the small beach and offers beautiful views of the Swan Mountain range. The picnic tables are spread out throughout the woods which provides a little space between other visitors. I visited on a cold day in May, so there weren't many other people there at the time, but according to a recreation website, this site gets heavy use all year round. Also note: there was a sign at the swimming beach warning of blue green algae blooms, so be mindful of checking the reports before visiting and checking the water before going in, especially later in the summer and in the fall. - Disabled in the Wild

River Point Campground Introduce

For those seeking "camping near me" in the scenic Seeley Lake area of Montana, River Point Campground, located on Boy Scout Rd, Seeley Lake, MT 59868, offers a notable option. What sets River Point Campground apart, according to recent customer feedback, is its provision of a free day use area directly on Seeley Lake. This feature, combined with the campground itself, makes it an attractive destination for both overnight stays and day trips. You can contact River Point Campground at (406) 677-2233 or +1 406-677-2233 for inquiries about camping availability and any specific campground amenities.

The environment surrounding River Point Campground is highly praised for its natural beauty. The day use area boasts a "beach" and a designated "swimming area" on Seeley Lake, providing opportunities for water-based recreation and relaxation. The location also offers "beautiful views of the Swan Mountain range," allowing visitors to enjoy the majestic mountain scenery that characterizes this region of Montana. The presence of a wooded area between the parking lot and the lake adds to the natural ambiance and provides a short, scenic walk to the waterfront. The paths within the day use area are described as "mostly flat, covered in pine needles, with some branches, pinecones, and soft spots," suggesting a natural, easy-to-navigate terrain for pedestrians.

The free day use area at River Point Campground is equipped with several services and features designed for visitor convenience and enjoyment. "Picnic tables" are available in multiple locations, both near the beach and spread out within the adjacent woods. This allows visitors to comfortably enjoy meals outdoors amidst the natural surroundings. Additionally, there are "two accessible restrooms at the center" of the day use area, indicating an effort to accommodate visitors with mobility needs. The presence of "a circle of benches surrounding a campfire" near one set of picnic tables suggests a communal space for gathering and enjoying campfires, although it's important to note that regulations regarding campfires may vary depending on the time of year and local fire conditions.

Accessibility to the day use area is described in detail. Following the signs past the campground leads directly to the free day use area, where there is "a large paved parking lot with no disabled parking." While the lack of designated disabled parking is a point to note for visitors with specific accessibility requirements, the presence of accessible restrooms is a positive aspect. The path from the parking lot to the swimming beach involves a "gradual slope down to the water's edge," which may be manageable for some individuals with mobility challenges. The paths to the picnic tables through the woods are mostly flat, although the pine needle surface and occasional natural debris should be considered.

The reviews highlight the relative scarcity of day use areas around Seeley Lake, making the facility at River Point Campground a valuable resource for both campers and other visitors to the area. The "small beach" is noted as being a short distance from the parking lot, enhancing its accessibility for day trippers. The spread-out placement of picnic tables throughout the woods offers a degree of privacy and space between different groups of visitors, contributing to a more enjoyable experience.

However, one review mentions a potential drawback: noise from neighboring campers, specifically "a neighbor's loud generator until around 11PM and another site's loud music until midnight." The reviewer expressed a desire for the campground to enforce "quiet hours" more effectively. This suggests that while the natural environment is appealing, the potential for noise disturbance from other campers should be considered, especially for those seeking a peaceful and quiet camping or day use experience.

An important environmental note is the presence of a sign at the swimming beach warning of "blue green algae blooms." The reviewer advises visitors to be mindful of checking reports before visiting and to inspect the water before entering, particularly "later in the summer and in the fall," as these blooms can pose health risks. This highlights the need for visitors to stay informed about water quality conditions at Seeley Lake, especially during warmer months.

Promotional information is somewhat implicit in the positive descriptions of the day use area's features and scenic views. The availability of a free access point to Seeley Lake with a beach, swimming area, and picnic tables is a significant draw for both local users and tourists looking for "camping near me" or simply a place to enjoy the lake for the day. The beautiful views of the Swan Mountain range further enhance its appeal as a destination for outdoor recreation and relaxation.

For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Seeley Lake area, River Point Campground offers the added benefit of this well-equipped day use area. This can be particularly attractive for families or groups where some members may be camping while others join for day activities. The combination of overnight camping facilities (details of which are not extensively provided in the reviews but can be inquired about via the phone number) and the free day use area makes River Point Campground a versatile option for enjoying Seeley Lake and its surroundings.

In conclusion, River Point Campground provides a valuable resource for those seeking "camping near me" in the Seeley Lake region of Montana, primarily through its excellent free day use area. With a beach, swimming access to Seeley Lake, numerous picnic tables spread throughout a scenic wooded area, accessible restrooms, and stunning views of the Swan Mountains, it offers a compelling destination for day trips and potentially for overnight camping as well (subject to availability and amenities of the campground itself). Visitors should be aware of the potential for noise from other campers and the importance of checking for blue green algae warnings before entering the water, especially during warmer months. Contacting the campground directly is recommended for specific information about camping facilities and reservations.
