Reviews from first-time and returning visitors alike highlight the welcoming nature of both the staff and the guests, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a comfortable and accepting camping experience.
The environment at River Ridge is described as conducive to relaxation and enjoyment. The positive mention of "great weather, with low 80s daytime and upper 50s nighttime" during one visitor's stay suggests that the campground benefits from pleasant seasonal conditions. The presence of a pool and deck area is explicitly noted as "lovely," providing a central space for relaxation and socializing, particularly during warmer weather. While the natural landscape isn't extensively detailed, the availability of land for walking is implied, offering opportunities to explore the surroundings. The emphasis on a "truly relaxing" atmosphere suggests a peaceful setting where guests can unwind and connect with nature and each other.
In terms of services, River Ridge, Gay Campground LLC, excels in creating a positive and supportive environment for its guests. The office staff, Dave & Michael, are specifically commended for being "extremely helpful" and readily available to answer questions, even checking back with tent campers to ensure everything was satisfactory. This level of attentive and caring service contributes significantly to the welcoming atmosphere. The campground is also noted for being "extremely clean" and "well-maintained," with everything reported to be "in working order," indicating a high standard of care for the facilities. The presence of "communal-style showers" is mentioned as a positive feature by one visitor, suggesting well-kept and accessible bathing facilities. The seasonal members are noted for being "amiable" and making newcomers feel welcome, further reinforcing the sense of belonging. The close-knit relationship between the staff and the members is also highlighted, suggesting a well-established and supportive community.
While the primary focus is on the welcoming environment and clean facilities, River Ridge also offers different accommodation options. One reviewer stayed in one of the "older trailers on the site," a "small Jayco trailer." While acknowledged as "a bit dated" and showing its age, it still provided "everything I needed," suggesting that the campground offers a range of lodging choices beyond traditional tent camping, potentially including RV sites and rental trailers. The availability of spots "by the pool" indicates different campsite locations to suit various preferences.
A suggestion for improvement mentioned by one visitor was the desire for "something minor going on in their clubhouse for the non-themed weeks." River Ridge, Gay Campground LLC Reviews
River Ridge is a GREAT campground! As a tent camper visiting this location for the first time, the office staff, Dave & Michael, were extremely helpful and answered every question. They checked back over the weekend to make sure everything was OK. All the guests were incredibly friendly, with everyone waving and saying hello. Conversations were genuine and easy to start among the guests. Evenings were relaxing with guys inviting others to sit around their campfires and chat. The entire facility was extremely clean, well-maintained, everything was in working order. The great weather, with low 80s daytime and upper 50s nighttime, made for a perfect 3-day weekend getaway! Highly recommend this campground to anyone looking for a truly relaxing, extremely-friendly location where everyone was made to feel welcome and comfortable!
Aug 12, 2024 · Jeff AshenfelterThis was my first time visiting a gay clothing clothing-optional campground. I have nothing but good things to say about it. My friend and I went on a non-themed weekend. It wasn't crowded and easy to grab a spot by the pool. The seasonal members of this campground were amiable and made me feel welcome there. The same goes for the staff who run the campground. You can tell this is a closer-knit community between the staff and members. I met so many wonderful men in the short time I visited here.We stayed at one of the older trailers on the site. It was a small Jayco trailer. It's a bit dated and shows its age in certain spots. Still, it had everything I needed. The on-site facilities were in great shape. I loved the communal-style showers! The pool/deck was lovely as well. I wish they could've had something minor going on in their clubhouse for the non-themed weeks.
Aug 11, 2024 · clangdalangThis campground is a home away from home. Everyone there is extremely friendly and accommodating. I stayed there for the first time this year for my birthday the week of August 16th and went again this weekend, but unfortunately was only able to stay 1 night as the remnants of Hurricane Helene had other plans when she came threw and destroyed my tent. The owners came to my site just before the high winds hit and took me to the bunkhouse for safety and later offered to put me up in the bunk house for the remaining 2 nights I booked. Unfortunately I was not able to stay due to all my stuff sitting in almost an inch and a half of water...the only dry stuff I had was my clothing that was in my suitcase inside what was left of my tent. This place is a home away from home and the owners are amazing...they even went as far as refunding my remaining 2 nights. I will not let a little storm put a damper on me and I will be back next year stronger than ever
Sep 28, 2024 · David WhitmarshAbsolutely amazing! This was my first trip and definitely will not be my last. Some friends and I came down for a weekend getaway and loved every minute of our stay. Although the campground is fairly small, it was very well maintained and easy to navigate. David and Michael, our camp hosts, were amazing and made sure to answer all of our questions and assist us in anything that we needed. Everyone who was staying were very friendly and made us feel welcome and at home. I would definitely recommend River Ridge to anyone needing some time away among a group of people that will treat you like family.
Jun 05, 2023 · Steve StaleyThis experience was an absolute first for me. Needless to say, as a solo traveler, I was nervous. The minute I walked in, Craig and Dave made me feel welcome. I stayed mid week so the campground was quiet, peaceful and extremely relaxing. I took advantage of the kayaks and enjoyed exploring the river! The room was comfortable and the facilities were clean and well maintained. ALL of the seasonal residents I met were very friendly - extending an invitation to dinner. You’re in good company and won’t be disappointed. I can’t wait to return!
