One reviewer enthusiastically proclaims that Rock Bottom at Splitrock Farm offers 'the best views in San Diego!' This is a significant highlight for prospective campers who prioritize scenic beauty and panoramic vistas during their outdoor excursions. The San Diego region is renowned for its diverse landscapes, and a campsite boasting the 'best views' suggests a truly remarkable setting, likely offering stunning overlooks of the surrounding hills, valleys, or perhaps even distant coastal areas.
Another reviewer provides a more detailed account of their experience, noting the 'great views' and the convenient proximity to the ocean, being 'less than an hour away.' This combination of inland scenic beauty and relatively easy access to the coast offers a compelling proposition for campers seeking a diverse outdoor experience. The feeling of being 'out in the middle of nowhere' further suggests a sense of seclusion and escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life, enhancing the appeal for those seeking tranquility and a connection with nature.
However, this same reviewer also provides a crucial caveat regarding accessibility. They specifically mention staying at the 'Rock Bottom site' and note that 'the road getting to it was definitely tight,' and the spot itself was also 'tight' for their ProMaster 3500 van. This indicates that while the Rock Bottom site may offer the described views, it might not be easily accessible or spacious enough for larger vehicles. This is important information for potential campers to consider based on the size and type of their camping setup.
On a more positive note, the reviewer also mentions that the location has 'plenty of other spots though to pick from,' with each having its 'own unique vibe.' This suggests that Splitrock Farm offers a variety of campsites, catering to different preferences and potentially accommodating different sizes of vehicles or camping styles. Great views and less than an hour from the ocean. Fun excursion with the feeling of being out in the middle of nowhere. We stayed at the Rock Bottom site however the road getting to it was definitely tight and the spot itself was also tight (we have a ProMaster 3500). They have plenty of other spots though to pick from with each having its own unique vibe.
