Rose Bay Introduce
For local residents in and around Port Orange, Florida, seeking "camping near me," Rose Bay Campground, located at 5200 S Nova Rd, Port Orange, FL 32127, USA, presents a camping option with a noteworthy location. The provided phone numbers, (386) 767-4308 and +1 386-767-4308, offer local users a direct point of contact for inquiries and reservations. Based on recent customer reviews, Rose Bay Campground offers a mix of positive locational attributes alongside some potential drawbacks that local campers should consider.
One of the significant advantages highlighted in the reviews is the campground's environment and its proximity to various conveniences. A visitor noted that "The park is in an area with plenty to do. Many restaurants, grocery stores, shops, close to lots of options. We absolutely loved the area." This suggests that for local users seeking "camping near me" with easy access to urban amenities, Rose Bay Campground's location in Port Orange is a considerable benefit. The convenience of nearby dining, shopping, and essential services can enhance both short and long-term stays.
However, this prime location comes with a notable environmental consideration: noise from a nearby train. The same reviewer mentioned, "The TRAIN, however, is frequent and very loud." This is a crucial factor for local campers sensitive to noise. The frequent passage of loud trains could impact the tranquility of the camping experience, especially during nighttime hours. Potential guests should consider this if they prioritize a quiet and peaceful environment for their "camping near me" getaway.
In terms of services and features, the reviews offer some insights. One visitor found "the price is fair and the sites are a good size," which suggests that Rose Bay Campground provides reasonably priced camping spaces that can accommodate different sizes of camping units. Another long-term visitor with a 40ft RV noted, "Our site was fairly large and plenty deep for our 40ft unit," indicating that the campground can accommodate larger recreational vehicles, which is important for the segment of the local "camping near me" market that travels in RVs.
One of the recurring negative themes in the reviews concerns interactions with the maintenance staff. One visitor detailed two "negative encounters with the maintenance person," describing unprofessional behavior and a lack of attentiveness to guest requests. These experiences suggest potential inconsistencies in the level of service provided by the maintenance team, which could be a concern for local users seeking reliable and helpful assistance during their stay.
Another area of concern raised by multiple reviewers is the overall condition and management of the park. One visitor described it as a "Poorly run park," despite its "great location." This sentiment is echoed by another reviewer who noted, "Almost half the units in the park are either for sale or flat out abandoned and falling apart." The presence of numerous dilapidated or for-sale RVs could detract from the aesthetic appeal of the campground and potentially indicate issues with park management or long-term residency policies. Local users seeking a well-maintained and visually appealing "camping near me" option should be aware of these observations.
Feedback regarding the front office staff is also mixed, with one long-term visitor stating, "...the front office woman is VERY RUDE. I completely understand the other reviews stating similar." This suggests potential issues with customer service from the administrative side, which could negatively impact the overall experience for local campers, especially during check-in, inquiries, or problem resolution.
On a more positive note, one reviewer mentioned enjoying "the small fishing area at the back of the park," indicating that fishing might be an available amenity for local users who enjoy this activity. Additionally, the same reviewer noted that "the bathrooms are clean," which is a significant positive aspect for any campground. However, they also added that the bathrooms were "randomly closed without reason," introducing an element of unpredictability regarding the availability of these essential facilities.
The reviews also offer contrasting opinions on the friendliness of other guests. One visitor found "The guest were very friendly," while another mentioned that "most of our interaction with other residents was fairly positive and some are very nice. Others can be very rude as well." This suggests a potentially mixed community atmosphere within the campground, which local users might experience differently depending on their interactions.
There is no specific promotional information mentioned in the provided reviews. Therefore, local users interested in any potential discounts, special offers, or long-term stay rates should contact Rose Bay Campground directly using the provided phone numbers. The primary "promotion" evident in the reviews is the convenient location of the campground in Port Orange, with easy access to nearby amenities and attractions.
In conclusion, for local residents searching for "camping near me" in Port Orange, FL, Rose Bay Campground offers a convenient location with easy access to restaurants, shops, and grocery stores. The campground features reasonably sized sites suitable for various camping units and may offer amenities such as a fishing area and generally clean bathrooms, although the latter may be subject to unpredictable closures. However, potential drawbacks include significant noise from a frequent and loud train, reported negative encounters with maintenance staff, concerns about park management and the presence of dilapidated RVs, and complaints about the rudeness of the front office. Local users should weigh these factors carefully and consider contacting the campground directly for more information before making a decision about their "camping near me" experience at Rose Bay Campground.

The park is in an area with plenty to do. Many restaurants, grocery stores, shops, close to lots of options. We absolutely loved the area. The TRAIN, however, is frequent and very loud. The price is fair and the sites are a good size.2 negative encounters with the maintenance person that appears to only want to drive around on a Cushman.1st encounter, I was at the maintenance gate asking a person sitting on a golf cart if he worked there. The person pointed to a guy literally coming in skidding on a Cushman, laughing. I said hi and he acknowledged me. He immediately walked past me to the golf cart and kept his back to me while speaking with the guy on the golf cart…. for way too long. He was mostly bitching about his supervisor. The guy in the golf cart eventually pointed to me. The maintenance person then looked towards me. I ask if it were possible to get a picnic table. He said that he would find one ‘tomorrow’ and deliver it. He did at 3:30 pm. The next day.2nd encounter. He was in the middle of the road talking to someone. I waited for an oncoming vehicle to pass so I could drive around him. There are several RV’s in the park that should be repaired or removed. The guest were very friendly and the park was a nice place to walk the dogs.
Mar 26, 2025 · Norm MicheleStayed here for a month long stay as we travel full time and move regularly. The majority of our stay was honestly pretty good. We enjoyed the small fishing area at the back of the park. Our site was fairly large and plenty deep for our 40ft unit.It is sad to leave such a negative review on this place but, the front office woman is VERY RUDE. I completely understand the other reviews stating similar. I think most of our interaction with other residents was fairly positive and some are very nice. Others can be very rude as well.Almost half the units in the park are either for sale or flat out abandoned and falling apart.Poorly run park, which is sad because it is such a great location.Bathrooms are clean, but randomly closed without reason. We will not return even if in the area again.
Mar 16, 2025 · Anna WagnerLady that says she is the manager and works in the office is so rude and racist. I have never been talked to like that in my life. I am a very respectful person, but this lady makes her own conclusions and refused to give me a contact of her superior. I guess she owns the place. I can see why this place is so empty with that lady running the business. I wish I had it on camera because her behavior was ridiculous and unjust in every way. I really wish I knew who really was in charge. Surely they know who they have working for them.
Apr 29, 2025 · KeithBugs, worst I’ve ever encountered, probably from a large drainage ditch on the west side. Several run down, abandoned old rigs on the premises, maybe health concern. Most people were very nice, except one full timer. She was rude! Train tracks on west side and 4:30am trains were common. No wifi. Many parking slabs in disrepair. Weather was perfect.
Apr 14, 2025 · Jim HaycockNot for kids! The long term renters are not very nice and they don’t want kids playing at all. Another RV’s Bikes were stolen while we were there and they don’t require a code to get in. The office hours are so minimal it’s hard to get there before they close. It’s close to the beach which is cool, but overall it doesn’t offer very many amenities and the residents are snooty. I won’t be back!
