we decided to vacation in Florida for 1 month and settled on sugar Ruins RV park.We found the location very convenient to the beaches which was great. The campground I would rate as not great but just ok. Sites were alittle tight and very dusty. Hook ups were also on the opposite side on my RV. The pool was very good and ammenities were ample . We also found some people were living there full time and didn't make for a clean campground . - keith olmsted

Sugar Mill Ruins Travel Park Introduce

For local residents in and around New Smyrna Beach, Florida, seeking "camping near me" or looking for "RV parks near me," Sugar Mill Ruins Travel Park, located at 1050 Old Mission Rd, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168, presents itself as a potential option. With contact numbers (386) 427-2284 and +1 386-427-2284, it is readily contactable for inquiries. However, recent customer reviews offer a mixed perspective on this campground, which local users should carefully consider when making their decisions.

One reviewer who stayed for a month-long vacation in Florida chose Sugar Mill Ruins RV Park primarily due to its "very convenient" location to the beaches. This proximity to the coast is a significant environmental and locational advantage for those looking to enjoy the sun, sand, and surf that New Smyrna Beach is known for. For local users who prioritize beach access when searching for "camping near me," this campground's location is a definite plus.

However, the same reviewer rated the campground itself as "not great but just ok," pointing out several drawbacks. One issue mentioned was that the "Sites were alittle tight and very dusty." Tight sites can impact the feeling of space and privacy, while dusty conditions can affect the overall comfort and cleanliness of the camping experience, particularly during dry periods. Local RV owners with larger rigs should inquire about site sizes to ensure a comfortable fit.

Another infrastructural inconvenience noted was that the "Hook ups were also on the opposite side on my RV." This can create logistical challenges for RVers, potentially requiring extra-long hoses and electrical cords, or awkward positioning of the RV on the site. Local RV owners should verify the orientation of hookups relative to the parking direction of their RV when booking a site.

On a more positive note, the reviewer found the "pool was very good and ammenities were ample." A well-maintained pool is a significant recreational amenity, especially in the Florida heat, and ample amenities suggest that the campground provides essential facilities for a comfortable stay. Local users who value having a pool and other conveniences like restrooms, showers, or laundry facilities should take this into account.

A concerning observation was that "some people were living there full time and didn't make for a clean campground." The presence of a significant number of long-term residents can sometimes lead to a more cluttered or less transient-friendly atmosphere in a campground. The implication that this detracted from the cleanliness is a point of concern for local users who expect a well-maintained and tidy environment.

Another reviewer who had stayed at Sugar Mill Ruins Travel Park two years prior noted a decline in the campground's condition. They stated, "This year the park looks kinda shabby with junkyard trailers everywhere. Fences around full timers falling down, wood pallets used as decks. Junk everywhere." This paints a picture of a campground that may be suffering from neglect or a lack of consistent upkeep. The presence of "junkyard trailers" and general disrepair can significantly impact the aesthetic appeal and overall experience for local campers and RVers seeking a pleasant getaway.

The issue of tight spacing was echoed by the second reviewer, who commented, "Our space this year is so close to the one next door I can tell you the conversation." This lack of space between sites can reduce privacy and increase noise levels, potentially detracting from the peaceful enjoyment of the outdoors. Local users who value privacy and a quiet camping experience should inquire about site spacing when booking.

Despite the numerous negative observations, the second reviewer did concur on two positive aspects: "But, location and pool are good." This reinforces the earlier point about the convenient location relative to New Smyrna Beach and the positive amenity of the pool. These remain key attractions for local users considering this campground.

Based on these reviews, the environment of Sugar Mill Ruins Travel Park is characterized by its convenient proximity to the beaches of New Smyrna Beach. However, the internal environment of the campground itself appears to have issues with dusty and tight sites, and potentially a cluttered appearance due to long-term residents and general disrepair. The pool is a notable positive amenity. Services likely include standard hookups for RVs (though their placement might be inconvenient), restrooms, and possibly laundry facilities, given the mention of "ample amenities." Features include the pool and the location near the beach, but potential drawbacks include the site conditions and the atmosphere created by long-term residents.

No promotional information is explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. Local users interested in potential discounts for local residents, seasonal offers, or long-term stay rates would need to contact Sugar Mill Ruins Travel Park directly using the provided phone numbers or check if they have a website or listings on camping or RV park directories. Given the concerns raised in the reviews, it would be advisable to inquire about the current condition of the campground and its facilities when making contact.

In conclusion, Sugar Mill Ruins Travel Park in New Smyrna Beach, FL, offers a significant advantage to local users seeking "camping near me" or "RV parks near me" due to its convenient location near the beaches. The presence of a "very good" pool and "ample amenities" are also positive aspects. However, potential drawbacks highlighted by recent reviews include tight and dusty sites, inconvenient hookup placements, a potentially unclean environment due to long-term residents, and a general "shabby" appearance with "junk everywhere." Local users should carefully weigh the importance of beach access and the pool against these reported negative conditions. It is strongly recommended that prospective local visitors contact the campground directly to inquire about the current state of the facilities and sites before making a reservation.
