Riverwood Park Campground Introduce
For local residents in and around Oak Hill, Florida, seeking "camping near me" or looking for "RV parks near me," Riverwood Park Campground, located at 298 H H Burch Rd, Oak Hill, FL 32759, is an option to consider. With contact numbers (386) 345-3922 and +1 386-345-3922, it is reachable for inquiries. However, recent customer reviews present a starkly divided view of this campground, highlighting both a significant natural advantage and several critical shortcomings that local users should be aware of.
One of the primary features of Riverwood Park Campground, consistently mentioned in the reviews, is its waterfront location. One reviewer explicitly stated that "If you want to go fishing it is on the water," indicating direct access to a body of water suitable for fishing. Another reviewer lauded the "campground waterfront sites" for having a "great view," even awarding it a "Five star view." This suggests that the campground's position along the water offers scenic vistas and convenient opportunities for fishing, which could be a major draw for local users who value these aspects when searching for "camping near me." The specific type of waterfront (e.g., river, lake, or canal) is not specified, but its presence is a clear environmental feature.
However, the positive aspects seem to be overshadowed by significant negative feedback regarding the campground's facilities, maintenance, and management. The first reviewer strongly advised, "Don't stay here," and proceeded to list several critical deficiencies. The most significant of these is the reported absence of essential amenities: "There are no showers or public restrooms." This lack of basic hygiene facilities would be a major deterrent for most campers, especially those planning more than a very short stay. Local users accustomed to having these facilities at campgrounds should take this into serious consideration.
Another functional issue mentioned was that the "Water hookup doesn't work all the time." Unreliable water service can create significant inconveniences for RV users who depend on these hookups for their water supply. This inconsistency raises concerns about the basic utility services provided at the campground.
Furthermore, the infrastructure appears to be in disrepair, with the reviewer noting that "The break wall is falling apart." A deteriorating break wall could pose safety hazards, especially for those camping near the waterfront, and suggests a lack of ongoing maintenance and investment in the property.
The management also received negative feedback, with the reviewer stating, "There was never anyone available to ask questions." The absence of accessible staff can lead to frustration and unresolved issues for campers, impacting their overall experience and sense of support.
The second reviewer echoed many of these concerns, describing the campground as "run down and unkept." They further elaborated on the poor condition, mentioning "Skinny sites, run down in all aspects, potholes and tree limbs." Skinny sites can lead to a lack of privacy and make maneuvering RVs difficult. The presence of potholes indicates poor road maintenance within the campground, and overgrown tree limbs can pose a risk to vehicles and campers. These observations paint a picture of a campground that is not being adequately maintained.
Adding to the negative aspects, the second reviewer highlighted the high cost, stating "$65.00 dollars per night cash only." This price point seems exorbitant, especially when coupled with the reported lack of amenities and poor condition of the campground. The "cash only" policy might also be inconvenient for some local users.
The management issues were further underscored by the second reviewer's experience upon arrival: "The camp office never warned me about tight turns nor did they even tell me how to get to my site." This lack of basic guidance and information upon check-in suggests poor customer service and a lack of attention to the needs of arriving campers. The consequence for this reviewer was damage to their vehicle: "Now I have to go home and buff out the scuff from the tree limb (full body paint) not impressed with the campground." This incident directly resulted from the unkept conditions and the lack of guidance from the camp office.
Based on these reviews, the environment of Riverwood Park Campground offers waterfront access and potentially scenic views, making it attractive for fishing enthusiasts and those who appreciate a waterside setting. However, the services are severely lacking, with no reported showers or public restrooms and unreliable water hookups. The campground features run-down and unkept conditions, including skinny sites, potholes, and overgrown tree limbs. Management appears to be unresponsive and unhelpful. The high cost of $65.00 per night, payable in cash only, further detracts from its appeal.
No promotional information is mentioned in the reviews. Given the overwhelmingly negative feedback regarding the facilities and maintenance, it is unlikely that there are any active promotions. Local users might want to inquire about the current conditions and pricing directly if they are still considering this campground based solely on its waterfront location.
In conclusion, while Riverwood Park Campground in Oak Hill, FL, boasts a potentially appealing waterfront location with good views and fishing access, the overwhelmingly negative reviews regarding the lack of essential amenities (showers, restrooms), unreliable water hookups, run-down conditions, and poor management should give local users significant pause. The high nightly rate of $65.00 (cash only) seems particularly unjustified given the reported state of the campground. Local residents searching for "camping near me" would be well-advised to thoroughly consider these serious drawbacks and perhaps explore other options in the Oak Hill area that offer better facilities and value for their money.

Mar 21, 2025 · Kitty PavichThe campground waterfront sites have a great view. Five star view. The campground otherwise is run down and unkept. Skinny sites, run down in all aspects , potholes and tree limbs.65.00 dollars per night cash only. The camp office never warned me about tight turns nor did they even tell me how to get to my site. Now I have to go home and buff out the scuff from the tree limb( full body paint) not impressed with the campground
Nov 18, 2020 · Carl SwoyerI did not stay. I only did a drive around. It looks more like a place where people stay long-term. I definitely would not pay $80 a night. The guy at the office was a nice man. It's just not my cup of tea. There are camping spots on the water. As far as I can tell you had to go over the seawall to get into the water if that is what you wanted to do. With some TLC this place could be nice. Four stars it's only because it looks dumpy.
Aug 11, 2024 · Nancy RaeOk, it was hard for me to give this special place only a 3 star review. The waterfront view was amazing and the wildlife viewing was spectacular! Manatees, birds and dolphins everywhere! Just steps away from our campsite there where manatees eating and congregating. It was a very special experience. Now on to why I gave this campground only 3 stars.... it was in disrepair. The ground were unkept, the concrete pads where crumbling, many of the long term resident sites where unsightly and there was a lack of normal campground facilities. Unfortunate because this place is a diamond in the ruff!
Oct 11, 2018 · Julia GalacThis is an older campground with priceless views. We had full hookups that worked perfectly. Everyone, staff and guests, were extremely friendly. I will definitely stay again!
