Titusville / Kennedy Space Center KOA Journey Introduce
Hello, local residents and visitors! If you're searching for "camping near me" in the vicinity of Titusville and the Kennedy Space Center, the location at 4513 W Main St, Mims, FL 32754, USA, has historically been known as the Titusville / Kennedy Space Center KOA Journey. It’s important to note, based on recent customer feedback, that this campground has "recently severed ties with KOA." Therefore, while the name might still be in use or familiar, the affiliation with the KOA network may no longer apply. Let's delve into what you might expect from this campground based on available information.
The Environment and Location: Gateway to Space Coast Attractions
The campground's name itself highlights its proximity to the Kennedy Space Center, a major attraction in the Titusville area. This suggests that the environment offers convenient access not only to space-related tourism but also to the natural beauty of Florida's Space Coast. Mims, where the campground is located, is situated inland from the Atlantic coast, but within a reasonable driving distance to beaches like Cocoa Beach. It also offers relatively easy access to Orlando and Daytona. This central location is noted positively by one reviewer who mentioned its convenience to these key areas.
The specific environment of the campground itself is undergoing changes, according to a review from a long-term winter visitor from New York. They mentioned that the campground is "being redone" and they were placed in a "new section" which they found "very nice." This suggests that parts of the campground are modernizing and improving. However, it's essential to consider that other areas might still be in the process of renovation or may not have the same updated features.
Services and Features: Mixed Experiences Reported
Customer reviews present a mixed picture regarding the services and features at this location:
- New Sections: One positive review highlights the new sections as being "very nice," suggesting updated amenities in those areas. If you choose to stay here, requesting a spot in the new section seems advisable based on this feedback.
- Long-Term Manager: The same positive review praised the "long term manager" as being "super helpful in every way." This indicates that at least some staff members are dedicated to customer service.
- Ongoing Remodeling: The park is reportedly continuing to remodel with "new lots and amenities," which could mean ongoing improvements for future visitors.
- Severed Ties with KOA: This change might impact the consistency of services and standards previously associated with KOA campgrounds.
- Customer Service Concerns: A more critical review stated that the staff seemed "more interested in their Terms & Conditions and Liability Waivers than in customer service" and were "cordial at best." This suggests that some guests have experienced less than satisfactory service.
- Deteriorating Facilities: The same critical review mentioned a belief that "the facilities have deteriorated under the current ownership." This is a significant point for potential visitors to consider.
- Shared Hookups: One concerning issue raised was having to "share hookups with the campsite next to me," specifically mentioning power.
- Power Fluctuations: The shared power hookup reportedly led to "power fluctuations."
- No Trash Pickup: Another negative point was the lack of trash pickup.
Given these contrasting experiences, it's crucial for local users searching for "camping near me" to be aware of the potential variability in site quality and service at this location.
Promotional Information and Recommendations
Based on the provided reviews, a balanced perspective is necessary. The ongoing renovations and the positive experience in the new section are encouraging. If you are considering this campground, it would be wise to:
- Request a site in the new sections when making a reservation, as these seem to be of higher quality.
- Inquire about the specific amenities at your chosen site, particularly regarding hookups and trash disposal.
The central location remains a strong selling point, offering easy access to the Kennedy Space Center, Orlando attractions, and the beaches along the Space Coast. For those prioritizing location for exploring these areas, this campground could still be a viable option, especially if you can secure a spot in a newly renovated section.
However, it's also important to be aware of the potential downsides mentioned in the negative review, such as shared hookups, power issues, and the lack of trash pickup. If these are significant concerns for your "camping near me" experience, you might want to inquire specifically about these aspects before booking or consider other campgrounds in the area.
In summary, the former Titusville / Kennedy Space Center KOA Journey (now operating independently) is undergoing renovations, with new sections receiving positive feedback. Its location is convenient for exploring regional attractions. However, some areas may have older facilities, and there have been reports of shared hookups and service issues. Local users should weigh these factors and perhaps contact the campground directly at (321) 269-7361 to get the most up-to-date information before making a decision for their "camping near me" needs.
Consider this location for its central access to Space Coast highlights, but be sure to ask about the availability of sites in the newly renovated areas and clarify the amenities provided at your specific site.

Titusville / Kennedy Space Center KOA Journey Reviews
We are from NY and enjoying Florida for the winter. Campsite didn’t have best reviews but we gambled on it for a month. The campground is being redone and we got the new section. It’s very nice and ended up staying for another month. Very centrally located to Orlando, Cocoa beach and Dayton. The long term manager was super helpful in every way. They are continuing to remodel park with new lots and amenities. Strongly recommend, just request new sections.
Feb 01, 2025 · Fred MayerThis campground has recently severed ties with KOA. I found the staff to be more interested in their Terms & Conditions and Liability Waivers than in customer service. The staff was cordial at best. I have stayed at this campground in the past and believe that the facilities have deteriorated under the current ownership. I had to share hookups with the campsite next to me. Apparently, there were power fluctuations caused either by line power or the camper connected on the common breaker box. Also, there was no trash pickup. Buyer beware.
Mar 28, 2025 · Richard BratcherOld Very worn shabby facility.Started off getting there someone in our spot that had to be moved (Old Purple and White School bus) once they moved to a new spot, they didn't clean the spot so it was covered in dirt, luckily after talking to the Mgr. someone came over and cleaned it best they could. We were shown on the map we had the whole slip 110 & 111 on the map are long pull in spots, but they are not, 111 had broken concrete so they don't even use it, (girl on the walkie talkie announced that over the radio) but they put us there! The reason Given why 111 isn't used is under the broken concrete in the back is plumbing pipes that if you would drive through as intended it would break all the plumbing pipes.Roads in the camp are narrow, asphalt is broken and uneven. They said we had a "Deluxe" spot, not "Deluxe" Compared to other LOA's we have stayed at.Pool was hazy and green tint the first 2 days, then the haze got better, but the rest of the time it was still greenish. The buildings are in need or repair, the office has rotten wood all over it, broken balusters on the upper deck. One of the facility managers said that KOA had just been through there in the last few weeks to evaluate them on being up to KOA standards. If this facility is up to KOA Standards I would love to know what those standards are!! Best thing I can say is if you need a place close to I-95 the location is good with a Love's across the street.
Mar 10, 2025 · Sean R GilliganThis has been the very worst of any KOA experience I have ever had. I booked this for July 2024 for a tent site. I travel with my kids and upon arrival I was told we could only have 1 tent on the site. This was NOT part of booking, I have never had issues for having 2. My minor children were required to have a separate tent site (I'm thinking it was because they weren't booked fully so upon check in this was a thing) but my minor children could not book a site on their own so why was I forced to buy another site??? Hmmm....Also, upon getting to the tent site that is said to have electric, it was a 30 amp site....I could not plug my electric cord in so I had to purchase an adapter. Also for my second site for my kids, they did agree to "loan" an adapter, this is laughable. ...whatever, we were there and had to make do. This place is so shady, don't stay there. I would give it a zero if I could. Were the bathrooms clean, yes. The tent site was mud, the path to the bathrooms was mud. If you have more than one tent you will be forced to separate your family cause this one tent rule is stupid if travelling with your own minor children who you can't book a site for cause they are underage. Make it make sense. I did reach out and ask for management to contact me and they said the one tent rule was because Scouts ruined it for everyone and they bought one site and had a lot of tents on one site. It still doesn't make sense that I could reserve a spot and just because the spot I reserved was during a weekday and not busy so I was forced to purchase another that was near me for the second tent for my teens to stay in.
Jan 05, 2025 · Jamie KruegerWe enjoyed our stay at the KOA Journey while visiting the Canaveral Seashore and Kennedy Space Center. The campground was quiet and maintained. The staff were kind as well. Note: This is a KOA Journey and shouldn't be compared to a big resort. The trees and foliage around the park were classic Florida. I recommend for a casual stay.
