The presence of ducks implies a certain level of natural activity and charm. Another guest found their stay to be "good and quiet," with a "view at the lake" that was "really relaxing." This feedback paints a picture of a serene and peaceful atmosphere, ideal for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle. The campground's name itself, "Ruby Lake Campground," further emphasizes the presence of a lake as a central environmental feature, likely contributing to the overall tranquility and scenic beauty of the location.
While one review mentioned that "water access was flooded due to heavy rain," this seems to be an isolated incident related to weather conditions rather than a permanent feature of the environment. It does highlight the importance of being prepared for varying weather conditions when camping near any body of water.
Services and Amenities:
The limited reviews provide some insight into the services offered:
- Friendly and Helpful Staff: Both reviews specifically commend the staff. One reviewer thanked "Penny" for her assistance with hooking up, indicating that there are likely RV sites with hookups and that the staff is willing to help with the setup process. The general description of the staff as "friendly and helpful" suggests a positive and supportive service environment.
- Water Access (Usually): The name and a reviewer's comment about a lake view imply general water access, although it was temporarily flooded in one instance due to heavy rain. This suggests that under normal conditions, guests can likely enjoy the lake.
- Overnight Stays: One reviewer mentioned it being "convenient for spartan overnight stay," which implies that the campground accommodates short-term visitors looking for a basic and convenient place to stay.
The reviews do not provide details about other potential amenities such as restrooms, showers, fire pits, picnic tables, or specific types of campsites. However, the mention of "hooking up" suggests the presence of at least some RV-friendly sites with water and possibly electrical hookups.
Features and Highlights:
- Lakeside Setting: The presence of Ruby Lake (or a significant pond referred to as a lake) is a primary feature, offering potential for scenic views and a peaceful ambiance. For those seeking "lake camping West Virginia," this is a key attraction.
- Friendly Staff: The consistently positive comments about the staff indicate a welcoming and helpful service experience.
- Quiet Atmosphere: The description of the stay as "good and quiet" suggests that Ruby Lake Campground is a place where one can enjoy peace and tranquility.
- Wildlife (Ducks): The "cute little pond" being a "duck heaven" adds a touch of nature and potential wildlife viewing for visitors.
Potential Drawbacks:
The only potential drawback mentioned was the temporary flooding of water access due to heavy rain, which seems to be an environmental factor rather than a consistent issue with the campground itself. However, it serves as a reminder that weather can impact outdoor experiences.

May 08, 2024 · Henry DanicoWhat a great little place to stay! If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing camping get away, this is a a wonderful choice. If you are looking for a resort with fancy activities and services, you should probably be looking at hotels and not campgrounds. Level sites around the little lake with lots of opportunity to see geese and ducks. Kids will enjoy the playground.
Jun 18, 2022 · Annie FourmanIf you have to be a traveling motorcycle, is this a great place to stay. Mr. joe and his lovely wife will surely take care of you.
Jan 26, 2024 · dcijams M. BRADYIts a small campground located in the middle of a mobile home park. We didn't think we would like it at first. We were wrong. There is a bath house. Not very modern, but comfortable. A laundry room. Free wifi. And the owner - Joe - is a prince of a fellow that went out of his way to make our week long stay comfortable. I would recommend this park to everyone and plan on staying again.
