Shavers Fork Campground Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" that combines the tranquility of riverside camping with access to recreational activities? Consider Shavers Fork Campground, located at Faulkner Rd, Elkins, WV 26241, USA. You can reach them at (304) 282-3463 or their mobile number +1 304-282-3463 for inquiries and reservations. Based on recent customer experiences, Shavers Fork Campground offers a picturesque setting along the water, opportunities for fishing, and a generally positive atmosphere, though there are a few points to be aware of.
One satisfied camper reported having a "great time" at a "nice shaded back in site (6) right on the water's edge!" This highlights the availability of waterfront campsites, which are often highly sought after for their scenic views and easy access to the river. The reviewer also commented on the campground bathrooms, describing them as having concrete floors but being "clean," which is a practical piece of information for potential campers. For those interested in angling, the review mentions "lots of good fish in the river," making Shavers Fork an appealing destination for fishing enthusiasts. The staff was described as "friendly," contributing to a positive overall experience. A suggestion for improvement was the need for "WIFI in the entire park," indicating that internet access might be limited or not available in all areas.
Another reviewer praised the "beauty scenery" and the "nice people" but noted that the "check in was not a great experience." They described a situation where "there was no one at the camp store to help with check in" and they had to contact someone by phone to learn that their keys were in the cabin and it was open. This suggests that the check-in process might sometimes be self-service or could experience staffing inconsistencies. This is something to keep in mind when planning your arrival.
A significant piece of information from this review is a potential discrepancy regarding the address. The reviewer stated that "the address that is on the website is 1.45 hours away from the actual campground which doesn’t make any cents." This is crucial information for local users planning their trip, advising them to double-check the correct address or directions to avoid unnecessary travel. The address provided in the initial information (Faulkner Rd, Elkins, WV 26241, USA) should be used, but it's wise to verify it when making a booking.
On the positive side, this reviewer mentioned that "the hot tub was great" and the "cleanness of the cabin was awesome," indicating that if you opt for cabin lodging, you can expect a clean and enjoyable stay with the added benefit of a hot tub. Despite the check-in issue, they acknowledged the positive aspects of their stay.
Based on these reviews, Shavers Fork Campground offers a "camping near me" experience characterized by beautiful riverside scenery, opportunities for fishing, and friendly service. They have both campsites right on the water and cabin rentals, some of which include access to a hot tub. However, potential visitors should be prepared for the possibility of a less-than-seamless check-in process and be aware of the potential for limited WiFi coverage. It's also essential to use the correct address for the campground to avoid travel issues.
For local users in the Elkins, WV, area or those willing to travel a bit for a scenic riverside camping or cabin experience, Shavers Fork Campground presents a compelling option. The availability of waterfront sites is a significant draw for those who enjoy being close to the water, whether for fishing, relaxation, or simply enjoying the view. The mention of clean bathrooms for campers and clean cabins for those opting for lodging suggests a commitment to hygiene. The friendly staff also contributes to a welcoming atmosphere.
While promotional information isn't explicitly provided in the reviews, the positive comments about the scenery, fishing, and the hot tub (for cabin guests) can be seen as implicit endorsements. The fact that one reviewer recommends the campground suggests a generally satisfactory experience despite the noted issues.
To get the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding campsite and cabin availability, specific amenities, and to confirm the correct address and check-in procedures, local users are encouraged to contact Shavers Fork Campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (304) 282-3463 or +1 304-282-3463. They will be able to provide details on rates, booking policies, and any current guidelines for guests.
In conclusion, if you're a local resident seeking "camping near me" with the allure of a river setting, good fishing, and the option of cabin rentals with amenities like a hot tub, Shavers Fork Campground near Elkins, WV, is worth considering. While there might be some variability in the check-in experience and WiFi availability, the beautiful scenery, friendly staff, and the quality of the accommodations (especially the cabins) seem to offer a positive and enjoyable outdoor getaway.

Had a great time. Nice shaded back in site (6) right on the waters edge! Typical campground bathrooms, concrete floor but they’re clean. Lots of good fish in the river, friendly staff. Need WIFI in the entire park! We recommend!
Apr 20, 2025 · Carl ReddingBeauty scenery, nice people but the check in was not a great experience. There was no one at the camp store to help with check in until finally we were able to get someone on the phone to tell us our keys were in the cabin and it was open. The address that is on the website is 1.45 hours away from the actual campground which doesn’t make any cents. The hot tub was great cleanness of the cabin was awesome, we just had a bad experience with checking in.
Aug 07, 2022 · Estell LewisThe owner is friendly and helpful. It's a wonderful family place to get away for a weekend or the summer. Fishing, Kayaking, tubing or just relaxing along the river bank. Grounds are very clean and maintained.

May 01, 2025 · Debbie GalesWe stayed here this past weekend in one of their cabins. Cabin was beautifully decorated with antiques/primitives. Campground was very clean and peaceful. Everyone from their employees to other campers were very friendly towards us. Made some great new friends while on our stay here. In fact, already booked another cabin here in July and looking forward to it. Thanks Scott and your employees for your hospitality.
