Double Falls Campground Introduce
For local adventurers seeking a tranquil and picturesque 'camping near me' experience in Montana, Double Falls Campground, located near Augusta, MT 59410, offers a charming and secluded retreat. This campground, a hidden gem within the 'camping near me' category, is characterized by its natural beauty, the soothing presence of North Fork Ford Creek, and its close proximity to breathtaking waterfalls. While noted for a somewhat steep entrance that might pose a challenge for larger campers, Double Falls Campground promises an intimate and rewarding outdoor experience, particularly for those who value privacy and the sounds of nature.
The environment of Double Falls Campground is defined by its intimate connection to the natural landscape. Situated alongside North Fork Ford Creek, the campground offers all four of its campsites with lovely creekside views, allowing campers to fall asleep to the gentle murmur of flowing water and wake up to the serene sights and sounds of the creek. The presence of a waterfall just a short 1/8th of a mile hike from the campground adds a significant element of natural wonder, providing an easily accessible and "amazing" attraction for visitors. The "beautiful little campground" atmosphere, as described by a prospective camper, suggests a setting that is both aesthetically pleasing and conducive to relaxation. The fact that a visitor found it empty on a Saturday in August hints at its secluded nature, potentially offering a more private experience compared to larger, more crowded campgrounds.
In terms of services, the available information indicates basic yet essential amenities. Campers can expect access to a toilet and a water source, which covers the fundamental needs for a comfortable overnight stay. The very reasonable fee of $10 per night makes Double Falls Campground an exceptionally affordable option for those seeking 'camping near me' on a budget. The limited number of campsites, only four in total, contributes to the campground's intimate and potentially secluded feel. This small size suggests a quieter and less crowded environment, ideal for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle.
The standout features of Double Falls Campground are undoubtedly its privacy and the easy access to the stunning waterfalls. One review specifically mentions that "one site is very private and awesome," suggesting that while other sites are also nice, this particular one offers an enhanced sense of seclusion. This makes Double Falls Campground particularly appealing to individuals or small groups seeking a more solitary camping experience. The very short hike to the "amazing" waterfalls is another significant draw, offering a quick and rewarding excursion for all campers. The sound of the falls likely adds to the ambient natural beauty of the area.
Given its location near Augusta, Montana, Double Falls Campground likely benefits from the surrounding natural attractions and recreational opportunities. While the immediate focus is on the creek and waterfalls, the broader area may offer additional hiking trails, fishing opportunities in nearby streams or rivers, and chances for wildlife observation. The rugged terrain, hinted at by the "steep entrance," suggests a more natural and less developed camping environment, which can be highly appealing to those who prefer a more authentic outdoor experience.
For local users considering a trip to Double Falls Campground, it is crucial to be aware of the potential limitations mentioned in the reviews. The "kind of steep entrance" might indeed be a concern for those with large campers or trailers, so it would be wise to assess the accessibility based on your vehicle type. Contacting the provided phone number, (406) 562-3247 or the mobile number +1 406-562-3247, is highly recommended to inquire about the entrance conditions and whether specific campsite sizes can accommodate your needs. It would also be prudent to ask about reservation policies, although the review noting it being empty on a summer Saturday suggests that reservations might not always be necessary, especially outside of peak times. However, confirming this is essential to avoid disappointment.
As no specific promotional information was included in the provided reviews, it's difficult to comment on any special offers. However, the already low price of $10 per night makes Double Falls Campground an incredibly budget-friendly option for 'camping near me'. Local users might want to inquire if there are any discounts for longer stays or any specific regulations regarding payment methods. Checking with local outdoor recreation websites or forums might also yield additional insights or recent information shared by other campers about any current promotions or unique aspects of the campground.
In conclusion, Double Falls Campground near Augusta, Montana, offers a unique and appealing 'camping near me' experience characterized by its beautiful creekside setting, proximity to stunning waterfalls, and a sense of seclusion. While the steep entrance might be a consideration for some, the promise of private campsites and the allure of easily accessible natural beauty make it a compelling choice for those seeking a peaceful and budget-friendly escape in the Montana wilderness. Local users are encouraged to contact the campground directly to gather more specific information about accessibility and any current regulations to ensure a smooth and enjoyable visit to this hidden gem.

Double Falls Campground Reviews
Did not camp here, but we will in the future. It's a beautiful little campground. Kind of steep entrance, I wouldn't recommend for large campers. One site is very private and awesome. A couple others are nice, but not as private. They all seem to have creekside views. Toilet, water, $10/night.We were there on a Saturday in August and no one was camping. The waterfalls at the end of a very short hike are amazing.
