The Environment: Breathtaking Views and Natural Beauty
The standout feature of Home Gulch Campground's environment is undoubtedly the breathtaking scenic views it offers. Situated in a location that provides panoramic vistas, campers can expect to be surrounded by the natural beauty of the Montana landscape. The specific types of views are not detailed, but the "stunning" descriptor suggests a visually impressive setting, potentially including mountains, valleys, or expansive skies. The fact that one reviewer noted a low occupancy during their week-long stay implies a sense of tranquility and space to fully appreciate the surroundings, although this may vary depending on the time of year.
The campground's proximity to trails and fishing opportunities further enhances its appeal to outdoor enthusiasts. While the specific types of trails and fishing spots are not mentioned, the implication is that campers will have easy access to explore the natural environment beyond the campground itself. This suggests a location within or near areas known for hiking and angling in the Augusta/Choteau region.
One reviewer mentioned the closest store being about 20 miles away in Augusta, MT, accessible via a well-maintained dirt road. This indicates a somewhat remote location, emphasizing the importance of coming prepared with necessary supplies. However, the maintained road suggests that access is generally not difficult.
The long-standing positive impression of the campground, with one reviewer noting its perfection in both 2002 and their more recent visit, speaks to the consistent quality and enduring appeal of Home Gulch.
Services and Amenities: Essential Comforts in a Natural Setting

Home Gulch Campground Reviews
This place was exceptional. The views were stunning, and not a lot of people stayed the week I did. The campground is only 10 dollars a night. There are two bathrooms and two water pumps. Very close to trails, fishing, and more. The closest store is about 20 miles in Augusta Mt. It's mostly dirt road, but we'll maintained.
Sep 10, 2024 · StartLivingprobably one of my favorite campgrounds in the Augusta/Choteau area. water available on site, clean restrooms, and amazing views. I spent a couple weeks here back in 2002, and the place is still as perfect as it was then. And the Sun Canyon Lodge is just up the road with great food and drink! You can't go wrong with this campground.
Aug 12, 2017 · Andrew YuhasNice area. $10 per night. Most all the campsites were overgrown with weeds and grass...the forest service needs to invest in a weed wacker! We stayed in the free area just before the official campground, not wooded very well and only about 3 or 4 sites worth camping at. Horribly windy on this trip. Great view of the river/reservoir.
