Salem Campground & RV Park Introduce
When searching for “RV parks near me,” it’s essential to gather comprehensive information to make an informed decision about your temporary or long-term accommodation. Salem Campground & RV Park, located at 3700 Hagers Grove Rd SE, Salem, OR 97317, USA, is one such option in the Salem area. This introduction aims to provide a detailed overview of the park based on publicly available information, including customer reviews, to help local users understand what to expect.
Salem Campground & RV Park can be reached by phone at (503) 581-6736 or via mobile phone at +1 503-581-6736. These contact details are crucial for inquiries about availability, rates, and specific amenities.
Based on recent customer reviews, it appears that Salem Campground & RV Park is currently facing significant challenges regarding its management, maintenance, and overall environment. Multiple reviewers have expressed strong dissatisfaction, describing the park as neglected and unsafe. These accounts highlight several critical areas that potential visitors should be aware of.
One of the most concerning issues raised is the alleged mismanagement and the resulting impact on the park's atmosphere. According to a detailed review, there are claims that the manager and her son accept drugs as payment for rent, leading to visible signs of drug use throughout the property and creating a potentially dangerous and unpredictable environment. Such allegations, if true, would undoubtedly be a major deterrent for individuals and families seeking a safe and peaceful stay.
The physical condition of Salem Campground & RV Park also appears to be a significant point of concern. A particularly alarming incident described by a reviewer involves a trailer leaking raw sewage directly into the street. The reviewer noted the unbearable odor and the clear source of the leak, identifying its location within the park. This situation not only poses a severe health hazard but also suggests a lack of adherence to basic sanitation and safety standards. The presence of such conditions would understandably lead to a negative experience for any visitor.
Another advertised amenity that has reportedly fallen short of expectations is the WiFi service. One reviewer recounted spending hours waiting for the manager’s son to potentially fix the connection, only to be met with indifference and a non-functional service. In today’s connected world, reliable internet access is often a crucial factor for travelers, and the discrepancy between the advertised and actual service can be a significant inconvenience.
Beyond these specific incidents, the general upkeep of the campground seems to be lacking. Reviews mention scattered trash, overgrown weeds, misplaced vehicles, and dilapidated trailers filled with junk. This pervasive neglect suggests a lack of attention to basic maintenance and an overall sense of disorder within the park. The reviewers describe a sense of complacency from the management regarding these issues, further contributing to the negative perception of the campground.
The alleged complicity of the owner in allowing such conditions to persist is also a serious concern raised in the reviews. The fact that these issues appear to be ongoing suggests either a lack of awareness or a tolerance for standards that are far below acceptable levels for an RV park. This raises questions about the overall management philosophy and the commitment to providing a safe and clean environment for residents and visitors.
One review also mentions negative interactions with the front office staff, describing a "snooty" attitude and unprofessional behavior. This can create a poor first impression and contribute to an overall negative experience, regardless of the physical condition of the park.
Furthermore, there is a mention of strict rules regarding the age of RVs, with the park reportedly not accepting models older than 2012, even if they are in excellent condition. While such rules might be in place for aesthetic or maintenance reasons, the manner in which potential residents are treated when inquiring about these rules can significantly impact their perception of the park. The reviewer who was turned away despite having a well-maintained older RV and providing references felt unfairly treated.
The same review also corroborated the observation of trash-filled trailers and a general sense of unease within the park, with residents reportedly giving "dirty looks." This suggests a potentially unwelcoming or tense atmosphere within the community.
An especially disturbing anecdote shared by a reviewer involves the alleged inhumane treatment of a resident’s pets, with a report of someone being locked out of their RV with twelve cats inside. If true, this incident points to a severe lack of empathy and disregard for the well-being of both residents and animals.
It is important to note that these observations are based on publicly available customer reviews and may not represent the entirety of experiences at Salem Campground & RV Park. However, the consistency and severity of the issues raised warrant serious consideration for anyone looking for RV parks in the Salem area.
For local users searching for “RV parks near me” on platforms offering services and goods for sale related to RV accommodations, it is crucial to weigh all available information. While Salem Campground & RV Park is listed as an option, the recent feedback suggests significant shortcomings in its management, maintenance, safety, and customer service. Potential visitors should be prepared for the possibility of encountering unsanitary conditions, unreliable amenities, and a negative overall environment.
Given the concerns raised, it would be prudent for individuals and families seeking RV parks in Salem to explore alternative options and to thoroughly research any potential campground before making a reservation or committing to a long-term stay. Visiting the site in person, if possible, and seeking the most recent reviews from multiple sources can provide a more comprehensive understanding of the current conditions.
In conclusion, while Salem Campground & RV Park is geographically located within the Salem, Oregon area and may appear in listings for “RV parks near me,” the publicly available reviews paint a concerning picture of its current state. Potential local users should carefully consider the reported issues related to management, safety, cleanliness, amenities, and customer service before choosing this campground for their RV accommodation needs. It is recommended to seek out other RV park options in the vicinity that may offer a more positive and reliable experience.

Salem Campground & RV Park Reviews
A Complete Disaster — Avoid at All CostsStaying at this RV park was an absolute nightmare. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this place is not just “run down” — it’s completely neglected and unsafe. The issues start at the top, with the owner and management, and trickle down to the tenants. It’s common knowledge among those familiar with the park that the manager and her son allegedly accept drugs as payment for rent. The signs of meth use are unmistakable and create an environment that feels dangerous and unpredictable. The condition of the park itself is appalling. During my two-night stay, I encountered one of the most alarming issues — a trailer leaking raw sewage directly into the street. The odor was unbearable, and the source was easy to trace: a trailer located in the middle row, on the right side, about 4-5 trailers down from the office. This is not just a health hazard, but a blatant violation of safety standards.Adding to the frustration, the park falsely advertises having WiFi. In reality, there’s no functional connection. I wasted hours waiting for the manager’s son, who sat glued to his phone on the office bench for five hours after telling me he “may or may not” have it running before 6 PM. His indifference was beyond unprofessional — it was downright insulting. As you walk around the park, the neglect is impossible to ignore. Trash is scattered everywhere, weeds overrun the grounds, cars are out of place, and trailers are falling apart under the weight of hoarded junk. The lack of care and complacency from those managing this place is staggering. They’re lazy, argumentative, and clearly unbothered by the chaos around them. What’s worse, the owner seems complicit in all of this. Allowing the management to operate like this — turning a blind eye to drug use and unsanitary conditions — suggests that he’s either unaware of the reality or perfectly content with running his property straight into the ground. It’s hard to believe that anyone who cared even remotely about their investment would let things deteriorate to this point.Frankly, I’m shocked that the city hasn’t stepped in to shut this place down. It feels like it’s only one sewage leak or police raid away from being condemned. I wouldn’t recommend this park to anyone, under any circumstances.
Mar 28, 2025 · Mitchell DavisWould give a zero star if I could, me and my husband are both in our 20s and working full time. I called and talked to them about moving in there and the lady right off the bat wasn’t pleasant. But said I could turn in an application anyway even though they don’t allow anything older than a 2012. Ours is a 2009 and in perfect condition. I had pictures of it printed off and everything for them to see. We have multiple references from past landlords also. Well I went into the office to turn in all the paperwork and got an immediate no and no exceptions. I which is super unfortunate. Everything that you’ve read in the reviews is correct the front office lady is a little snooty and can’t hide her facial expressions. The place still looks like a dump there’s a few trailers in the back that are just trash filled. People give you dirty looks throughout the whole place. The owner said all the older trailers have been grandfathered in. The only reason we applied to get in here is because it’s the only place open in Salem accepting people. Super unfortunate. I get the owner is trying to clean the place up but being nasty towards potential new customers who actually work and don’t live off the state isn’t going to get you anywhere. Also having a drug runned facility isn’t going to get anywhere either. I herd from someone there that they locked someone out of there rv who had 12 cats. They pad locked the rv with all 12 cats inside which is in humane and disgusting. Hopefully they turn there attitudes around because it’s gross to treat people poorly. The owner and the lady in the office interpreted us while we were trying to talk too. Hopefully they get their place shut down and maybe they’ll have a different attitude towards people 👍
Feb 02, 2025 · Hannah ReneeReally unfriendly people here. Came here to dump sewage and felt extremely uncomfortable walking in the office here. Everyone stares at you like you're about to shoot up the place, no one says a word to you. But the creepy old man will sit in his golf cart watching you the entire time you dump. Kind of felt scared for my life stopping in this place. All kinds of suspicious people walking around.
Nov 27, 2024 · LI have an acquaintance that lives here. This place looks and apparently ran like a homeless camp. Its the nastiest RV park I've ever seen. Needs new management for sure.
Dec 05, 2024 · Pam CagleThis place is disgusting and has a BAD drug and criminal problem!! Most people here do drugs and have a criminal record. There’s a homeless camp right behind the campground. Most RV’s aren’t even drivable and have tarps over them because they are falling apart. RUN!!!!!!!!
