Based on recent customer reviews, this campground offers a mix of positive aspects, such as well-maintained facilities and engaging activities, alongside some potential drawbacks that local users should be aware of.
The Environment of PA Dutch Country
While the reviews do not extensively detail the natural environment of the campground itself, its location in Pennsylvania Dutch Country suggests a setting characterized by rolling farmlands, picturesque landscapes, and a generally peaceful rural atmosphere. The presence of hookups at the campsites implies that the campground is equipped to accommodate RVs and campers comfortably. One positive review mentions "well-kept" sites that are "easy to access," suggesting a level and organized layout that facilitates a smooth camping experience. However, it's important to note a concerning point from another review regarding a "gun range adjacent" to the campground, which could potentially lead to noise issues and may be a factor for those seeking a completely tranquil environment.
Services and Amenities: A Mixed Bag
The services and amenities at Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country appear to have received mixed feedback. On the positive side, one reviewer explicitly states that the "bath houses are extremely well maintained," which is a significant factor for comfort and hygiene during a camping trip. The availability of "hook ups" at the sites is also noted as a positive aspect. However, a contrasting review expresses disappointment due to the closure of amenities, including the store. This suggests potential inconsistencies in the availability of services. Furthermore, it is explicitly mentioned that "there is no wifi" at the campground, which might be a drawback for those who need to stay connected. The experience with a discount card was also negative, with the campground reportedly refusing to honor a Passport America discount despite initially being expected to, leading to financial frustration for the guest.
Features and Activities: Family-Friendly Engagement
Despite some of the service-related issues, Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country seems to offer engaging features and activities, particularly for families. One reviewer enthusiastically recounts participating in a "(free) family sand art event" that was "well-organized" and run by an "extremely sweet" person. The presence of a "mini golf area" that was enjoyed multiple times suggests another recreational option available within the campground. The same reviewer also mentioned a "golf cart parade" as an enjoyable event, highlighting a sense of community and fun within the campground. These positive experiences indicate that Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country does offer opportunities for family entertainment and social interaction, contributing to a potentially enjoyable stay despite some of the noted limitations.
Important Considerations for Local Campers
For local users considering Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country for their ‘camping near me’ needs, it’s important to weigh both the positive and negative feedback. The well-maintained bathhouses and the availability of family-friendly activities like sand art and mini golf are definite pluses. The easy access and well-kept nature of the campsites also contribute to a positive experience. However, potential campers should be aware of the reported closure of amenities like the store and the lack of WiFi. The presence of an adjacent gun range and the potential for noise could also be a concern for some. Additionally, the negative experience with the Passport America discount card serves as a cautionary tale regarding advertised discounts. Local users might want to inquire about the current status of amenities and the operation of the gun range before booking, and clarify any discount policies directly with the campground management to avoid disappointment.

Objective Introduction Based on the Provided Customer Reviews
The customer reviews for Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country in Manheim, PA, present a somewhat contradictory picture. One reviewer expresses disappointment due to closed amenities (including the store), the lack of WiFi, the presence of an adjacent gun range, and a negative experience with a discount card. In contrast, another reviewer praises the extremely well-maintained bathhouses, the well-kept and easily accessible sites, the pleasant staff, and the enjoyable family-friendly activities such as sand art and mini golf. This suggests that while some aspects of the campground, particularly the cleanliness of the bathhouses and the organized activities, are highly regarded, there may be inconsistencies in amenity availability and potential issues with noise and advertised discounts. Potential local users should consider these contrasting experiences when evaluating Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country for their camping needs.
For local users searching for ‘camping near me’ in the Pennsylvania Dutch Country, Thousand Trails offers well-maintained bathhouses and engaging family activities. However, it is important to be aware of potential limitations such as intermittent amenity closures, the absence of WiFi, and the proximity to a gun range that may cause noise. Additionally, the reported issue with discount card acceptance warrants direct verification with the campground. While the positive aspects like cleanliness and family activities may be appealing, local campers should ensure that the potential drawbacks do not outweigh the benefits for their specific camping preferences and needs.

Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country Reviews
Disappointed. We did have hook ups which were good, however. amenities were closed, even the store. There is no wifi . Also, there is a gun range adjacent which can cause possible issues. They were supposed to take our Passport America discount card. but when we showed our card, they said we don't accept. After 7 calls to both PA and Thousand Trails, there was no resolution and we ate the $168.00 discount. Lesson learned.
Apr 24, 2025 · Sheryl StrattonI’ve been at this campground multiple times. The bath houses are extremely well maintained, the sites are well-kept and easy to access. The staff is extremely pleasant and genuinely want customers to have a great experience. We participated in the (free) family sand art event and it was well-prganized and the person running it was extremely sweet. We used the mini golf area multiple times and thoroughly enjoyed the golf cart parade. We are planning our next family vacation around this campground.
Sep 15, 2024 · Mrs CavayeahVery convenient and easy to make reservations with. We were extremely pleased with our stay. We highly recommend coming to this location if you want a great campground. They take pride in the cleanliness of all of the facilities. Our daughter said the pool was a little colder than any of the other campgrounds we have been to. For us, the best part was that they allowed us to bring our three dogs. Big plus for us, as we really love our fur babies.
Jun 16, 2024 · Robert ShermanWe stayed over Labor Day Weekend as a last minute trip (we were supposed to travel to Virginia, but life had different plans) I have to say, I was surprised sites were still available. We had a warm welcome from the lady at the ranger booth when we arrived on Saturday afternoon, and were pleasantly surprised we got to pick our own site. She suggested to us which ones were open and available. Our site was nice, typically camping site, wooded shaded in the C section. I’ve actually sent in an email request for a seasonal for next year. We were pleasantly surprised with this campground. Neighbors, staff were all friendly and waved.
Sep 02, 2024 · Kathleen HutchisonThis campground is amazing! People are so friendly! Staff is great and very helpful. Amazing amenities. The lots are nice size and with the tall trees it feels very comfortable and cool.Only issue is the water is brown and smells like metal. Other than that, everything else is great
