Somerset Beach Campground Introduce
Looking for the perfect "camping near me" experience in the Somerset Center, Michigan area? Somerset Beach Campground, located at 9822 Brooklawn Ct, Somerset Center, MI 49282, USA, could be your ideal destination. Based on enthusiastic customer reviews, this campground appears to offer a delightful and well-rounded camping experience, particularly for families. Let's delve into what makes Somerset Beach Campground a potentially fantastic local getaway.
One of the standout features highlighted by multiple reviewers is its family-friendly atmosphere. One customer mentioned it's a "great family friendly place to unwind and relax sitting by the fire," immediately painting a picture of a peaceful and enjoyable environment for all ages. Another reviewer echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the "Nice Beach for the kids!" This suggests that families with young children will appreciate the dedicated beach area, providing opportunities for fun and safe water play. The presence of a beach is a significant amenity, especially during the summer months, and adds to the appeal for those searching for "camping near me" with kid-friendly features.
Beyond the beach, Somerset Beach Campground boasts a range of recreational facilities that cater to children and adults alike. The availability of a "Zip line, small archery range, large playground" is explicitly mentioned as being "great for the kids." These features offer engaging activities that go beyond traditional camping, providing entertainment and opportunities for active fun. For local users seeking a campground that offers more than just a campsite, these amenities could be a major draw.
The natural environment of Somerset Beach Campground also receives high praise. One reviewer noted that "wildlife abound," suggesting a setting where nature enthusiasts can appreciate the local fauna. The campground is situated on a "Beautiful private lake," which not only enhances the scenic beauty but also provides opportunities for water-based activities. The fact that they "do offer small boat rentals" is a significant plus for those who enjoy exploring the water, whether for leisurely paddling or perhaps fishing. This private lake adds a unique charm and a focal point for relaxation and recreation.
Practical amenities are also well-regarded at Somerset Beach Campground. Reviewers specifically mentioned that "Showers and restrooms are very clean, along with all the sites and public areas." Cleanliness is a crucial factor for a comfortable camping experience, and these positive comments indicate that the campground management prioritizes hygiene. Furthermore, "All the campsites are on nice grass (and decent dirt road lanes) and have nice fire pits with covers to protect against rain." Grassy campsites contribute to comfort, while the inclusion of fire pits with covers adds convenience and allows for campfires even in less-than-ideal weather conditions. The "decent dirt road lanes" suggest that navigating the campground should be relatively easy.
An additional, and perhaps unexpected, feature is that "They also offer RV storage in the back!" While not directly related to the camping experience itself, this service could be highly valuable for local RV owners who need a convenient place to store their vehicles when not in use. This demonstrates that Somerset Beach Campground caters to a broader range of needs within the local community.
To summarize the environment, Somerset Beach Campground appears to be nestled in a location where wildlife is present, centered around a beautiful private lake. The well-maintained grounds, grassy campsites, and clean facilities contribute to a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The recreational amenities like the zip line, archery range, and playground enhance the family-friendly appeal.
In terms of services, you can expect clean restrooms and showers, boat rentals for the private lake, and potentially other standard campground services. The friendly staff, particularly "the ladies in the trading post" who were described as "very sweet and patient," add to the positive atmosphere. The trading post itself likely offers basic camping supplies, snacks, and perhaps souvenirs.
The features of Somerset Beach Campground are numerous and appealing: a private lake with boat rentals, a nice beach for kids, a zip line, a small archery range, a large playground, clean facilities (showers, restrooms, and sites), grassy campsites with fire pits and covers, and even RV storage. These features collectively make it a strong contender for those searching for "camping near me" that offers more than just a place to sleep.
While specific promotional information isn't provided in the reviews, the overwhelmingly positive feedback acts as a strong endorsement. The fact that one reviewer mentioned it's a "new find" and they've visited for the "last two weekends" speaks volumes about their satisfaction and the campground's appeal. For local users looking for a reliable and enjoyable "camping near me" option, Somerset Beach Campground seems to be a highly recommended choice.

Jun 20, 2021 · Krista HardingI've been visiting Somerset camp and beach all my life. It has always been a sanctuary for peace and God. This is a blessed place.
Feb 09, 2025 · Philip RipleyMe and my husband stayed a few weeks ago due to the proximity of it to Bundy Hill. It was decently clean and quiet. Although this was our own fault for not looking into it further, to be fair the big cross on the building should have given this away, be aware that this campground is a Christian affiliated campground, if we knew this we would not have gone because overall we didn’t like the atmosphere but again not really their fault. We were right by the bathroom, and I wish I would have taken a video of the bathroom at night because it was covered in earwigs… I’m talking walls, floors, doors, toilets, never seen anything like that before so maybe they should spray something in there but otherwise during the day the bathrooms were fine. Swimming and beach area is very small and be aware of extra rules due to the religious affiliation. We left early but were happy with how close it was to Bundy hill and also glad they didn’t mind our four wheelers on the camp site in our truck . Also no fire pit on our campsite which was disappointing.
Aug 07, 2024 · Avery HooverThis is one of my favorite campgrounds! A group of us come every Memorial Day weekend. If you have a small group coming I recommend getting the group area. The campground is beautiful and has so many amenities for the kids and very reasonable prices. I highly recommended coming to check it out.
