Squatchy Adventures RV Campground Introduce
For local users seeking "camping near me" in the Duffield, VA, area, particularly those with RVs and an interest in the historical sites of Rye Cove, Squatchy Adventures RV Campground, located at 1750 Clinch River Hwy, Duffield, VA 24244, USA, presents a mixed picture based on the available customer reviews. It’s crucial for local users to consider both the positive personal endorsement and the significant negative experiences reported by other visitors to form an informed opinion.
Regarding the environment, one review offers a starkly negative description, calling it "an arm-pit of a grassy parking lot with horrible river access." This reviewer also noted that "weeds were 12 inches tall and all throughout the 'parking' area and site," and that the picnic table was "rotten and nasty." This paints a picture of a potentially unkempt and less-than-desirable natural setting. In contrast, the other review, while not detailing the environment, suggests a positive experience, urging immediate contact and highlighting the potential proximity to the Clinch River. Local users prioritizing a scenic or well-maintained environment should weigh these contrasting descriptions carefully. The negative review's mention of poor river access is particularly relevant for those hoping for a riverside camping experience. It also claims that the pictures on the campground's site do not accurately reflect the current conditions, suggesting a potential discrepancy between advertised and actual environment.
The services and features of Squatchy Adventures RV Campground also receive contrasting feedback. One reviewer praises the owner, Mr. Coleman, for honesty, good prices, and attention to customer needs, recommending it as a "top rated" vacation investment. This suggests a personalized and positive interaction with the management. However, the other review details significant issues. The reviewer with a 43' toy hauler reports being misled about accessibility, leading to damage to their RV due to a steep driveway accessed via a neighbor's land. This raises concerns about the campground's suitability for larger RVs and the accuracy of the information provided regarding site access. The reviewer also mentions that if one just needs a place to "plug up and dump tanks," the campground might suffice, implying that basic utility hookups for RVs are available. However, they explicitly advise against expecting a nice "river side" camping experience based on their observations. The mention of the campground responding to the negative review after eight months, while confusing the reviewer with someone else, suggests a potential lack of attentiveness or accuracy in their customer service follow-up.
The features of Squatchy Adventures RV Campground are difficult to ascertain definitively due to the conflicting reviews. The positive review emphasizes the owner's character and the potential value for money, suggesting that the personal interaction and pricing might be key features. The proximity to historical Rye Cove and Duffield is also mentioned as a potential draw for those interested in local history. However, the negative review highlights issues that would typically be considered significant drawbacks: poor site conditions (weeds, rotten picnic table), misleading information about accessibility for large RVs, and problematic river access. The reviewer suggests that the campground might only be suitable for basic RV utility needs rather than a pleasant camping experience. The discrepancy between the positive personal vouch and the detailed negative account underscores the importance for local users to seek current and potentially more varied feedback before making a decision.
Promotional information is not provided in the reviews. Local users interested in learning about current pricing, availability, or any special offers at Squatchy Adventures RV Campground should contact them directly at (423) 708-4178 or +1 423-708-4178. When calling, it would be prudent to inquire specifically about site accessibility for different sizes of RVs, the current condition of the campsites and amenities, and the nature of the river access. Given the starkly contrasting reviews, asking for recent photos or testimonials might also be helpful for local users to get a more up-to-date and comprehensive understanding of what to expect.
In conclusion, Squatchy Adventures RV Campground near Duffield, VA, presents a complex picture for local users seeking "camping near me." While one review offers a strong personal endorsement of the owner and suggests good value for RV sites near historical locations, another provides a detailed account of significant negative experiences related to site conditions, accessibility for large RVs, and river access. Local users should carefully consider both perspectives and are strongly advised to contact the campground directly to ask specific questions and potentially seek more recent feedback to make an informed decision about whether this campground meets their needs for a local RV camping experience.

Squatchy Adventures RV Campground Reviews
Contact them immediately. Make this your first and only need for RV sites near historical Rye Cove and Duffield. Honest. Good prices. They pay attention to customer needs. Top rated for your vacation investment. I have camped with Mr Coleman for years and personally vouch for this gentleman. Come see him. You won't regret it.
Apr 10, 2025 · Christopher MeadeMy first review got deleted, so I'll try again. My first review was also very polite. Not this time.SUMMARY: DO NOT STAY HERE.It is an arm-pit of a grassy parking lot with horrible river access.I was misled regarding accessibility for my 43' toy hauler. He told me to "use the exit" to enter, which isn't even on their land (it belongs to the neighbor, who was the only bright spot of our stay- he was awesome). As a result, I damaged the rear corner of my RV due to the steep decline down the driveway.None of the pictures on their site accurately depict the campground. Perhaps YEARS ago, but not now.The picnic table was rotten and nasty.Weeds were 12 inches tall and all throughout the "parking" area and site.If you just need a place to plug up and dump tanks, this is fine. But don't expect a nice "river side" camping experience. For that, go down river about 5 miles.EDIT: After 8 months, they responded to my review (below). They have me confused with someone else. We stayed there for several days (no other options), met the neighbor (the one who actually owns the entrance "ramp", and the full-time, self-proclaimed "manager" of the campground). We were there July 1-3, 2024.
Apr 10, 2025 · David ParrPeaceful location for our long-term stay while working in the area. Price was very affordable. Large site, level, and the private river access was great!
Apr 12, 2025 · Elizabeth MullinsAbsolutely LOVED this location and campsite! Beautiful, peaceful, clean and reasonably priced. Highly recommended!
Apr 12, 2025 · Nancy PlanteCalled here to try and make a reservation and the woman who answered the phone was rude. She didn't even answer the phone like a business. I had to ask if it was a campground. She didn't want to make the reservation for me because it was too far out and she said she didn't want to kick out her full-timers for someone only wanting to stay for a weekend. I was trying to book a year out, but maybe she has full-timers staying more than a year out or something, not sure. She wouldn't explain it to me, so I had to hang up.
