St. Johns Campground Introduce
For local residents of East Palatka, Florida, and the surrounding areas seeking "camping near me," St. Johns Campground, located at 436 US-17, East Palatka, FL 32131, USA, offers a potentially convenient option along the St. Johns River. You can reach them at (386) 328-4470 or +1 386-328-4470 for inquiries and reservations. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground boasts a pool and plenty of shade-providing trees, creating a comfortable environment. However, it's important for prospective visitors to be aware of their policy regarding campfires and the absence of picnic tables and fire rings at individual campsites.
The environment of St. Johns Campground appears to be characterized by its natural setting with "lots of trees for shade." This is a significant advantage, especially for camping in the Florida climate, as ample shade can make a stay much more comfortable, particularly during the hotter months. The presence of mature trees also contributes to a pleasant and potentially scenic atmosphere within the campground. Given its name, it is highly likely that the campground is located near or has access to the St. Johns River, which is a major waterway in Florida known for its natural beauty and opportunities for fishing, boating, and wildlife viewing. Local users who appreciate being near a riverine environment might find this aspect of St. Johns Campground particularly appealing.
In terms of services and features, one notable amenity is the presence of a "pool," which can be a significant draw, especially for families and those looking to cool off during their stay. The availability of a pool suggests that the campground aims to provide recreational opportunities beyond just the basic camping experience. Another positive aspect highlighted in the reviews is the helpfulness and kindness of the manager, who was noted for assisting a tired traveler in getting situated and creating a welcoming and safe atmosphere. The presence of both "several long term people and short terms" indicates that the campground accommodates a variety of visitors, fostering a sense of community.
However, there are some notable limitations mentioned in the reviews that local users should be aware of. One visitor specifically pointed out that the campground does not provide a "picnic table or a fire ring with the site." This is a departure from the typical amenities found at many campgrounds and might require visitors to bring their own portable tables if desired. Furthermore, when the visitor inquired about bringing their own fire ring, they were informed that "this campground doesn’t allow campfires." This is a significant policy that might deter those who enjoy the traditional campfire experience as part of their camping trip. The reviewer expressed a hope that the campground would "rethink that policy."
Based on the limited information, we can infer some other potential services and features that St. Johns Campground might offer:
- **Campsites:** These would likely accommodate RVs and possibly tents. The type and availability of hookups (water, electricity, sewer) are not specified in the reviews and would need to be confirmed directly with the campground.
- **Restroom facilities:** Campgrounds typically provide restrooms for guests. The cleanliness and condition of these are not mentioned in the reviews.
- **Shower facilities:** Showers may or may not be available; this is another detail that local users should verify.
- **Potential for river access:** Given its name and likely location, there might be facilities or access points for enjoying the St. Johns River, such as a boat ramp or fishing docks. This is speculative and would need to be confirmed.
- **Long-term stay options:** The mention of "several long term people" suggests that the campground may offer extended stay rates or facilities for long-term residents, which could be relevant for local individuals needing temporary accommodation.
- **A sense of safety and welcome:** The positive experience of a tired traveler feeling "welcome and safe" indicates that the campground management prioritizes a positive and secure environment for guests.
It is important to note that the absence of information about certain common campground amenities (like picnic tables and fire rings at each site) in the reviews might indicate that they are indeed not provided. Local users should be prepared for this and inquire about alternatives or if personal provisions are permitted (within the no-campfire rule).
The provided reviews do not contain any specific promotional information for St. Johns Campground. Local residents interested in potential discounts for local stays, seasonal rates, or long-term stay options should contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers. They may have special offers that are not mentioned in these brief reviews. Checking online travel platforms or the campground's own website (if available) might also yield information about pricing and availability.
In conclusion, for local residents seeking "camping near me" in East Palatka, FL, St. Johns Campground offers a location with ample shade from trees and a swimming pool, which are significant advantages in the Florida climate. The friendly and helpful management contributes to a welcoming and safe atmosphere, and the campground accommodates both short-term and potentially long-term stays. However, it is crucial for prospective visitors to be aware that the campground does not provide picnic tables or fire rings at individual campsites and has a policy against campfires. Local users who prioritize these traditional camping elements might need to consider other options. To obtain complete information about campsite amenities, river access, long-term rates, and any potential promotions, contacting St. Johns Campground directly at (386) 328-4470 is highly recommended.

St. Johns Campground Reviews
I stopped here today to look at the campground. It has a pool and lots of trees for shade. My only complaint is that they don’t provide a picnic table or a fire ring with the site. When I asked if I could bring my own, they said this campground doesn’t allow campfires. I think they should rethink that policy.
Nov 25, 2023 · L CardinalOof, I found this place when I was exhausted and needed sleep. The manager came out to help me get situated. She was helpful and kind. There were several long term people and short terms. I felt welcome and safe.

Sep 13, 2023 · Donna WeymouthI feel like we was stuck on the side of the highway. We paid for a month and ended up leaving after 2 weeks. I know this place is updating and going through change and I can respect the process but it just seem like we were stuck there. The dumpster always smelled and seemed to be full 90% of the week. Witch is probably why we kept seeing roches. Our camper is clean, and we don't leave food or crumbs anywhere. After we seen 2 roaches it was time to go. If you are just passing through and need a place to park for the night this would be okay but I wouldn't recommend long term yet. The laundry room is basically outside. 3 washer 3 dryers 1 of each was out of service. There was only 1 clean laundry mat in the area worth using but you'll see that reflect in the price. Al in all I doubt we'd ever be back. We did ejoyed the trees and plants here. The lady at the front was very friendly and as helpful as she could be.
Sep 15, 2024 · Cody LongOlder park with new owners, it's a work in progress. Handy to St Augustine. Bathrooms and common room updated, laundry room outside - nice on a breezy hot day. Pool looked good. Lots of shady spots. New owners very helpful. Had room when everything near east coast & I95 was full. Dog friendly. Easy to find on Route 17. Stayed 4 days, with 20 foot trailer - saw several big RVs there.
