Based on the available feedback from fellow campers, Loop A provides a well-maintained camping environment amidst stunning scenery, catering to both tent and potentially RV campers, with access to a variety of outdoor activities.
When exploring options within the "camping near me" category, local users often prioritize scenic locations, well-kept facilities, and access to recreational activities. Table Rock State Park Campground Loop A appears to deliver on these fronts, situated within a state park known for its breathtaking mountain views, hiking trails, and a beautiful lake. The fact that it's an "older state park" mentioned by one reviewer doesn't detract from its appeal; instead, it's complemented by the observation that it is "well maintained," suggesting that the park service takes good care of its facilities, ensuring a pleasant experience for visitors.
For tent campers, Loop A seems to offer particularly appealing options. One reviewer specifically recommends site 52, highlighting its generous space and a flat area at the back ideal for tent setup. The added benefit of increased privacy compared to other sites and the presence of "good trees to hang hammocks from" makes this site a standout for those seeking a more secluded and relaxing tent camping experience. The reviewer does note that the site is on a slope, which could potentially lead to messiness in heavy rain, but during good weather, it appears to be a prime location within the loop.
The availability of a general store is a common convenience sought by campers. While the reviewer noted that the general store within the campground was closed (assumed to be due to the off-season), they also point out the proximity of the park headquarters across Highway 11, where basic necessities can be obtained. This accessibility to supplies, even if not directly within the campground loop, adds a layer of convenience for campers who might need to pick up essential items during their stay.
A major draw of Table Rock State Park, and by extension its campgrounds, is the abundance of outdoor activities. The iconic Table Rock Hike is specifically mentioned as a "beautiful" experience. The park also boasts other hiking trails, catering to various skill levels and offering different perspectives of the stunning natural landscape. For those visiting during the summer months, the lake is highlighted as "beautiful and good for a swim," providing a refreshing way to cool off after a hike or simply enjoy a leisurely day by the water. This combination of hiking and swimming opportunities makes Table Rock State Park Campground Loop A an attractive destination for a diverse range of outdoor enthusiasts.
Another reviewer also found the campground to be "really nice," further reinforcing the positive aspects of the camping experience within Loop A. While their specific site was shaded but "kind of muddy," they did observe that some spots had new gravel, suggesting ongoing efforts to improve the campsites. The reviewer also noted that their assigned spot was "really tight to get into," which, being on a mountain, they found understandable. This is a point for RV or larger vehicle owners to consider when booking; it might be wise to inquire about site sizes and accessibility.
The same reviewer provided feedback on the bathhouse facilities, mentioning the lack of hooks inside the shower (though a stool was present) and describing the shower heads as comparable to a "water hose mounted on the wall." While these points are areas for potential improvement, the overall positive sentiment towards the location and the activities available suggests that these minor inconveniences did not significantly detract from their enjoyment. The reviewer also highlighted that there are "lots for kids to do," making Table Rock State Park Campground Loop A a potentially excellent choice for family camping trips.

Table Rock State Park Campground Loop A Reviews
It is an older state park, but well maintained, and the area is beautiful! We tent camp and our favorite site is 52 because it is has a lot of room with a flat area at the back for the tent. It is more private this most of the sites with some good trees to hang hammocks from. It is on a slop so if there was a lot of rain it might be messy but we had great weather. The general store was closed, I am assuming because it’s the off season, but the park headquarters is just across highway 11 and you can get some basic things there. We did the Table Rock Hike and it was beautiful! There are other hikes around as well. If you are there in the summer the like if beautiful and good for a swim. We will definitely be back!
Mar 14, 2025 · Luke SummerlinThe campground was really nice. Our spot was shaded but kind of muddy. I saw some spots have new gravel down. That would have been nice. The spot we had was really tight to get into but being on a mountain it is understandable. The only thing I didn't like about the bath house was there was no hook to hang my anything inside the shower (there is a stool) and the shower heads I can compare to a water hose mounted on the wall. Other than that, I love this place and we will definitely be back. Lots for kids to do.
May 28, 2024 · Marie GNice, clean, camping area. Well kept. Had a great time. Only thing that sucked was wifi, but hey, your camping...
Nov 11, 2024 · David KilmerNice campground! We were there early Nov. 2022, #15. Alas, we had pretty marginal weather after our arrival and could not enjoy much of the hiking trails. We did walk the roads around the park, up past the Nature Center and around the lake.Site 15 was okay, we thought the best sites were 30, 36, 39, 47, 53.It's fairly remote so very spotty cell service, but wifi is offered at the general store. Bath house was clean but a little run down.We plan to be back, hopefully with better weather!
Aug 19, 2023 · Tom CookeTable Rock State Park, what can I say about it? We have been to several state parks across SC. and haven't found a bad one yet. But Table Rock is magical to me it has an allure to it that makes us return. To get out on the trails there or pick up the Palmetto Trail for a day hike. No words can really express. To be out there, taking in all the splendor of nature and listening to the absolute nothingness, except a few birds rejuvenates me. Table Rock is my all-time favorite State Park
