Camp Pisgah Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" with a unique twist? Located at 570 Girl Scout Rd, Brevard, NC 28712, USA, Camp Pisgah offers a distinctive experience that combines rustic cabin camping with the vibrant atmosphere of a traditional summer camp for girls. For local users seeking an outdoor adventure that goes beyond typical campground stays, Camp Pisgah presents an interesting option, particularly for families with daughters interested in a summer camp environment.
When considering "camping near me," it's important to understand the different types of experiences available. Camp Pisgah caters primarily to a summer camp program for girls, offering a structured environment with a variety of activities and a focus on group engagement. While it provides a camping-like setting with cabin accommodations, it operates more as a summer camp than a traditional campground with individual campsites for tents or RVs. This distinction is crucial for local users browsing the "camping near me" category to determine if Camp Pisgah aligns with their specific needs and expectations.
Environment and Ambiance:
Nestled in the scenic surroundings of Brevard, North Carolina, Camp Pisgah benefits from the natural beauty of the region. The environment is characterized by wooded areas and outdoor spaces suitable for various activities. The camp's setting provides an immersive outdoor experience, allowing campers to connect with nature. However, it's important to note that the ambiance is primarily that of a summer camp, focused on group activities and a communal living experience in cabins, rather than the more independent and private atmosphere often associated with traditional campgrounds.
Customer reviews offer contrasting perspectives on the ambiance. One reviewer expressed dissatisfaction, stating that the place "takes all the fun out of camping" and cited concerns about staff behavior and the condition/location of facilities. This perspective suggests that for individuals seeking a relaxed and well-serviced traditional camping experience, Camp Pisgah might not be the ideal choice.
In contrast, another reviewer shared a highly positive experience from the perspective of a family whose daughters have attended the summer camp for many years. They emphasized that Camp Pisgah is "not fancy, it's not a resort, it's summer camp -- it's camping/roughing it in cabins." This highlights the rustic nature of the accommodation and the focus on a traditional summer camp experience rather than a luxurious camping retreat. The positive reviewer praised the warm and caring counselors, the food, and the wide range of activities offered.
Services and Amenities:
The services and amenities at Camp Pisgah are geared towards supporting the summer camp program for girls. According to one review, the camp provides cabin accommodations, which are described as "roughing it in cabins," suggesting a basic and rustic style of lodging. The positive review also mentions that the camp provides food for the campers.
However, the negative review raised concerns about the cleanliness of the showers and the distance of the bathrooms from the campsites, indicating that these facilities might not meet the expectations of all visitors, particularly those accustomed to more conveniently located and well-maintained amenities at traditional campgrounds.
On the other hand, the positive review highlights a range of activities that are part of the summer camp program, including a climbing wall, archery, arts & crafts, a pool, boating, a slip & slide, and hiking. These activities are organized and supervised as part of the camp experience. The mention of "fun theme weeks, dressing up, sisterhood activities, silly songs, skits and dancing" further emphasizes the structured and engaging nature of the summer camp program.
It's also noted that "there's no electronics allowed," which is a deliberate aspect of the summer camp experience aimed at fostering social interaction and engagement in outdoor activities. This policy might be a consideration for local users who are looking for a traditional camping experience where electronic device usage is typically more flexible.
Features and Activities:
The primary feature of Camp Pisgah is its established summer camp program for girls. This program offers a structured and supervised environment with a diverse array of activities designed to promote fun, learning, and personal growth. The activities mentioned, such as the climbing wall, archery, arts & crafts, pool, boating, slip & slide, and hiking, provide campers with opportunities for physical activity, creative expression, and outdoor exploration.
The emphasis on "theme weeks, dressing up, sisterhood activities, silly songs, skits and dancing" indicates a strong focus on community building and interactive fun within the camp setting. The absence of electronics encourages campers to engage with each other and the activities around them in a more direct and immersive way.
While the positive review highlights these features as beneficial for the summer camp experience, local users seeking a more independent camping trip might find the structured nature and specific focus on a girls' summer camp less aligned with their needs. The rustic cabin accommodations, while part of the camp's charm for some, might also differ from the expectations of those looking for modern campground facilities.
The negative review points out potential drawbacks such as the condition and location of the showers and bathrooms, which could be significant factors for those prioritizing comfort and convenience in their "camping near me" experience.
Promotional Information and Why Choose Camp Pisgah:
Based on the available information, Camp Pisgah primarily promotes itself as a summer camp for girls, offering a long-standing tradition of outdoor fun, skill-building, and personal development. For local users with daughters aged 7 and up who are interested in a multi-day summer camp experience, Camp Pisgah presents a compelling option with a history of positive experiences reported by many families.
The camp emphasizes a "no electronics allowed" policy, which can be a significant benefit for parents looking to provide their daughters with a break from screens and encourage more face-to-face interaction and engagement with the natural world. The wide range of activities ensures that campers have ample opportunities to try new things, develop skills, and have fun in a supervised and supportive environment.
However, it's crucial for local users browsing "camping near me" to recognize that Camp Pisgah's primary focus is its summer camp program. While it offers a camping-like setting in cabins, it may not provide the same level of flexibility and amenities as a traditional campground catering to individual families or groups looking for short-term stays with their own camping gear (tents, RVs, etc.).
The contrasting reviews highlight the importance of understanding the specific nature of Camp Pisgah. If you are a local user specifically looking for a summer camp experience for your daughter that emphasizes outdoor activities, community building, and a break from electronics, the positive review suggests that Camp Pisgah could be a great choice. The long-term satisfaction of families who have sent their daughters to the camp for many years speaks to the positive impact it has had on their children.
However, if you are a local user seeking a traditional campground experience for yourself, your family, or a group, with the flexibility of tent or RV camping and expectations of certain amenities and a less structured environment, Camp Pisgah might not be the most suitable option based on the information provided. The concerns raised in the negative review regarding facilities and staff interaction should also be taken into consideration.

Camp Pisgah Reviews
This place takes all the fun out of camping. The employee there with the blue hair was rude, and all I ever saw her do was play on her phone. Showers were absolutely disgusting, and the bathrooms were so far away from the camp site and pretty much a hike to get to them, and with a bunch of children, that isn't ideal at all.
May 21, 2024 · nicole blanchardMy daughters have been going to Camp Pisgah for years! My oldest is in the CIT program for her 7th year and it's the 4th year for my youngest. They love it and can't wait to go back every year. They wish they could say multiple weeks in a row! It's not fancy, it's not a resort, it's summer camp -- it's camping/roughing it in cabins. The counselors have always been warm and caring towards my girls. My daughers love the food and love the activities - climbing wall, archery, arts & crafts, pool, boating, slip & slide, hiking PLUS all the fun theme weeks, dressing up, sisterhood activities, silly songs, skits and dancing! There's no electronics allowed and my girls don't even care because they have so much old school fun!
Aug 05, 2022 · Amy GallagherMy daughter loves to go to Girl Scout Camp here. Just can't get enough of it. They have five different units of cabins. Each unit has its own bathhouse. They even have a big area filled with hammocks, so that campers can sleep out under the stars. They do a wonderful wizardry based week every summer. That's my daughter's favorite.
Jul 22, 2021 · Amy BarnesI've been going to camp here every year for the past four years and it is by far the best part of my summer. The counselors are so amazing and we have so much fun. It's great for kids of all ages, plus they have an amazing CIT (Counselor In Training) program for older girls. Each year we get to swim in the pool, climb the rock wall, canoe in the lake, and have sing along around the campfire. Highly recommend!
Jul 19, 2018 · Rainy FizerMy daughter went here for weeklong camps 3 years in a row and always loved it. Now my step-daughter (12) is going her second time and cannot WAIT to be there again this summer. It's an affordable camp option where the girls have a blast and get to be away from home but safe. Highly recommend. We've only ever had good experiences here.
