The Fishing Camp & RV Park Reviews
Like everyone else has said, it is just gravel with some hook ups but it's fairly cheap and good in a pinch. My fiance and I stayed for 2 months and it wasn't too bad and even tho it's right by a train it was pretty quiet even going by. They had a laundry room that works alright but your better off going to town. The gas station is convenient being right there but the restaurant does seem to get smelly if ur staying right next to it... But u should already guess that... Not much room for parking either unless you only have a vehicle .. ur close to neighbors so try to ask ahead... The number was hard to find as well he isn't good with technology he uses a home phone and paperwork written down... Like I said it's good in a pinch. But not too awful. I made friends with a man staying here full time who is always willing to help and he keeps an eye on everything going on and made sure I knew I was safe.
Mar 04, 2025 · Hope SheaWe stayed here for one night while passing through. It's basically a gravel lot with concrete pads and hook ups behind a gas station and restaurant with what appears to be a good amount of full-timers. That's fine - we don't need anything fancy for one night stays, just a safe place to park with hookups. What bothered us was two things. First, there was a camper at the back of the park with a poor dog in a small fenced in area next to their rig that was left outside the entire time we were there, including overnight when it got cold (28°). The poor thing kept barking every time we would come outside. I felt so bad for that dog. The park's rules (upon confirmation of our reservation) state that pets should always be on a leash and attended to, which was obviously not enforced. It was heartbreaking - the dog was cold and obviously wanted some attention. The other thing we noticed was a ton of black glass on the ground outside our rig. It looked like busted camper glass, spread everywhere. It got tracked into our camper, which I hopefully got all swept out so we don't step on it. There was also no formal check in upon arrival, which was confusing. We went in the gas station and they said there was no need to check in (not a big deal, just a head's up to those considering a stay). The saving graces were the cost ($25/night) and the restaurant which, despite a nearly hour long wait (understandable - it was Friday night), was delicious. We tried boudin for the first time (the eggrolls), and they were heavenly. This park may be better for full timers who don't mind being witness to neglected animals. 🤷♀️
Feb 19, 2022 · HollieAs others have stated, this place basically a gravel parking lot with designated spots to park your RV/trailer with full hook ups.We knew this going in, and it was cheap at $35 dollars in 2024, so it was worth it as a stop with water and electricity for one night as we passed through. There is no staff working there, if you have a question, you must call the number on your reservation confirmation email. This place is run by an absentee manager, but I still feel it is safer than sleeping at a rest stop on the side of a highway. Now that you know how it is from the ground level perspective, Google map search it, zoom in for details, and find out on your own if this place is right for you.I feel I must also point out that the road bringing you here from I-20 is rather congested stop and go traffic at first, then becomes a high speed road that is a challenge to get off and onto with a larger rig.
Apr 07, 2024 · Joe IVWe stayed here 2 times for about a week each time. It's a parking lot with RV full hookups. They do have a bathroom, showers, & laundry available for guests. We didn't use them. But we looked and they were clean. The gentleman that runs it is very nice and helpful. The rate was in line with other places that we checked. The deciding factor? It was close to family. We will stay here again if we come back.
