Warrensburg Travel Park & Riverfront Campground near Lake George Introduce
For local users exploring "camping near me" options in the vicinity of Lake George, Warrensburg Travel Park & Riverfront Campground, located at 136 Schroon River Rd, Warrensburg, NY 12885, presents itself as a potential destination. Easily reachable by phone at (518) 605-9247 or mobile at +1 518-605-9247, this campground has received mixed reviews from recent visitors, indicating a need for careful consideration before booking a stay.
On the positive side, one reviewer shared an experience from late August into September, highlighting the helpfulness and friendliness of the owner, Karl. This guest mentioned that Karl went out of his way to open two tent sites despite ongoing campground expansion. The review also praised the staff's friendliness, the enjoyment of the pool and a big playground by children, and the charm of the camp store. A significant highlight for this visitor was the live band every weekend, which they described as "such a great time" and "so much fun," leading to their intention to return annually and potentially become seasonal campers.
However, a contrasting and significantly more critical review paints a different picture of Warrensburg Travel Park & Riverfront Campground. This reviewer expressed profound disappointment, particularly feeling concerned for families with children. A major complaint focused on the lack of road maintenance within the campground, making both driving and walking difficult. The presence of several apparently abandoned seasonal sites being used as dumpsters was also noted, contributing to an unkempt environment.
Further criticism detailed many campsites as appearing like "dumps" and potential "breeding grounds for rodents," described as "not clean…just dismal." The lack of road maintenance was reiterated as hindering enjoyable walks within the campground. Additionally, concerns were raised about untrimmed trees with limbs and branches posing a potential risk of damage to RVs or other equipment.
Another significant issue highlighted was an area of stagnant water identified as a "mosquito pit," suggesting a potential nuisance and health concern for campers, especially during warmer months.
The facilities also came under scrutiny, with the bathhouse described as outdated, having not been updated since its construction. Notably, the only showers were reported to be located at the office, with additional bathrooms being portapotties. The reviewer deemed this unacceptable given the amount paid for their stay.
The overall sentiment of this critical review was that the campground is "dismal" and "disgusting," leaving the reviewer feeling "taken advantage of" and relieved upon departure. This feedback strongly advises travelers to carefully consider these issues when making a campground choice.
Considering these contrasting experiences, local users searching for "camping near me" near Lake George should be aware of both the potential positives, such as a friendly owner, engaging weekend entertainment, and amenities like a pool and playground, and the significant negatives concerning the maintenance, cleanliness, and facilities of Warrensburg Travel Park & Riverfront Campground.
The positive review suggests that some aspects of the campground, particularly the social atmosphere and certain amenities, might be appealing. The owner's helpfulness and the presence of activities like live music could contribute to a fun family experience for some.
However, the detailed negative feedback raises serious concerns about the overall condition and upkeep of the campground. Issues such as poorly maintained roads, unsanitary campsites, potential pest problems from stagnant water, and inadequate or outdated bathroom facilities are significant factors that could severely impact the quality of a camping trip. The presence of abandoned sites used as dumpsters further detracts from the aesthetic and potentially the hygienic environment of the campground.
Prospective campers should weigh these points carefully. If well-maintained infrastructure and cleanliness are high priorities, the negative reviews suggest that Warrensburg Travel Park & Riverfront Campground may not meet those expectations. Conversely, if factors like a lively social scene with live music and the presence of a pool and playground are more important, and if the reported maintenance issues are deemed tolerable, it might still be considered. However, it would be prudent to contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers to inquire about the current state of the facilities, road conditions, and any recent improvements or addressed concerns mentioned in the reviews.
It is also advisable to seek more recent reviews from other sources to get a broader perspective on the current conditions at Warrensburg Travel Park & Riverfront Campground. This will help local users make a more informed decision when choosing their "camping near me" option near the popular Lake George region.

Warrensburg Travel Park & Riverfront Campground near Lake George Reviews
Karl the owner very helpful and nice to get along with. My family and cousins family stayed the end of Aug into sep, he opened up the two tent sites for us even though he didn't have to due to he is expanding the camp ground. Staff is so friendly our kids love the pool big play ground the camp store is cute inside. The live bang every weekend is such a great time so much fun. Will definitely be going every year and hopefully one year be a seasonal camper..
Sep 30, 2024 · Charleen RogersThis campground is huge disappointment, I especially feel bad for families bringing their children for a vacation. The roads are not maintained, making driving difficult much less walking around the campground. There are several seasonal sites that appear abandoned and being used as a dumpster. Many campsites are just dumps that look like breeding grounds for rodents, and not clean…just dismal. The roads are not even maintained to be able to enjoy a walk in the campground. The trees are not trimmed and limbs and branches can easily damage your rig. There is an area of stagnant water that is a mosquito pit.The bathhouse has not been updated since it was built…only showers are at the office . The additional bathrooms are portapotties. This is not acceptable for the amount we paid. This review is accurate , I hope it acts as a help to travelers making a campground choice. It is a dismal , disgusting park. We felt taken advantage of and were thankful when we left.
Sep 21, 2024 · Rosa GriffithA beautiful weekend/ end to the summer in the woods! It wasn’t our first time at Warrensburg campground/travel park and it won’t be our last. We’ve been frequenting this campground when in the Lake George area for years. It’s nearby all of the attractions and not far from town at all. The owners are friendly and accommodating. This location has tons of playground equipment for kids, a pool in the summertime, and a beach sanded area right on the Schroon river to swim in. I must say the mosquitos were intense this year around perhaps because of the time of year so bring bug spray and pants.
Sep 18, 2024 · Amanda MarieEverything is perfect there for camping and relaxing, plus it's near Lake George! Staff and grounds are incredible, excellent camp sites. I can't wait for the 2025 season!
Jan 18, 2025 · Juliet NovakI really enjoyed my stay and fortunately I got a corner campsite so I had a bit more privacy than others may have. Very friendly staff and a really enjoyable swimming pool was a bonus.
