Schroon River Campsites Inc Introduce
For local users exploring "camping near me" options in the Warrensburg, NY area, Schroon River Campsites Inc, located at 686 Schroon River Rd, Warrensburg, NY 12885, presents a location with potential, according to its address and proximity to the Schroon River. You can contact them at (518) 623-2171 or +1 518-623-2171. However, recent customer reviews paint a concerning picture regarding the current state of the campground's management and maintenance, which local campers should carefully consider.
Based on the provided reviews, the environment surrounding Schroon River Campsites Inc seemingly holds natural appeal, particularly for those who secured riverside sites. The potential for a beautiful setting along the Schroon River is mentioned. However, the actual condition of the campsites appears to detract significantly from this natural allure. Multiple reviewers describe "overgrown sites" with "weeds up to your knees" in both common and transient areas. One camper even reported losing their first setup day due to the necessity of mowing their assigned site. Additionally, the presence of a significant mosquito population is highlighted, with a strong recommendation to "layer up and bring tons of bug spray." While the natural location along the river could be a draw for those seeking "camping near me" with waterfront access, the current state of upkeep seems to be a major issue.
The services at Schroon River Campsites Inc, as described by recent visitors, appear to be inconsistent and unreliable. Communication seems to be a significant challenge, with reports of unanswered phone messages and emails. Facebook messenger was cited as the only effective method of contact. There were issues with reservations, including a complete lack of record of a booking upon arrival and being moved from a reserved riverside site without adequate explanation. While the bathroom was noted to be "very clean," there was reportedly "zero hot water to wash your hands." The pool was also clean, though not used by the reviewer. The availability of other services, such as the game room and camp store, appears limited, with irregular hours making it difficult to access them. Campers reported having to find alternative locations to purchase essential items like firewood and ice, indicating that the camp store cannot be relied upon for these necessities. For local users searching "camping near me" and expecting basic campground services, the reviews suggest that Schroon River Campsites Inc currently falls short in several key areas.
The features of Schroon River Campsites Inc, based on its location, should ideally include access to the Schroon River, potentially offering opportunities for fishing or other water-related activities. The presence of a pool is mentioned as an amenity. However, the negative reviews overshadow these potential features. The "overgrown sites" and the difficulty in obtaining basic necessities like firewood and ice detract from the overall experience. The unreliability of communication and the issues with site assignments further diminish the appeal. One reviewer expressed that the campground "has so much potential but appears to be unkempt on purpose," suggesting a significant disconnect between the inherent natural beauty of the location and the current management and maintenance practices. Another reviewer explicitly stated feeling "treated differently because of my race" when being moved from their reserved riverside site without a clear explanation and the manager's dismissive behavior. This is a serious concern that local users considering this campground should be aware of. While the location might offer proximity for those searching "camping near me," the reported negative experiences significantly impact the perceived features and overall value of Schroon River Campsites Inc.
Currently, there is no information provided regarding any promotional offers for Schroon River Campsites Inc. Given the recent negative reviews highlighting issues with communication, site conditions, and management, it is unclear if the campground is actively trying to attract new customers with special deals. Local users searching within the "camping near me" category are advised to directly contact the campground via the provided phone numbers or attempt to reach them through Facebook messenger to inquire about any potential promotions. However, based on the available feedback, it would be prudent to exercise caution and thoroughly assess whether any potential discounts outweigh the reported negative experiences.
In conclusion, while Schroon River Campsites Inc in Warrensburg, NY, benefits from its location near the Schroon River, recent customer reviews raise significant concerns for local users seeking "camping near me." The reported issues include poor communication, overgrown and unmaintained campsites, inconsistent services (lack of hot water, unreliable store and game room hours), and concerning management practices, including allegations of racial bias in site assignments. While the natural setting might hold promise, the current state of the campground appears to be a major drawback. Potential campers are strongly advised to weigh these negative experiences heavily when considering Schroon River Campsites Inc for their local camping needs and perhaps seek more recent feedback from other sources before making a reservation. The potential for a beautiful riverside camping experience seems to be currently overshadowed by significant shortcomings in management and maintenance.

Schroon River Campsites Inc Reviews
Be prepared. This was our first, and last stay. On the morning of our trip, I called and left messages regarding correct directions to their place. Answering machine(common pattern), no return call. I emailed with no response. About an hour out, I used Facebook messenger...it worked! They had zero record of our trip and they insisted we had wrong campground. I had to send a screenshot of our confirmation email. We were shocked when we pulled into our overgrown sites. The common sites along with the transient sites have weeds up to your knees. We actually lost our first set up day because our sites needed to be mowed. It was apparent they were not expecting us (after complaining they did send someone the next morning to mow). The mosquitoes are horrible!! Make sure to layer up and bring tons of bug spray!!! It's very hard to get anyone on the phone and our only saving grace was was FB messenger throughout our stay. The bathroom was very clean(zero hot water to wash your hands) along with the pool (we did not use showers so no review of them). Don't expect to use gameroom much or purchase items from campstore, they do not hold regular hours(we had to find places to buy wood and ice). Very hit or miss. This campground has so much potential but appears to be unkempt on purpose. Like they are going out of their way to devalue the land (this review will help them if that is indeed the case). It's really sad, it was probably a beautiful place once and has the potential to be a beautiful place again, if the owners cared.
Jul 12, 2022 · Joella HendersonHad reservation on the river side. Once I got there, I was moved to the entrance. (Without any explanation) what they told me was that someone was there already. In the morning those campers left leaving the site open again. I went back to the officer and they told me someone was going to that site. I spoke to the manager Madison she was useless.cause all she kept doing was rolling her eyes and sucking her teeth as I explained to her the situation. She didn't do anything about it and all she kept saying was that site wasn't available.. I camp all the time and this place really made me feel like I was being treated differently because of my race.. (Phyllis and May were very friendly and they try their best but unfortunately management needs to improve)
Sep 03, 2022 · Neida “nay” C.We stayed for 4 nights in the middle of July. We could not really stay outside cause there were too much mosquitos. The pool and the site in the open field were nice. Too bad we could not really enjoy because of the mosquito problem.I did not like the pine areas. To dark and road were too narrow for my truck/travel trailer. The camping needs maintenance work. Will not return.
Aug 03, 2017 · Jonathan LarocheStayed for the first time 4th of July weekend. The staff were very nice/friendly. The site was flat and grassy. Pet friendly. Bathrooms could use a little update. Showers had plenty of room with the attached changing area. Pool was big and had a new liner, very nice.Just reserved same site for labor day weekend.
Aug 18, 2016 · David RohrmillerSome really nice people run this campground, they were honest and fair. The campground was clean and open. Like most campgrounds in the area, it was like grassy parking lot with tents, cabins and RVs lining the perimeter. We prefer more rustic campgrounds with wooded, secluded sites. Be aware, the bathrooms and showers behind the main office could use some updating. The sinks in the shower house may not have worked, I say may not because the whole time I was there they were so dirty and filled with hair, bugs and other debris I wouldn't get close enough to try. It's good if you're staying in a rental with a private bathroom and okay as a last resort for a couple of nights.
