Schroon River Escape Lodging & Campground Reviews
Great place. Stayed for a long weekend spread out over 3 sites with friends. Sites are a good size and had plenty of space for trucks and tents, picnic table, and firepit with cooking grate, water and electric. Very quiet in the fall. Peaceful. Husband enjoyed fishing and 12yo daughter enjoyed walking around and looking for animal tracks at the river. Bathrooms are brand new and amazingly clean. Camp manager Harry was extremely helpful with everything from firewood to getting live bait locally and directing us to the closest stores for anything we needed to grab. Too cold to swim but pool looked so nice and clean, kids were able to go in the river one very hot day, sandy beaches made it a.very comfortable swim. Common room had fun games and books and a big TV. Daughter to old for playground but the 4 year old in our party loved it.Definitely will return.
Sep 29, 2024 · kristina ricardWe thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend at this quaint "escape". The grounds were beautifully maintained. The bathrooms were the cleanest I've ever seen (nicely updated fixtures, not a trace of dirt could even be seen on the floors, the soap smelled amazing and the air freshner wasn't too pungent like it was trying to mask "other smells").The property manager, Harry, and other groundskeepers, were so attentive and friendly; checked on us periodically, always asking if we needed anything. We stayed on a "lower" site. It was spacious, shaded perfectly, easy access to water and electricity, and the view and beach/river access is a bonus. Even in late September, we were able to enjoy the soft, warm sand, and the cool, refreshing, clear water. The playground/play areas were a hit for my 4 yr old. Again, the cleanliness and upkeep of those structures were a pleasant surprise.I'm certain we'll be back!
Sep 30, 2024 · Kelly AlgerBeautiful campground. Bathhouse was cleanest I have ever seen in a campground. Very large pool. Sites are very spacious. The manager, Harry is very friendly and always available. He also made recommendations for best local eatery. This was our first time camping here and we will certainly be back! Beautiful area with beach access to the river. Great management.
Sep 15, 2024 · Becky LittlefieldOur 2nd stay and it was wonderful. The beach is clean and small but just enough to have an enjoyable day. We had fun trying to fish although we only caught one fish it was a great time. The staff is friendly and helpful. Restrooms and grounds are very clean and well maintained. The kids really enjoyed playing hide n seek and just enjoying being outside. I have no complaints only that the horse flies are awful but that's not their fault. Bring some good bug spray! Peaceful quiet and just a nice experience.
Aug 25, 2024 · Jillian Hobson**NEW OWNERS**Our recent stay at this campground was nothing short of exceptional. The new owners have poured their hearts into restoring the place and are dedicated to creating a warm and enjoyable camping experience. Harry, the manager, is lovely he's friendly and always ready to assist with a smile. From the moment we arrived, friendly staff made check in a breeze. The campsite itself was a haven of tranquility immaculate grounds, well maintained, and nestled in the scenic Adirondacks. The spacious sites offered a perfect balance of privacy and comfort, allowing us to relax and unwind in our own space on the river. All the amenities were clean and modern, with a well stocked camp store and a pavilion with plenty of activities. We especially enjoyed the river. It was really relaxing and sandy making it easy to walk in. If you’re looking for a campground that combines the charm of the outdoors, is close to lake George and many attractions, and has friendly campers/staff, this is the place!! We’ll definitely be returning and can’t wait to see what else the new owners have in store!!!!
