The Lost Oaks Campground Introduce
For local residents in Michigan and travelers passing through who are searching for "camping near me" in a welcoming and well-maintained environment, The Lost Oaks Campground, located at 7380 N Clare Ave, Harrison, MI 48625, offers a compelling option. Based on the available customer reviews, this small, family-owned campground is highly regarded for its cleanliness, quiet atmosphere, and friendly owners, making it an attractive destination for both short stays and longer getaways. While some highway noise is mentioned, the overall impression is one of a secluded and pleasant camping experience.
The environment of The Lost Oaks Campground appears to strike a balance between accessibility and tranquility. Situated near Harrison, Michigan, it likely benefits from the natural beauty of the region, which is characterized by forests, lakes, and a generally peaceful rural setting. While one reviewer noted some highway noise, they also emphasized that the campground still felt secluded, suggesting that the layout or natural barriers help to mitigate the sound. This combination of convenience and a sense of escape can be particularly appealing to those looking for a quick and easy "camping near me" option without sacrificing a relaxing atmosphere. The presence of mature oaks, implied by the campground's name, likely contributes to a shaded and pleasant camping environment.
In terms of services and features, The Lost Oaks Campground seems to prioritize the comfort and convenience of its guests. One reviewer mentioned the availability of electrical hookups at the campsite, a significant amenity for RV campers and those who rely on electricity for lighting or other devices. The presence of a dump station with a water fill is also noted, which is essential for RV maintenance and ensures that travelers can manage their waste and replenish their water supply conveniently. These basic but crucial amenities cater to the needs of both short-term and long-term campers.
A standout feature consistently praised in the reviews is the quality of the bathrooms and showers. One reviewer who stayed during colder weather noted that the showers were nice but implied they might be best enjoyed when it's warmer outside. In contrast, another reviewer who stayed during a different time specifically described the showers as "amazing." This suggests that the campground provides well-maintained shower facilities, which can be a significant factor in the overall camping experience, especially for those who prefer more comfort than primitive camping offers. The discrepancy in temperature perception might be due to seasonal variations or individual preferences, but the positive remarks about cleanliness and quality are consistent.
The fact that The Lost Oaks Campground is described as a "small family owned campground" often translates to a more personal and attentive level of service. One reviewer specifically praised the owners as being "amazing" and easy to get along with. This personal touch can create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere that larger, more impersonal campgrounds might lack. The positive interactions with the owners likely contribute significantly to the positive overall experience reported by guests.
The review from the travelers who stayed at The Lost Oaks Campground both on their way to and from the Upper Peninsula speaks volumes about the positive impression it made. Their decision to return on their way back home highlights the comfort, cleanliness, and overall appeal of the campground. The fact that they found it "quiet" further reinforces the idea of a peaceful retreat, despite the mention of some highway noise by another reviewer. This suggests that the level of noise may vary depending on the campsite location within the campground or the time of day, but the overall ambiance is conducive to relaxation.
While the reviews provide valuable insights into the positive aspects of The Lost Oaks Campground, they do not offer specific details about the number or types of campsites available (e.g., RV full hookup, water and electric only, tent-only), the presence of other amenities such as Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, or recreational areas (e.g., playground, hiking trails). Local users interested in "camping near me" at this location might want to contact the campground directly at (989) 545-1833 or +1 989-545-1833 to inquire about these details and to make reservations. Checking online camping directories or review sites beyond what was provided might also offer additional information and photos of the campground.
Given the overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding cleanliness, the quality of the showers, the friendly owners, and the quiet atmosphere (despite some highway proximity), The Lost Oaks Campground appears to be a highly recommended option for those seeking "camping near me" in the Harrison, Michigan area. Its small, family-owned nature suggests a personal touch and a commitment to guest satisfaction. The Lost Oaks Campground Reviews
Nice campground. Some highway noise but still secluded. Water fill at the dump station. Bathrooms were nice but it better be warm out if you want a shower. Elect at the site.
Oct 10, 2024 · mike isaacsWe stayed at this campground on the way to the UP. We loved it so much we stayed again on our way back home. This is a small family owned campground. It was quiet and extremely clean and the showers were amazing as well as the owners. Looking forward to going back again.
Aug 03, 2024 · Keely StarenchakWe came for a weekend and havent left that was a year ago. This is an amazing family ran campground clean bathrooms and the best showers ever I love them especially after a long day on the trails. They have a fun animal area games you name it. The owners are super helpful and if they dont have the info they find it for you. We love it and look forward to all our nights here 100% our fav spot Today after making sure we were safe during a tornado the owner even dropped me my fav drink. Best place ever
Jul 06, 2024 · Audrey McleanI Have no complaints. This is our 2nd year staying, and the owners are constantly updating. The new bathrooms are great and much appreciated since my husband hates cleaning our camper bathroom tanks lol. We love how personable and present the owners are. Riding right to the trails is a huge bonus! Selfishly, I'd prefer this place be our secret, so we always have a spot, but truly, this is a great place and is highly recommended.
Jun 25, 2024 · Tanya GrahamHot Showers! I repeat, hot showers! Cleanest Port-a-pots I've ever seen. Well groomed play area and spacious sites. The large wood was too much for us for two nights and three fires, small should be fine. Fire pits are on the smaller side (one log for scale in the picture), but worked just fine. Owners are just wonderful, delivered our wood and were flexible with site assignment. Quiet place and other campers were very respectful. Easy drive to Higgins Lake or Clare. Good atmosphere over all. I will definitely be coming back.
