Thousand Trails Lake & Shore Introduce
For local users in search of "camping near me" in the Ocean View, New Jersey area, Thousand Trails Lake & Shore, situated at 515 Corsons Tavern Rd, Ocean View, NJ 08230, USA, is an option to consider. They can be contacted at (609) 624-1494 or +1 609-624-1494 for inquiries. While the location boasts appealing natural features, recent customer reviews highlight significant concerns regarding customer service and the reservation process, which potential visitors should be aware of.
One reviewer described the location itself as "nice," noting the beauty of the pool, lake, and campground. This suggests that the natural environment of Thousand Trails Lake & Shore could be a significant draw for those seeking a picturesque camping experience. The presence of a lake implies potential opportunities for water-based activities such as swimming, fishing, or boating, although specific details about lake access and amenities are not provided in the reviews. Similarly, the mention of a pool indicates a recreational amenity that could be attractive, especially for families during warmer months.
However, despite the apparent beauty of the physical setting, the same reviewer expressed strong dissatisfaction with the customer service, labeling it as "absolutely outrageous." They described a frustrating experience of being passed between different points of contact without resolution. This lack of efficient and helpful service is a significant concern for potential campers, as smooth communication and support are crucial for a positive camping experience, especially when dealing with reservations or addressing any issues that may arise during a stay.
Furthermore, this review touches upon the membership model of Thousand Trails, stating that it is "extremely expensive," costing between $8,000 and $9,000 per year. For such a significant financial commitment, the reviewer expressed an expectation of much higher service standards, particularly concerning the seemingly simple task of making a cabin reservation. The difficulty encountered in this process is further detailed, with the online system consistently showing dates as "grayed out," followed by contradictory instructions to book online when contacting customer service by phone. This cycle of inefficiency and misinformation is a serious drawback for members seeking to utilize the campground's facilities.
Another recent review recounts a problematic start to a camping trip. Upon arrival for their first trip of the season, the reviewer and their party were placed in a "maintenance storage lot." Adding to the inconvenience, the office was closed when they attempted to notify staff about the unsuitable placement. Even maintenance personnel reportedly had difficulty contacting the office. While the reservations department was eventually able to relocate them to a more desirable spot, the initial experience was clearly negative and indicative of potential communication and organizational issues within the campground management.
The situation was further compounded when this reviewer was informed that they would have to move back to the initially assigned maintenance lot after only one week, despite the lot having been cleared of hazards such as a "broken bucket loader, trailers, timber, wood pallets, etc." This abrupt and inconvenient requirement to relocate after settling into a preferred spot led the reviewer to decide to leave the campground altogether and seek an alternative location. They did mention a tentative plan to return in a few weeks to assess if a better location would be offered, highlighting an ongoing uncertainty and a less-than-ideal first impression for the season.
Considering these recent experiences, local users searching for "camping near me" at Thousand Trails Lake & Shore should be prepared for potential challenges related to customer service, the reservation process (especially for members), and possible inconsistencies in site assignments and communication. While the natural environment with a lake and pool appears to be attractive, these positive aspects may be overshadowed by the reported difficulties in interacting with the campground management and ensuring a smooth and hassle-free stay.
As the provided information does not include details about specific services and features beyond the pool and lake, potential visitors will need to conduct further research to understand the full range of amenities offered at Thousand Trails Lake & Shore. Typically, campgrounds offer various types of campsites (RV sites, tent sites, cabin rentals), restroom and shower facilities, water and electrical hookups, waste disposal, and possibly recreational areas, laundry facilities, and a camp store. However, the recent reviews do not provide insights into the quality or availability of these standard campground services at this particular location.
Similarly, no promotional information is available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in potential discounts, seasonal offers, or membership benefits would need to contact Thousand Trails Lake & Shore directly or visit their official website for such details. However, given the concerns raised about the value of the membership based on the service experienced, potential members should carefully weigh the costs against the reported service quality and reservation difficulties.
In conclusion, while Thousand Trails Lake & Shore in Ocean View, NJ, may offer a visually appealing environment with a lake and pool, recent customer feedback strongly suggests significant shortcomings in customer service and operational efficiency. Local users searching for "camping near me" should be aware of these potential issues and consider them carefully when making their decision. It would be prudent to seek more recent reviews and potentially contact the campground directly to inquire about current service standards and reservation procedures before committing to a stay or a membership. Exploring alternative campgrounds in the Ocean View area might also be a wise step to ensure a more positive and stress-free camping experience.

Thousand Trails Lake & Shore Reviews
The place is nice. Pool, lake and campground is beautiful but honestly the customer service is absolutely outrageous. One place just pushes you to the next over and over again. Being a member is extremely expensive $8,000 to $9,000 a year. I would expect to have better service for a simple cabin reservation. It's impossible to do it online ( dates are always grayed out) then when you call they say you have to go online and the cycle just gos downhill from there. Beautiful place but I would give my hard earned money to a place with better service for members.
Apr 01, 2025 · Jary DiazFirst trip this season put us in maintenance storage lot. Office was closed when I tried to notify them. Maintenance men even had trouble getting in touch with them. Fortunately reservations was able to move us into a great spot, which we loved, but then we were told that after one week, we would have to move to that first lot, which maintenance had cleared of broken bucket loader, trailers, timber, wood pallets, etc. We decided to go elsewhere. We will go back in a few weeks and see if we are given a better location. Stay posted...
May 01, 2025 · Eileen BallardI’m so very furious. We’re here now in the guest parking lot. I called yesterday morning about a late check in. I expressed that I did online check in and received an email to follow up if I didn’t get my assigned spot and key code. They expressed they’re not doing online check in. They said when we get there, there would be a number to call and security would let us in. We called security and the ranger multiple times no answer. That’s the number for “emergencies” so why isn’t anyone answering. We left a voicemail. Multiple voicemails & still no call back and no answer. Another party arrived and expressed they called earlier as well and they told them press the button and Someone would answer. We pressed that button multiple times. No answer. We’re stranded in the welcome center and my husband had to leave for work at 7am. It’s 512am and still no answer. We can’t wait til 9am when the welcome center opens and the trailer is hooked up to his truck. We drove 1.5 hours to just sit in the parking lot and have none of our calls answered. This is unacceptable ESPECIALLY since I called ahead to make sure we didn’t run into this very issue. We have two small children as well and we have no hook ups. If the policy is to send and email with the code and assigned spots then that needs to be followed because this method doesn’t work if they have people like security not answering the phone or doing their job.
Apr 05, 2025 · Keanna DalyI drive about 3 hours from PA to Lake and Shore campground. My family has been going here since my grandparents were young. It is always a great experience. I ran into some trouble booking through thousand trails. When I got to the campground, the office was closed and Sammie and Tabitha came in late to try and help me out. It took a while, but everything worked out. I am so grateful for these ladies and especially Tabitha and Cindy for not giving up and making sure everything was figured out for me to have a great vacation.
Oct 23, 2024 · Susan GnozaCabin smells musty, all kitchenware had to be washed before use, and the staff was not friendly or welcoming. Check in not till 4pm and they wouldnt budge to let me check in early, when i went to office at 4pm on the dot, they were visibly upset and rudely announced they were about to close. Seasonal members start trouble, and the staff allows it to happen. Complaints made to this location directly and to TT went ignored.
