Meadow Creek Campground Introduce
For local adventurers and nature enthusiasts seeking a tranquil "camping near me" experience, Meadow Creek Campground, situated near Grangeville, ID 83530, USA, offers a charming and picturesque escape. This small campground, nestled in a gorgeous little meadow, provides a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the stunning scenery of Idaho and enjoy the peaceful sounds of a nearby creek. While intimate in size, Meadow Creek Campground boasts features that make it a delightful destination for tent campers and those with small campers or pop-up tents.
The environment of Meadow Creek Campground is a key highlight, consistently praised by visitors as "gorgeous." The campground is located in a small meadow, offering a sense of seclusion and natural beauty. The presence of a creek further enhances the ambiance, providing a soothing soundtrack to your camping experience. The creek has even been restructured to facilitate easy salmon passage, showcasing the area's commitment to preserving its natural ecosystem. While one reviewer noted limited success fishing in the South Fork of the Clearwater River across the highway, they did mention catching a few fingerling rainbows in the creek itself, suggesting potential for some fishing opportunities within close proximity to your campsite.
Meadow Creek Campground caters primarily to tent camping, with reviewers specifically mentioning two designated spots for tents. Additionally, there appears to be a small pad suitable for a small camper or pop-up tent, offering some flexibility in accommodation types. It is important to note that the campground does not offer any hookups for water, electricity, or sewer, emphasizing its rustic and natural camping experience. Campers should come prepared for dry camping and bring all necessary supplies.
In terms of amenities, Meadow Creek Campground provides basic but essential facilities for a comfortable stay. Each of the tent camping spots is equipped with fire pits and a picnic table, allowing for enjoyable outdoor cooking and dining experiences. The availability of fire pits is perfect for evening campfires, providing warmth and a cozy atmosphere under the stars. A small outhouse or toilet facility is also available on-site, offering a basic restroom option for campers. However, it is crucial to note that there is no running water available at the campground, and there are no trash cans provided. Therefore, in line with responsible camping practices, Meadow Creek Campground operates on a "pack it in, pack it out" system, requiring visitors to take all their trash with them upon departure.
One of the unique features of Meadow Creek Campground, as mentioned by a visitor, is the presence of shallow ponds near the creek, which are described as really fun places for kids to splash in. This makes the campground particularly appealing to families with young children, offering a safe and enjoyable water play area. While the South Fork of the Clearwater River is noted to be cold, especially at night, the shallow ponds provide a warmer alternative for daytime fun.
The overall atmosphere of Meadow Creek Campground is one of a "tiny paradise," as described by one enthusiastic camper. Its small size contributes to a sense of intimacy and tranquility, allowing for a peaceful retreat away from larger, more crowded campgrounds. The stunning scenery, the gentle flow of the creek, and the surrounding natural beauty create a truly memorable camping experience for those seeking a connection with nature.
Given the limited information available, there is no specific promotional information to share about Meadow Creek Campground. However, its inherent appeal lies in its natural beauty, creek-side setting, and family-friendly features like the shallow ponds. For local users searching for "camping near me" who prioritize scenic beauty, a peaceful environment, and opportunities for creek-side relaxation and some fishing, Meadow Creek Campground is a compelling option. Its small size suggests a more secluded and personal camping experience compared to larger campgrounds.
To make the most of your visit to Meadow Creek Campground, it is essential to be well-prepared for a rustic camping experience. Bring your own water for drinking, cooking, and washing. Pack appropriate camping gear, including shelter, sleeping arrangements, cooking equipment, and layers of clothing to accommodate varying temperatures. Since there are no trash cans, ensure you have ample bags to collect all your waste and a plan for its proper disposal off-site. If you plan to fish, remember to bring your fishing gear and check local regulations for licenses and any restrictions.
The location near Grangeville provides some accessibility to local amenities if needed, but the campground itself is designed for a more self-sufficient camping experience. The focus is on enjoying the natural environment and the peacefulness of the meadow and creek setting. The absence of hookups and trash service reinforces the need for campers to be responsible and prepared.
In conclusion, for local residents seeking a "camping near me" destination that offers stunning scenery, the soothing presence of a creek, and a family-friendly atmosphere with shallow ponds for children, Meadow Creek Campground near Grangeville, Idaho, is a hidden gem. Its small size and rustic amenities contribute to its charm and appeal for those looking to escape into nature's beauty. Remember to come prepared for a pack-it-in, pack-it-out experience and be ready to enjoy the tranquility of this tiny paradise.

Meadow Creek Campground Reviews
Gorgeous little meadow, small but the scenery is stunning! Looked like there was a small pad for a small camper/pop-up tent. No hookups. Two spots for tent camping, there are fire pits and a picnic table near the creek. There is a small outhouse/toilet. I absolutely love this spot! Tiny paradise!
Jul 04, 2022 · liz northrupGorgeous campground next to a creek restructured for easy salmon passage. We didn't catch any fish in the South Fork of the Clearwater River across the highway, but got a few bites form fingerling rainbows in the stream. There is a restroom, but there's no running water, and no trashcan. It's a really fun place with shallow ponds for kids to splash in. The river's cold, but your feet get used to in the daytime, but it's too cold at night.
Jun 05, 2019 · Hamilton CarterExcellent campground right next to the creek. No fee, and therefore no services like water. There is a pit toilet, picnic tables and fire rings. Only 3 campsites in this beautiful campground, so get there early.
