Castle Creek Campground Introduce
For local users in the "camping near me" category looking for a scenic and recreation-oriented getaway, Castle Creek Campground, located in Grangeville, ID 83530, USA, offers a compelling option based on recent customer reviews. This campground appears to be particularly attractive for its natural beauty and access to water activities.
One reviewer who visited with their wife found the location "beautiful" with "stunning" scenery. They noted that arriving on a Tuesday made it "very quiet," suggesting that weekdays might offer a more peaceful experience. For pet owners, this campground seems welcoming, as their dogs "ran around the water for hours" and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The reviewer also mentioned that the camp was "very clean" and recommended it for a "weekend getaway trip." This paints a picture of a well-maintained and aesthetically pleasing campground suitable for relaxation and enjoying the outdoors with pets.
Another visitor also described the campground as "beautiful." However, they pointed out a significant drawback: the presence of a "busy loud highway next door," which detracted from what could have been a "perfect" experience. Despite this noise issue, they highlighted the appeal of their campsite, spot #6, which they considered "the best spot." A notable feature mentioned was that "most spots have private beach," indicating excellent access to the water for many campers. Fishing enthusiasts would be pleased to know that they "caught lots of trout on spoons and super duper lures," although only two were of "edible sizes" during their August 2022 visit. The clear, shallow water, with a deepest area around 4 feet, was also a hit with children. At the time of their visit, the nightly fee was "$12 per night," and "potable water" was available within the campground.
This second review also brought up some less positive aspects. They mentioned "lots of harassment from folks coming in and wanting our site as we moved towards the weekend," suggesting that the campground becomes busier and potentially more competitive for sites as the weekend approaches. Additionally, they observed that "at least half of the available sites were occupied by 'cheaters' = folks dropping off camper and leaving when the rules clearly stated that you have to occupy the spot the first night as it is first come based." This indicates potential issues with adherence to campground rules and the fairness of site allocation.
Combining these reviews, Castle Creek Campground offers the following environment, services, and features for those looking for "camping near me":
- Stunning natural scenery.
- Waterfront campsites, with many offering private beach access.
- Opportunities for fishing, with trout present in the water.
- Clear, shallow water suitable for children to play in.
- Potable water available.
- A pet-friendly environment.
- A clean campground.
- A nightly fee of $12 (as of August 2022).
However, potential visitors should also be aware of:
- Noise from a busy loud highway located next to the campground.
- Potential for increased crowding and competition for sites towards the weekend.
- Reported issues with some individuals not following the first-come, first-served rules.
For local users in the Grangeville area seeking a campground with beautiful scenery and water access, Castle Creek Campground presents an attractive option. The availability of potable water is a significant convenience, and the private beach areas at many campsites are a definite plus for those wanting to enjoy the water directly from their site. Fishing enthusiasts will appreciate the opportunity to catch trout.
However, the noise from the nearby highway is a factor to consider for those prioritizing a completely tranquil environment. If you are sensitive to traffic noise, this might impact your overall experience. The potential for crowding on weekends and the reported issues with site occupancy rules also suggest that arriving earlier in the week might lead to a more relaxed and fair experience.
In the context of "camping near me," Castle Creek Campground offers a blend of natural beauty and recreational opportunities, particularly for families and pet owners. The $12 nightly fee (as of the review in August 2022) also suggests it's a relatively affordable option. Local residents who don't mind some highway noise and who appreciate direct water access for swimming, fishing, and pet activities might find this campground to be a great choice.
To make the most of a visit to Castle Creek Campground, local users might consider arriving on a weekday to avoid potential weekend crowds and to secure a preferred site, such as spot #6, which was highlighted as excellent. Bringing earplugs might be advisable for those concerned about highway noise. If fishing is a primary interest, being prepared with spoons and super duper lures might increase your chances of a catch.
Overall, Castle Creek Campground appears to be a scenic and enjoyable destination for "camping near me," especially for those who value waterfront access and are prepared for some highway noise and potential weekend busyness. Its beauty and recreational opportunities make it a worthwhile consideration for your next local camping adventure.

Castle Creek Campground Reviews
My wife and I decided to we wanted to go somewhere new this year and this place was beautiful. The scenery was stunning. We came on a Tuesday so it was very quiet. Our dogs ran around the water for hours as had had walked for a while and they were exhausted from how much fun they had. (Which is not an easy task to wear out our dogs.) The camp was very clean. Definitely recommend for a weekend getaway trip.
Aug 30, 2024 · Justice ReynaWas beautiful. If not for the busy loud highway next door, would have been perfect. We had spot 6 which is the best spot in my opinion. Most spots have private beach. We caught lots of trout on spoons and super duper lures. Only 2 were edible sizes though. Kids had a great time in the clear shallow water. Deepest area is around 4 ft. When we were there in Aug 2022. We paid $12 per night. Potable water available in Campground. Lots of harassment from folks coming in and wanting our site as we moved towards the weekend. Also at least half of the available sites were occupied by "cheaters " = folks dropping off camper and leaving when the rules clearly stated that you have to occupy the spot the first night as it is first come based.

This is a national forest camp site, all sites are first come first serve. $12/night. You have a well maintained out house, no shower, good clean running water threw out the camp sites. When I came here there was no host.
Sep 01, 2018 · RobertWhat a beautiful place to camp. It's right on the river. They have toilet's no shower. We stayed in RV so it wasn't an issue. They have fresh water close to campsites. Picnic tables and firepit at each campsite. Only $12.00 per night. We stayed a week...wish we could of stayed longer.
