I am a member here and wanted to share some pros and cons of this experience, particularly the pacific city campground. Most of my issues are with the corporate structure company and horrible guests. I have not had issue with the individuals working here and they are all really helpful.Pros:-mostly private campsites-water and electricity readily available (less -sewer sites and they aren’t as nice)-24 hour bathrooms-laundry (only open for 6 hours in winter)-hot tub (only open for 6 hours in winter)-dump on site-great spot for pets-excellent landscaping /trailsDepending on the plan you get you can camp for various amounts of time (1-3 weeks) before you have to spend a week away. We live full time in an RV and the privacy and location are really beautiful. The people who work here are really great and also live on site. This is a super affordable option.Cons:-sites not flat (real hard without auto leveling)-when there is an issue there is not a clear structure of hierarchy to complain and follow up (laundry and hot hot both broken once for a week)-Getting member services online is challenging (their website is not well organized and doesn’t have good menus) and when you call you sometimes get a call back. We have also just gotten a dead end line with no way to leave a message. We have had to call numerous times usually to get someone to help.My main issue: SAFETYTo complain about safety issues or concerns there is no clear place to do it. The online complaint form won’t submit from either of my computers or my phone and gives a redirection error. There is no place in person to submit complaints. Most of my complaints have been about other guests, not about the services or staff. I wish there was a way to easily resolve disputes.Side note: campers here this week tried to attack someone in a bathroom because they perceived them as using the wrong bathroom. There was no action taken from thousand trails. I tried to call, post a complaint form and talked to the ranger. I would caution anyone with expressive gender to be alert. There are no family or gender neutral bathrooms available FYI. There is also no conflict resolution without police as no one is available after 6 pm to help you until 10 am the next day. I personally have never had an experience like that in Oregon. These were out of state visitors, so police wouldn’t really be helpful. - Jamie Dinsmoor

Based on feedback from fellow campers, Thousand Trails Pacific City presents a compelling option for those seeking a blend of natural beauty and essential conveniences. Many users, particularly members, have highlighted the positive aspects of this location, making it a noteworthy consideration within the "camping near me" category.

Environment and Location:

Thousand Trails Pacific City boasts a truly beautiful location. Situated in Cloverdale, Oregon, it offers easy access to the scenic Oregon coast. The landscaping within the campground is described as excellent, and there are well-maintained trails for leisurely strolls and exploring the natural surroundings. The overall ambiance is one of tranquility and immersion in nature, making it an appealing destination for those wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. The privacy afforded by most campsites is a significant draw, allowing campers to feel secluded and enjoy their own space.

Services and Amenities:

For those looking at "camping near me" with essential services, Thousand Trails Pacific City delivers on several fronts:

  • Campsites: The majority of the campsites are described as mostly private, offering a sense of seclusion. Water and electricity hookups are readily available at most sites, adding to the convenience for RV campers and others needing these utilities. It's worth noting that sewer sites are available but may not be as favorably located according to some feedback.
  • Restrooms: The campground provides 24-hour access to bathrooms, a crucial amenity for any camping experience.
  • Laundry: Laundry facilities are available on-site, although it's mentioned that their operating hours may be limited during the winter months (e.g., open for only 6 hours).
  • Hot Tub: A hot tub is also available for relaxation, though its operating hours might also be restricted during the winter.
  • Waste Disposal: A dump station is conveniently located within the campground for RV users.
  • Pet-Friendly: For those who consider their furry friends part of the family, Thousand Trails Pacific City is a great spot for pets, allowing you to enjoy your camping experience with your companions.
  • Lodge, Pool, and Jacuzzi: The campground features a lodge, a pool, and a jacuzzi. While described as decent but slightly outdated, these facilities offer additional recreational options for guests. However, it's important to note that these amenities may have reduced operating hours during the winter season.
  • Showers: Campers have reported that the showers are nice. However, there was a mention of the women’s shower by the pool not getting very hot, while the men’s shower was reportedly much warmer.
  • Connectivity: While cell service is generally poor in the area, complimentary WiFi is available at the lodge. Additionally, it seems that paid WiFi access might be an option at individual campsites for those needing a more reliable internet connection.
  • Site Features: Each regular campsite is equipped with a standard picnic table and a fire pit, essential for enjoying outdoor meals and campfires.

One reviewer specifically mentioned that the individuals working at the campground are really helpful and many live on-site, which can be reassuring for guests.

Features and Highlights:

The standout features of Thousand Trails Pacific City, making it a strong contender in the "camping near me" search, include its mostly private campsites, the ready availability of water and electricity, and its pet-friendly policy. The beautiful location and landscaping further enhance its appeal. For RVers, the option to camp for extended periods (depending on their membership plan) before needing to spend a week away can be a significant advantage, especially for full-time RV living. The affordability, as highlighted by a reviewer, also makes it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers.

Areas for Improvement:

While there are many positives, some areas for potential improvement have been noted by visitors. These are important to consider for a balanced perspective:

  • Uneven Sites: Some campsites are not flat, which can pose a challenge for those without auto-leveling systems in their RVs.
  • Communication and Issue Resolution: A recurring concern seems to be the lack of a clear structure for lodging complaints and following up on issues. Instances of broken laundry and hot tub facilities lasting for a week were mentioned. Additionally, navigating member services online (website organization) and getting through via phone can sometimes be difficult.
  • Safety Concerns: One reviewer raised significant safety concerns regarding the lack of a clear process for reporting and resolving issues, particularly those involving other guests. A disturbing incident involving a perceived misuse of a bathroom was mentioned, with the reviewer stating that no action was taken by Thousand Trails. The lack of family or gender-neutral bathrooms was also noted. Furthermore, there seems to be limited on-site support for conflict resolution after 6 pm until 10 am the following day.
