Thunder Mountain Campground Bristol Introduce
For local users in Bristol, Tennessee, and visitors seeking a welcoming and budget-friendly "camping near me" experience, particularly those with RVs or campers looking for affordable options near Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS), Thunder Mountain Campground Bristol, located at 2623 Volunteer Pkwy, Bristol, TN 37620, USA, presents a compelling choice. This campground is praised for its exceptional hospitality, affordability, and convenient location, making it a noteworthy option for those exploring the "camping near me" platform category.
The environment of Thunder Mountain Campground Bristol is highlighted by the presence of a "beautiful creek to look at," offering a natural and potentially relaxing backdrop for campers. The sound of a flowing creek can add to the tranquility of a camping experience. While the immediate surroundings are likely influenced by its proximity to Volunteer Parkway and the Bristol area, the presence of this natural feature suggests a touch of scenic beauty within the campground itself. For local users who appreciate a natural element in their "camping near me" search, the creek at Thunder Mountain Campground is a definite plus.
One of the most striking aspects of Thunder Mountain Campground, evident in the customer reviews, is the exceptional hospitality provided by the owner, Clay, and the entire crew. One long-term group, affectionately known as the "Bristol Mafia," who have been staying at the campground for six years, expresses immense appreciation for the welcoming atmosphere and the staff's dedication. They recount instances where the crew goes "above and beyond" to make them feel welcome, including providing transportation to various locations and consistently checking on their needs. This level of personalized care and attention truly makes Thunder Mountain Campground feel like a "home away from home" for its guests. For local users seeking a campground with a strong sense of community and genuinely caring staff, Thunder Mountain Campground stands out as a very welcoming option.
Another significant advantage of Thunder Mountain Campground is its affordability, particularly for RV and camper owners. One reviewer explicitly states, "It's the cheapest place to put your camper or RV in Bristol that has electric water and sewer." This is a crucial factor for budget-conscious travelers and local users looking for cost-effective "camping near me" with essential hookups. The availability of electric, water, and sewer connections provides convenience and comfort for RV stays, and finding these at the most affordable rate in the Bristol area makes Thunder Mountain Campground a highly attractive option for RVers.
The campground offers essential amenities for RV and camper stays, including electric, water, and sewer hookups. These full hookups are vital for the comfort and functionality of recreational vehicles, allowing guests to easily manage their power, water supply, and waste disposal. While one review mentions "limited wifi and it is limited," this suggests that while internet access is available, it might not be as robust or widespread as some travelers might expect. However, for many campers, especially those focused on enjoying the outdoors and local attractions, limited Wi-Fi might be an acceptable trade-off for the affordability and other positive aspects of the campground.
The friendly nature of most of the people at the campground is also highlighted in the reviews, contributing to a positive and community-oriented atmosphere. Interacting with friendly fellow campers can enhance the overall camping experience, creating a sense of camaraderie and shared enjoyment of the outdoors. This social aspect, combined with the welcoming staff, makes Thunder Mountain Campground a potentially enjoyable place to stay for both short-term and long-term visitors.
Given its location in Bristol, Thunder Mountain Campground is likely to be a convenient base for exploring local attractions, including the renowned Bristol Motor Speedway, which is a major draw to the area. While the exact distance to the speedway isn't mentioned in the reviews, its location on Volunteer Parkway, a main thoroughfare in Bristol, suggests relatively easy access. For local users or those visiting for races or other events at BMS, staying at Thunder Mountain Campground offers an affordable and welcoming lodging option nearby.

Thunder Mountain Campground Bristol Reviews
Thunder Mountain Campground has been the home of the “Bristol Mafia” for 6 years! Words will never express how much we love and appreciate Clay and the entire crew! They go above and beyond making us feel welcome, driving us to and from wherever we need to go and always checking on us if we need anything at all. They honestly make our “home away from home” so awesome that we don’t want to go home! If you are looking for a very welcoming campground- look no further!
Sep 27, 2024 · Amie SpurlingIt's the cheapest place to put your camper or RV in Bristol that has electric water and sewer. There's limited wifi and it is limited. But they have a beautiful creek to look at and most of the people are nice.
Dec 03, 2024 · Jessica RandolphThis is our third year going to Rythem & Roots and staying at this campground. When we first got there and found out they was doing their own shuttle instead of the main one. We was very upset. I must say, we were very happy with the way they did it. Clay was amazing. Instead of having to wait and make tons of stops. We just called him when we were ready to go and went straight from point A to B. He was available 24/7. All employees and owners really tried and succeeded in bending over backwards to make us happy. The women's bathhouse was very clean. The bar had a great band and the owner was really nice.We will see ya next year.Thank you,Marti Neal
Sep 12, 2023 · Marti NealWorst campground ever! Watched drug deals happen, sketchy characters allowed to stay in the campground, bathrooms are disgusting, showers clog up/drains nasty, and the people who run it constantly drive around on a golf cart, harassing campground tenants, Filming people, extremely unprofessional & rude. Roads aren’t even paved, huge potholes everywhere. Camp spots turn into a mud hole whenever it rains. Do NOT recommend staying here.
Jul 12, 2024 · BubbaSparxxx TourDJI had a amazing experience while staying at this campground. Howard and his awesome wife took me under their wings like a heavenly champ. I was going through some major struggles and their kindness and help will be forever appreciated. The bathrooms are ALWAYS CLEAN. That’s saying a lot from a professional, residential and commercial cleaning company owner, such as myself. I would go back and as far as I’m concerned it will always be a first pick to stay. There was some mud issues. They plan on getting gravel in order to fix that. I think they have spots for ANY SIZE. Make suits you check that for sure though. Mine is 30 foot. There is a beautiful river on the private land and everyone has plenty of solitude if they want to visit it. The birds are plentiful and the beautiful baby geese are growing preciously. Walmart is local within 5 minutes!
