Toasted Marshmallow Introduce
For local users exploring the "camping near me" category and seeking a cabin rental experience in the popular Broken Bow region of Oklahoma, Toasted Marshmallow, located at 50400, Broken Bow, OK 74728, USA, offers a visually appealing and well-equipped accommodation option. According to a recent customer review from October 2023, the cabin boasts a "clean and beautiful" interior with "gorgeous finishes" and is "filled with everything you might need," even including a blender, suggesting a focus on providing a comfortable and convenient stay, potentially ideal for holiday gatherings.
The review highlights the convenience of an online portal for accessing essential information such as directions, door codes, and Wi-Fi passwords. However, it also notes a potential inconvenience: the last two street signs on the provided directions were reportedly non-existent at the time of the stay. The reviewer recommends taking screenshots of the crucial information beforehand, as they had to return to town to obtain the Wi-Fi password, although they did find that Google Maps provided accurate directions. This suggests that while the cabin itself is well-prepared, the provided navigational information might have some inaccuracies.
One of the significant drawbacks mentioned in the review concerns the surrounding environment and the level of seclusion. The guest reported being "surrounded by other larger cabins," which contradicts the expectation of a secluded natural retreat that some users might associate with a "camping near me" cabin experience. Furthermore, during their stay, a nearby cabin was under construction, with work occurring from 8 am to 9 pm on the first day and 8 am to 6 pm on subsequent days. The reviewer expressed disappointment at not being warned about this construction, as it "severely impacted" their stay and detracted from the peaceful enjoyment of the property. They noted that the construction was visible from the porch couch and the front window, diminishing the sense of privacy despite the presence of a privacy screen on the porch, which was deemed "pointless" due to visibility through the railing. The reviewer also mentioned seeing and hearing an additional four cabins from both the front and back of Toasted Marshmallow, leading to the conclusion that "I don't think there is a secluded cabin in the area" and observing ongoing construction by multiple companies in the subdivision. This lack of seclusion and the presence of construction noise are critical factors for local users seeking a tranquil escape.
Another significant concern raised in the review pertains to privacy, specifically regarding a security camera pointed directly at the hot tub on the back porch. The reviewer stated that while the property management claimed the camera was directed at the entrance for security purposes, its positioning, with the "eye pointed directly at the hot tub," made them "very uncomfortable." As a result, they reportedly avoided using the back porch until construction workers left and even covered the camera lens with a hat to prevent being filmed while using the hot tub. This raises serious privacy considerations for potential guests who expect a private and unmonitored experience, especially in areas intended for relaxation like a hot tub.
In contrast, the reviewer found the other camera, which watched the front door, to be "perfectly acceptable," indicating an understanding of the need for security monitoring at entry points. This distinction highlights that the issue was specifically with the camera overlooking the hot tub area.
Beyond the environmental and privacy concerns, the review also details a highly negative experience with the "operation manager," Kelly, regarding alleged damages. Five days after their rental, the guest received an email accusing them of causing $160 worth of damages (later specified as dirty towels) and stating that an attempt to charge their deactivated card had failed. The reviewer expressed outrage at the unprofessional tone, the lack of prior notification or evidence of damages, and the unethical attempt to charge their card without explanation. Upon requesting more information, they received six pictures of what they described as unwashed dirty towels, three of which they claimed were their own that they had accidentally left behind. The situation escalated to the point where Kelly reportedly threatened to forward the matter to her legal department, indicating a severe breakdown in customer service and communication.
Adding to the negative aspects of the stay, the reviewer mentioned encountering ants and bugs inside the cabin throughout the weekend and discovering a non-operational microwave. While these issues were considered less significant compared to the construction, lack of privacy, and customer service experience, they still detract from the overall quality of the rental.
The reviewer strongly advises potential guests to read reviews before booking and suggests that the owners should consider changing management companies due to the reported negative interactions with Kelly, stating that this seemed to be a recurring issue based on other reviews they had since read. They emphasized that a reasonable request for legitimate damages would have been promptly paid, but the handling of the situation, particularly the demand for $160 for allegedly dirty towels (including their own), was deemed unreasonable and unprofessional.
In conclusion, while Toasted Marshmallow in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, appears to offer a clean and beautifully finished interior with a comprehensive set of amenities, as highlighted by the positive aspects of the review, local users considering this "camping near me" option must be aware of significant potential drawbacks. These include the lack of seclusion due to the proximity of other cabins and ongoing construction in the area, a concerning privacy issue with a security camera pointed directly at the hot tub, and a severely negative report regarding post-rental communication and alleged damage claims. Potential renters should carefully weigh these factors and consider seeking further clarification from the property management regarding the construction schedule, camera positioning, and their customer service practices before making a booking to ensure a satisfactory experience.

Toasted Marshmallow Reviews
At Ease Cabin Oct 2023Pros: The cabin is clean and beautiful. Gorgeous finishes. It's filled with everything you can might need. It would be perfect for the holidays. They even have a blender and such. There is portal online to get your info. Take screenshots of the directions, door code and wifi. We got out there and had to drive back to town to get the wifi password. We did find that Google knew the directions.Cons: The last two street signs on the directions do not exist yet.You are surrounded by other larger cabins. One was being built and they were working from 8am-9pm our first day there. They were 8am-6pm the other days. We were not warned. That severely impacted us. It's not the workers fault, it's the property manager that didn't note it when we rented. You can see that cabin and they see you when you sit on the porch couch, when you look out the front window, you also see that cabin. There is a privacy screen on the porch but it's pointless, you see them through the railing. There are an additional 4 cabins you can see and hear from the back and front. I don't think there is a secluded cabin in the area. We saw three companies building in that subdivision. I heard a man quieting his child at play when I'm sure they thought they'd be able to let the kids play without worrying about it. It was not what was advertised.-There is a camera pointed directly at the hot tub. You can see the eye pointed at the hot tub. They claim it is outside looking at the entrance. It could have been placed many places to do that. It is looking directly into the hot tub. We could not use the back porch until construction workers left and we put a hat over the camera so they don't have video of us half naked. It made us very uncomfortable. The other camera watches the front door which is perfectly acceptable.
Nov 01, 2023 · Emily Morris (auntiem)ntially, I was going to keep my concerns to myself. However, after communicating with the supposed "operation manager" Kelly. I felt obligated to speak. And wish I had read reviews prior to booking. 5 days after rental, I recieved email stating I had incurred $160 worth of damages and that they had attempted to charge my card, however it didn't go through and that I "need to contact my bank asap and authorize these charges or they would take it to the next level" Outside of the the threat, unprofessionalism, the unecthical practice of attempting to charge my card, without notifying me, providing me with ANY evidence of or reciept of damages! Had my card not be deactivated, they would've just taken my money with no explanations! After I requested more information and I advised that I was also offended by the tone of the email, Kelly sent me 6 pictures of DIRTY TOWELS! Yes she is requesting $160 for TOWELS! Towels that per the pictures she sent haven't even been washed! BUT the biggest JOKE is 3 of the towels WERE OURS! That we accidently left! Additionally, upon our arrival we located a closet that had several DIRTY TOWELS in it. Kelly has stated she will foward me to her legal department, so I guess to COURT we go! While the cabin is beautiful, we fought ants and bugs all weekend & A microwave that was inoperable. But none of that pales in to comparsion to the HORRIBLE attitude and communication of KELLY! Per the other reviews this seems to be the norm, it would be in the owners best interest to get another company ASAP! Had a REASONABLE REQUEST FOR REASONABLE DAMAGES BEEN MADE, PAYMENT WOULD HAVE BEEN SENT WITH NO HESITATION! Never has a HOTEL wanted to charge me a $160 for 3 TOWELS!
