Wakarusa River Cabin

Lawrence, KS 66047, USA

4.0
This is the largest cabin. It has one bedroom with a full bed and a full futon, another bedroom with 2 sets of bunkbeds (4single beds), and another full futon in the kitchen. So it could actually sleep 10 but there is only 1 bathroom. They do NOT provide linens, pillows, blankets, coffee, cooking oil, sugar or salt and pepper, sponges or paper towels, so bring everything!! I feel the price is steep for what they provide. There is no view of the lake in the summer and very little shade from the sun. Maybe fall or spring camping there would be better? Hiking trails start right by this cabin. There are 3 picnic tables on the patio along with a grill and a fire ring. NO pets allowed in this cabin but they are allowed in the others. - Gretchen

Wakarusa River Cabin Introduce

For local users searching within the "camping near me" category and seeking a spacious cabin rental option near Lawrence, KS, the Wakarusa River Cabin, located in Lawrence, KS 66047, USA, offers a large accommodation suitable for groups. Based on recent customer reviews, this cabin provides ample sleeping space and access to outdoor recreational activities, although potential renters should be aware of certain limitations and items that are not provided.

The environment surrounding the Wakarusa River Cabin is characterized by its proximity to nature, including access to hiking trails that start right by the cabin. While the name suggests a location directly on the Wakarusa River, the reviews indicate a nuanced relationship with nearby water bodies. One reviewer noted that a view of the lake is only available when the leaves are off the trees, suggesting that during the summer months, foliage obstructs the lake view. Additionally, this reviewer mentioned that it is "not easy to get to the water from the cabin sites," implying that direct and convenient water access may not be a primary feature of this specific cabin's location. Despite the limited lake views and access, the presence of "wonderful wildlife" suggests that the natural environment around the cabin is rich and offers opportunities for wildlife viewing. The proximity to hiking trails is a significant environmental feature, providing immediate access to outdoor recreation and exploration of the surrounding area. The mention of "very little shade from the sun" during the summer might be a consideration for those planning to spend significant time outdoors around the cabin during warmer months.

The Wakarusa River Cabin is described as the "largest cabin" available, offering substantial sleeping capacity. It features one bedroom with a full bed and a full futon, a second bedroom with two sets of bunk beds (totaling four single beds), and an additional full futon located in the kitchen area. This sleeping arrangement could theoretically accommodate up to ten people. However, it is important to note that the cabin has only one bathroom, which might be a significant consideration for larger groups. A crucial piece of information from a reviewer is that the cabin does NOT provide linens, pillows, blankets, coffee, cooking oil, sugar, salt and pepper, sponges, or paper towels. Therefore, renters must bring all of these items themselves. The cabin does offer some outdoor amenities, including a patio with three picnic tables, a grill, and a fire ring, providing spaces for outdoor dining and campfires (subject to local regulations). A significant policy to note is that NO pets are allowed in this specific cabin, although they are permitted in other cabins at the location. This is an important consideration for local users traveling with pets who are searching within the "camping near me" category for pet-friendly accommodations.

The primary features of the Wakarusa River Cabin are its large size and sleeping capacity, making it suitable for families or groups. The provision of three picnic tables, a grill, and a fire ring enhances its appeal for outdoor gatherings and cooking. The immediate access to hiking trails is another significant feature, catering to those interested in exploring the natural surroundings on foot. The potential for wildlife viewing adds to the cabin's appeal for nature lovers. However, the limited or seasonal lake views and the potentially inconvenient access to the water from the cabin site might be drawbacks for some renters seeking a lakeside experience. The fact that essential items like linens and kitchen basics are not provided is a key feature that distinguishes this cabin and requires renters to be well-prepared. The "no pets allowed" policy for this specific cabin is also a defining feature that potential renters with pets must consider, especially since other cabins at the location do allow them.

For local users searching for "camping near me" and needing accommodation for a large group, the Wakarusa River Cabin offers a potentially suitable option due to its substantial sleeping capacity. The access to nearby hiking trails is a definite advantage for those interested in outdoor recreation. The provision of picnic tables, a grill, and a fire ring allows for enjoyable outdoor meals and gatherings. However, the lack of provided linens and kitchen essentials means renters must be prepared to bring everything. The seasonal or limited lake views and potentially inconvenient water access might be less appealing to those specifically seeking a lakeside retreat. The "no pets allowed" policy for this cabin is a crucial consideration for pet owners, who might need to inquire about the pet-friendly options available at other cabins at the same location. Potential renters should weigh the spaciousness and trail access against the limited amenities provided and the potential lack of a prominent lake experience.

Local users utilizing the "camping near me" platform to plan a stay at the Wakarusa River Cabin should pay close attention to the list of items that are NOT provided, as mentioned in the reviews. This includes linens (sheets, pillowcases), pillows, blankets, coffee, cooking oil, sugar, salt and pepper, sponges, and paper towels. Renters will need to bring all of these items to ensure a comfortable and functional stay. When searching local camping supply stores or general retailers under the "camping near me" category, renters should create a checklist based on these non-provided items. For those interested in hiking, local outdoor gear shops might offer trail maps or advice on the nearby hiking trails. If lake access is a priority, it might be wise to inquire further about the ease of reaching the water from the cabin site and whether there are any public access points nearby. Pet owners should specifically inquire about the pet-friendly cabins available at the same location if traveling with animals is a necessity.

The reviews do not explicitly offer any promotional information or discounts for the Wakarusa River Cabin. One reviewer felt that the price was "steep for what they provide," suggesting that potential renters should carefully consider the cost in relation to the amenities and the need to bring many of their own supplies. The fact that the cabin can sleep a large group might be seen as an inherent value proposition for those traveling with many people, as it consolidates accommodation in one place. The immediate access to hiking trails could also be considered a promotional point for outdoor enthusiasts. Potential renters might look for any seasonal discounts or group rates that may be offered by contacting the rental management directly or checking the booking platform if available through a "camping near me" service.

In conclusion, the Wakarusa River Cabin near Lawrence, KS, offers a spacious accommodation suitable for large groups, with access to nearby hiking trails and outdoor amenities such as picnic tables, a grill, and a fire ring. However, potential renters should be aware that essential items like linens and kitchen basics are not provided and that lake views and access may be limited or seasonal. The "no pets allowed" policy for this specific cabin is also a key consideration for pet owners. Local users searching for "camping near me" should carefully weigh the cabin's size and location against the need to bring their own supplies and the potential limitations regarding lake views and access. Contacting the rental management for any current promotions or further details about the property and surrounding area is recommended to make an informed decision.
