Beach is beautiful. Campground staff was friendly and helpful. I'd called to see I could bring my golf cart as to assist in getting to the beach and back from our camping spot. I reconfirm this a week before my trip. After getting there, checking in with my golf cart, I set up and used the golf cart to get wood. I was immediately stopped by a cop before even getting to the booth to be told he'll speak to the campground but because I don't have blinkers, seat belts, a campground pass and it wasn't insured. I explained is actually insured and the city I live in, it is as legal as a regular or electric bike and we just use hand signals). The staff of the campground told me to email someone who can get me a pass but I'm now home days after leaving and still never got a response or pass. Due to the misinformation, it made for a pretty miserable trips to the beach in 90°+Not sure why but 1 entire day we couldn't even stay at the beach due to mass of flys biting everyone. - Colleen Farewell

For local adventurers seeking a "camping near me" experience with stunning beach access on Lake Michigan, Weko Beach Campground, situated at 5239 Lake St, Bridgman, MI 49106, USA, presents an attractive option. With phone numbers (269) 465-3406 and +1 269-465-3406, this campground has garnered attention for its beautiful beach and friendly staff, although some aspects, as reflected in customer reviews, warrant careful consideration for potential visitors.

The environment of Weko Beach Campground is a significant highlight, with reviewers consistently praising the "beautiful" beach. The sand is described as "white and soft," and the presence of waves, especially further down towards Warren Dunes State Park, creates an atmosphere reminiscent of an ocean beach, with one reviewer even comparing it to Maui. The campground's proximity to Lake Michigan offers opportunities for swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying the scenic beauty of the lake. However, one review mentioned an issue with a "mass of flies biting everyone" on one particular day, suggesting that natural elements can occasionally impact the beach experience. The campground's location also provides easy access to Warren Dunes State Park, known for its impressive sand dunes and a designated dog beach, expanding the recreational opportunities for visitors, especially those traveling with pets. While the immediate camping spots near the lake might be "a little tight," they are reportedly "well worth the sunsets and access to the beach," indicating a trade-off between space and prime location. The overall environment is one of natural beauty along the Lake Michigan shoreline, offering a quintessential beach camping experience.

The services and facilities at Weko Beach Campground appear to cater to both campers and cabin renters. The availability of "full hook-up sites" is a significant convenience for RV travelers. In addition to campsites, the campground offers cabin rentals, as mentioned by a reviewer who stayed in one. These cabins are described as "nice" and equipped with a double-size bed and twin bunk beds, providing a more sheltered accommodation option. The reviewer noted the comfort of the beds and the presence of a "good fire-pit and picnic table" at the cabin sites, essential for outdoor cooking and relaxation. Firewood is available for purchase on-site at a cost of $7.00 per bundle. A notable drawback mentioned in the reviews is the limited number of bathroom and shower facilities relative to the size of the campground, with some cabins being quite a distance from the nearest facility, necessitating a drive or a long walk. While "outhouses" are available closer to some sites, they might not be a preferred option for all visitors. The friendly and helpful nature of the campground staff was also highlighted in a review, indicating a positive aspect of the service provided. However, another review detailed an issue with misinformation regarding golf cart usage and a lack of response regarding a requested pass, suggesting potential inconsistencies in communication or policy enforcement.

The features of Weko Beach Campground are centered around its prime lakeside location and the amenities provided for a comfortable stay. The direct access to a beautiful sandy beach with Lake Michigan waves is a key feature. The availability of both campsites with full hook-ups and cabin rentals offers flexibility in accommodation choices. The proximity to Warren Dunes State Park, with its dog beach and dune hiking, significantly enhances the appeal for outdoor enthusiasts and pet owners. The presence of fire pits and picnic tables at campsites and cabins encourages outdoor living and socializing. The on-site purchase of firewood adds convenience for campers wanting to enjoy campfires. However, the limited bathroom/shower facilities and the potential for miscommunication regarding campground rules, as highlighted in the reviews, are important features to be aware of. The parking situation is also noteworthy: while parking at Warren Dunes State Park is free, visitors should be prepared to pay for parking at Weko Beach itself. The serene and fun atmosphere reported by one reviewer suggests that despite some drawbacks, the overall experience at Weko Beach Campground can be positive and enjoyable, particularly for those who value beach access and a lakeside setting.

Its beautiful beach, proximity to Warren Dunes State Park, and the availability of both campsites and cabin rentals are significant draws.
