Wildwood Acres Introduce
For local users in Ohio searching for "camping near me," Wildwood Acres, located at 6091 Marvin Rd, Andover, OH 44003, presents a camping option. However, it's crucial to consider recent feedback from campers to gain a comprehensive understanding of what this campground offers. Reviews indicate a mix of experiences, with some positive aspects like friendly neighbors on certain lots contrasted by concerns regarding amenities, pricing structure, and management policies.
The environment at Wildwood Acres seems to vary depending on the specific campsite. One long-term visitor mentioned staying on a "small lot" initially and later moving to a "nice big lot," suggesting a range in campsite sizes. The campground is likely situated in a wooded area, given the general nature of campgrounds and the lack of contrary information. However, specific details about the natural surroundings, such as proximity to water bodies or hiking trails within the property, are not provided in the reviews. The removal of diving boards from the swimming pool in early 2023 has altered the recreational environment. While an ice cream shack was added as a replacement, this change might be perceived differently by campers who valued the diving boards.
The services and amenities at Wildwood Acres have elicited varied reactions from visitors. The "pool" is identified as the "best amenity" by one reviewer. However, a significant drawback highlighted is the frequent closure of the pool due to the absence of a lifeguard, even during peak times like holiday weekends. This inconsistent availability diminishes the value of this key recreational feature for potential campers. Other services and features mentioned or implied in the reviews include:
- Electrical Hookups: One camper on a "small lot" reported insufficient electrical capacity, experiencing tripped breakers when using an air conditioner in conjunction with other common appliances like a microwave or air fryer. This issue persisted over time and was also experienced by other campers on the same row of lots. This suggests potential limitations in the electrical infrastructure at certain campsites.
- Water and Sewer Hookups: The reviews do not explicitly detail the availability of water and sewer hookups at individual campsites. Campgrounds typically offer different levels of hookups (e.g., full hookup, water and electric only, primitive), and local users should inquire about the specific options available for different lots.
- Recreational Facilities: Feedback on recreational amenities beyond the pool is negative. One reviewer described the absence of a "game room" and a "putt putt" course that is "not updated in 20 years," with a playing surface so weathered it's unusable. This suggests that these facilities are either non-existent or in poor condition.
- Ice Cream Shack: Installed after the removal of the diving boards, this provides an on-site option for purchasing ice cream.
- Membership Model and Fees: Wildwood Acres appears to operate on a membership basis. One long-term camper noted a significant increase in membership fees (approximately $300) over three years. Additionally, there is a daily charge for guests, with a tiered pricing structure: an extra $40 per day for children under 18 (beyond two children and two adults) and $60 per day for guests aged 18 and over. This pricing structure could make it expensive for larger families or those who frequently have visitors.
- Air Conditioning Fee: Campers are charged $3 per day to run air conditioning, a policy that one reviewer found unreasonable, arguing that it should be included in the membership fee.
- Gate Key Card Return Policy: Upon terminating their membership, campers are required to provide a two-week notice to return gate key cards to receive a $60 refund. There is also an expectation that the campsite be "spotless" upon departure, although one reviewer noted inconsistencies in the enforcement of this policy compared to the condition of lots upon arrival.
- Customer Service: One review described "horrible customer service," alleging that young staff members in the office were unable to handle phone calls or answer questions effectively in person.
The features of Wildwood Acres, based on the provided reviews, present a mixed bag. The pool, when operational, seems to be a popular feature. However, its frequent closures significantly detract from its value. The availability of "nice big lots" is a positive aspect for some campers seeking more space. Conversely, the insufficient electrical capacity on smaller lots is a notable limitation. The lack of a functional game room and the dilapidated state of the putt-putt course are significant drawbacks for those seeking on-site recreational activities beyond swimming. The various fees associated with membership, guests, and air conditioning can make the overall cost of camping at Wildwood Acres quite high, especially for families and those with visitors. The reported issues with customer service and the potentially inconsistent enforcement of departure policies are also important considerations.
Promotional information for Wildwood Acres is not mentioned in the provided customer reviews. Local users interested in any potential discounts for new memberships, seasonal rates, or family packages should contact the campground directly at (440) 293-6838 or mobile phone at +1 440-293-6838. It would be prudent to inquire about the total cost of camping, including membership fees, guest charges, and any additional fees for amenities like air conditioning, to get a clear understanding of the financial commitment involved.
In conclusion, Wildwood Acres in Andover, Ohio, offers a campground experience that has elicited both positive and negative feedback from recent visitors. While some campers have appreciated aspects like friendly neighbors on certain larger lots, significant concerns have been raised regarding the inconsistent availability of the pool, limitations in electrical infrastructure on some sites, the poor condition of other recreational facilities, potentially high overall costs due to various fees, and issues with customer service and management policies. Local users searching for "camping near me" should carefully weigh these points and conduct thorough research, including directly contacting Wildwood Acres for the most up-to-date information on pricing, amenities, and policies, before making a decision. Visiting the campground in person to assess the conditions and facilities might also be a beneficial step.

Wildwood Acres Reviews
Spent 3 years here. First year was on a small lot and electrical wasn't sufficient and I couldn't run AC with any other electrical device like a microwave or air fryer without tripping a breaker and it has been that way long before I got on the row of lots because I talked to someone else that was on that row. Year 2 got on a nice big lot and neighbors were always nice there. Diving boards were removed at the beginning of 2023 and that was the selling point right there for me. I heard something with insurance and someone supposedly got hurt but hey, owners were able to reallocate freed up funds and get an ice cream shack in there to make, possibly, more money than the diving boards brought in. The pool was the best amenity and it would be closed at any given time due to no lifeguard, even on a holiday weekend! They want 3 dollars per day to run A/C which is more than it cost to cool down our home and should be included in our membership fee but no. Membership has gone up about 300 since I started going there and not to mention you have to pay for guests daily. 🙄 went to turn in my key cards for gate to get my 60 bucks and I have to give a2 week notice like it's a job and have a spotless lot... sorry folks my lot wasn't spotless when I got there and my brother's wasn't either and he didn't give a 2 week notice and got his money. It's all about the almighty buck here folks. I'm gladWe're out, we'll miss the friends we made there but too high a price for too little. Talking about money if you have over 2 children and 2 adults in your family you'll pay an extra 40 per child under 18 and 60 for 18 and over. Do your research before landing here! I'm amazed at the 4.3 star rating since I got 3 years of experience there and seeing all the 1 star reviews before mine......
Oct 17, 2023 · dallas stoneHorrible. No game room, putt putt hasn't been updated in 20 years can't even play on the turf it's so weathered and outdated. Horrible customer service, over priced. Would not recommend, have young girls running the office that can not answer a phone or questions in person ridiculous
Jul 21, 2024 · candis carmelloRainy Friday night and Saturday morning till noon. Overall good park. Need more showers and bathrooms in camping areas. Had hard time finding port a potty close to campsite. Only showers in front of park. Would need to drive to the showers in front and back to campsite.
Jul 18, 2021 · Carol NorfleetSite 39 was very small, the neighbors had an attitude because hubby walked onto their campsight crossing the road, witch is wrong, but i couldnt use my picnic table because their sewage aparatus was on top of the picnic table at our campsight. Electric hookup was 2 campsights away, water was 3 campsights in the other direction. Plenty of other places around, i would suggest camping elsewhere.
Jul 15, 2024 · Dawn DellorsoOwner is extremely rude. He has new laws daily. Can’t use golf carts but golf carts are driving their roads continuously. Can’t use little kids carts or scooters even though scooters are registered and licensed! The one pool left is disgusting and there are according to the owner, people watching and reporting you! I started going here when I was 13. And now 71 and will never come back. The old owners were awesome but the new ones seem to not want any business at all. Came here for a birthday weekend and rented two lots so we could have one for golf carts and scoter and kids little vehicles and was told we can’t use any of them even though they knew ahead of time that was why we rented extra lot! They gladly took our money though! Don’t come here because it’s not at all a fun place to be unless you want to be verbally abused and threatened daily with new laws!!!! Awful place!!! Before It was hard to get a permanent site here but with people leaving all the time it’s easy now!! Gee I wonder why???
