Willow Beach Recreation Area & Campground Introduce
For local adventurers in search of "camping near me" in the Scott, Arkansas area, Willow Beach Recreation Area & Campground, located at Park, 11690 Willow Beach Rd, Scott, AR 72142, USA, offers a unique camping experience along the water. This campground presents a blend of well-maintained facilities and natural beauty, making it a potential destination for those seeking a convenient outdoor escape. However, it's important for prospective visitors to be aware of all aspects of the location, as indicated by recent customer feedback.
The environment at Willow Beach Recreation Area & Campground is primarily characterized by its proximity to the water. One reviewer noted the presence of numerous water moccasins in the areas near the boat ramps and side banks, specifically cautioning against bank fishing in these locations. This suggests that while the campground offers water access, certain areas may pose a risk due to local wildlife. On a more positive note, the same reviewer explicitly stated that the campsite area appears "very clean and well taken care of," indicating a dedicated effort to maintain the camping facilities. Another visitor who stayed in a travel trailer highlighted the pleasant experience of being "on the water," particularly enjoying the sunsets. This suggests that the waterfront location offers scenic beauty and a relaxing ambiance, especially from the designated camping areas.
The services and amenities at Willow Beach Recreation Area & Campground appear to be well-received by campers. One review praised the hosts, Roy and his wife Debbie, as "gracious" and informative. Their attentiveness, including driving through the park in the late afternoon and evening to keep an eye on things, contributes to a sense of security and care for the guests. The availability of "decent enough" bathrooms is also mentioned, suggesting that while not luxurious, the facilities meet basic needs. For those utilizing the campsites, the reviewer noted that the sites are level, which is a significant advantage for setting up tents or parking RVs. Additionally, some picnic benches are equipped with pavilions, offering shade and protection from the elements. The presence of a grill and fire pit near the campsites further enhances the camping experience, providing opportunities for outdoor cooking and enjoying campfires. A "new children's playground" is also highlighted, making this a potentially family-friendly destination. The park offers "plenty of space to walk, bicycle within park," suggesting opportunities for recreation and enjoying the outdoors beyond the immediate campsite.
The features of Willow Beach Recreation Area & Campground include its direct access to the water, which, as noted, may have areas with significant wildlife presence. The clean and well-maintained campsite area is a significant feature, providing a comfortable and pleasant environment for overnight stays. The level sites are particularly beneficial for campers with trailers or RVs. The presence of pavilions over some picnic benches, along with grills and fire pits, adds to the convenience and enjoyment of the outdoor living space. The new children's playground makes it an attractive option for families with young children. The ample space for walking and bicycling within the park encourages outdoor activity and exploration. The graciousness and attentiveness of the hosts, as mentioned in one review, stand out as a key feature contributing to a positive guest experience. The unexpected act of southern hospitality, where the hosts shared food with visitors from out of state during a wedding event in the park, further underscores their welcoming nature.
It is crucial to address the potential issue of water moccasins in the fishing areas. The explicit warning from a visitor who encountered "DOZENS" of these snakes near the boat ramps and side banks cannot be ignored. This information is vital for local users considering Willow Beach for fishing activities. While the reviewer intended to return for boating, they strongly advised against bank fishing and recommended snake boots for anyone venturing near the water's edge. This suggests that while the campground itself may be well-maintained and pleasant, certain natural aspects of the environment require caution and awareness. The two-star rating given by this reviewer was specifically due to the abundance of snakes in the areas outside the campsite, despite acknowledging the cleanliness of the camping area.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, the positive comments regarding the clean campsite area, the level sites, the playground, and the friendly hosts can be seen as indirect endorsements for the camping experience itself. The mention of "great to be on the water, especially sunsets" also serves as an appealing aspect for potential visitors seeking a scenic and relaxing environment. For local users searching for "camping near me" with families, the presence of a new playground could be a significant draw. The quiet and friendly neighbors mentioned in one review contribute to a positive and welcoming atmosphere within the campground.

Willow Beach Recreation Area & Campground Reviews
Went out there to fish but the boat ramps and all the little side banks have DOZENS of water moccasins! The campsite 🏕️ area looks very clean and well taken care of. Do NOT recommend to bank fish this area. We left immediately after seeing 8+ snakes in one area. Will probably be back to drop a boat in and give this area another shot. With that many snakes in the neighborhood I would recommend some snake boots for sure! Give this 2 stars because of the camping area was clean but the rest I didn’t want to even go look due to the amount of snakes in the area.
Apr 27, 2025 · Brittney HortonStayed 2 nights in our Casita travel trailer on the way from NY to TX for rest. Good choice! Roy and his wife Debbie were gracious hosts, good information, kept an eye on all in the park especially late afternoon into the evening by driving thru. Neighbors quiet, friendly, bathrooms decent enough to use. Great to be on the water, especially sunsets. Sites are level, some of the picnic benches have pavilions over them. Also have grill and fire pit near. Next to new children's playground, plenty of space to walk, bicycle within park. There was a wedding in the park and they saw we were from New York and sent us food as a lively way to show southern hospitality. A big thank you!
Apr 29, 2025 · PeterI just love this spot. It’s quiet , nice and dark enough to see the stars at night ( no bright street lights), lovely setting, it’s very peaceful. If you are looking for peace and quiet in a nicely spaced out camping area, this is a very nice place.
