Wisconsin Ridge Campground Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in Wisconsin that offers stunning natural vistas and excellent hiking opportunities? Wisconsin Ridge Campground, located at 13081 State Park Ln, Bagley, WI 53801, USA, comes highly recommended by visitors for its "breathtaking views" and "great trails." You can reach them at (608) 996-2261 or +1 608-996-2261. Recent reviews highlight its scenic beauty and opportunities for disconnecting in nature, while also noting some seasonal limitations and site characteristics.
The Environment: Breathtaking Views and Natural Trails
Wisconsin Ridge Campground lives up to its name, with visitors consistently praising the "breathtaking views" it offers. One reviewer explicitly recommended securing a site along the northern ridge to experience the best of these vistas. This suggests that the campground is situated in a location with significant elevation changes, providing panoramic overlooks of the surrounding landscape. The emphasis on views indicates a visually appealing natural environment, likely encompassing rolling hills, valleys, and perhaps distant water features or forests.
Beyond the scenery, the campground is also noted for its "great trails." While one reviewer mentioned that the trails beyond the railings and stairs are "not super easy," this implies that there are well-maintained sections as well as more challenging terrain for those seeking a more rigorous hike. The trails offer an opportunity to immerse oneself in the natural environment and experience the "calls of nature." It's advised to wear proper footwear and consider using trekking poles, especially in poor conditions, to navigate the more challenging parts of the trail system.
One early spring visitor (March) noted that some areas of the campground, including their site (125) and others, were still "a bit soggy," which is to be expected during that time of year as the ground thaws. This suggests that while the views are a constant draw, the ground conditions at the campsites can vary seasonally.
The northern ridge campsites, which boast the best views, reportedly do not have electricity or water hookups. This indicates a more rustic camping experience in that prime viewing area, requiring campers to plan accordingly for their power and water needs.
Services and Features: Seasonal Amenities and Rustic Options
The services and features at Wisconsin Ridge Campground appear to vary depending on the time of year:
- Seasonal Bathrooms/Showers: One March visitor reported that the bathrooms and showers were not open as the water had not yet been turned on for the season. This suggests that these facilities are typically available during the warmer months.
- Vault Toilets: Even when the main restrooms are closed, vault toilets are available for use.
- Campsite Characteristics: At least in the section reviewed, the campsites were noted to be "pretty close to each other" with "not much vegetation between sites," potentially impacting privacy.
- Northern Ridge Sites: Offer the best views but lack electricity and water hookups, catering to a more self-sufficient camper.
One visitor mentioned that "all the features were not open in April," reinforcing the idea of seasonal availability of amenities. They expressed anticipation for a summer return to enjoy the full offerings of the campground. While the specifics of these additional features are not detailed, it implies that the campground may have more to offer during its peak season.
The fact that the cave on the property was not open during an early March visit also suggests that some attractions or facilities might have seasonal operating schedules.
The availability of vault toilets year-round ensures basic sanitation even when other water-dependent facilities are offline.
Features and Activities: Hiking, Views, and Disconnecting
Wisconsin Ridge Campground seems particularly well-suited for those who enjoy:
- Hiking: With trails ranging from easy to more challenging, it's a great place for exploring on foot.
- Scenic Views: The northern ridge campsites offer breathtaking panoramic vistas.
- Nature Appreciation: The campground is described as a "great place to disconnect and enjoy... the calls of nature."
- Rustic Camping (on the northern ridge): For those who prefer camping without electric and water hookups in exchange for prime views.
The mention of a cave, though seasonally closed, hints at another potential point of interest within or near the campground. The overall atmosphere seems to encourage a connection with nature and a break from the everyday.

Wisconsin Ridge Campground Reviews
The coolest campground I have been to. All the features were not open in April but I cannot wait to come back this summer to enjoy all of what they offer. Great place to disconnect and enjoy great trails, breathtaking views and the calls of nature.
Apr 16, 2025 · Ruth SpindlerWe stayed in site 125 March 9th - 11th 2025. The bathrooms/showers were not open as they haven't turn on the water yet. There are vault toilets available. The site we were at, as well as a few others we walked through, were still a bit soggy but that's to be expected this time of year. The views are the reason to come out here. You'll want to get a site along the northern ridge for the best veiw. Those sites don't have electricity or water so plan ahead. The sites are pretty close to each other in the section we were at and there isn't much vegetation between sites. The hiking trails were open but the cave was not. The trails are not super easy beyond the railings and stairs. I'd suggest proper footwear and trekking poles in poor conditions. All in all a good experience for early March.
Mar 17, 2025 · supernauticaWell maintained campground, so many well labeled trails for all ages and different skill levels. Gorgeous views!!! Campsites have options for electric and non. Not right on top of your neighbors, so that’s really nice and adds to the peacefulness. Canoe and kayak rentals as well as tennis and basketball courts and playgrounds throughout. The road was well maintained throughout the park, bikers and drivers can easily share the road way. Will definitely be returning!!!
Aug 03, 2023 · Tara CrothersBreathtakingly beautiful views from busy, but scenic campsites directly on the ridge. Highly recommend if you enjoy amazing vantages and a lot of company on the campsite itself. Not very private, but that’s ok. Sites are large enough for ~6 people and multiple vehicles. Bugs were almost nonexistent during our early autumn trip. A must visit state park.
Sep 13, 2023 · VincentFantastic place, sites are small but views are impressive. Stay away with trailers over 30' as sites are not capable to handle, nor the camp roads (very tight). Decent bathroom building too.
