Withrow Springs State Park Campground Introduce
For local residents seeking an enriching "camping near me" experience nestled in the heart of the Ozark Mountains, Withrow Springs State Park Campground, located in Huntsville, AR 72740, USA, offers a compelling destination. Easily reachable by phone at (479) 559-2593 or their mobile number, +1 479-559-2593, this state park campground provides a blend of natural beauty, recreational activities, and well-maintained facilities, making it an ideal choice for families, couples, and solo adventurers looking for a local outdoor getaway.
Spanning a generous 786 acres, Withrow Springs State Park boasts a diverse environment characterized by the scenic Ozark landscape. Visitors can expect rolling hills, wooded areas, and the potential for picturesque spring settings, as noted by one reviewer who visited in late April. The park's natural beauty provides a tranquil backdrop for camping and other outdoor pursuits. The mention of the War Eagle Trail and its "beautiful Ozark scenery" further emphasizes the visual appeal of this local gem.
The campground itself is described as "nice and quiet" by a visitor, suggesting a peaceful atmosphere conducive to relaxation and enjoying the natural surroundings. However, one camper noted being located next to the road (site 14) and expressed a preference for a site further away on their next visit. This indicates that while the overall campground is quiet, site selection might influence the level of traffic noise experienced. Local users making reservations may want to inquire about site locations to optimize their experience based on their preferences for proximity to amenities or distance from the road.
In terms of services and facilities, Withrow Springs State Park Campground appears well-equipped for a comfortable stay. The bathrooms are highlighted as "nice and clean," a significant factor for many campers. Beyond the basic amenities, the park offers a swimming pool, providing a refreshing option for recreation, especially during warmer months. The presence of "lots of picnic tables" suggests ample opportunities for outdoor dining and enjoying meals amidst the natural beauty of the park. Additionally, a "very nice pavilion" is available for rental, which could be ideal for larger gatherings, family reunions, or group events for local users looking for a scenic venue.
A significant feature of Withrow Springs State Park is its network of hiking trails. Three trails are mentioned, ranging in length from 3/4 mile to 2.5 miles, offering options for various fitness levels and hiking preferences. The War Eagle Trail is specifically detailed as a 1.5-mile loop with an additional 1/3-mile spur. The loop is described as relatively flat and easy, winding through wooded areas and offering "several nice views of the area." The spur, on the other hand, presents a more challenging terrain, going down and then back up rocky terrain for a total of just under a mile, rewarding hikers with "several nice overlook views of War Eagle Creek" and access to the creek at the bottom. These trails provide local users with excellent opportunities for exercise, exploration, and enjoying the natural beauty of the Ozarks.
For local users searching for "camping near me" that combines outdoor adventure with convenient amenities, Withrow Springs State Park Campground seems to strike a good balance. The availability of camping facilities (though specific details like the number of sites, hookups, or tent-only areas are not provided) indicates that it can accommodate different types of campers. The presence of a swimming pool adds a recreational element that goes beyond traditional camping activities like hiking and campfires.
The park's location, just a 30-minute drive from Fayetteville on Highway 23 North and only 4 miles from Huntsville, makes it easily accessible for many local residents in Northwest Arkansas. This proximity allows for shorter travel times, making it feasible for weekend getaways or even day trips to enjoy the hiking trails and other park amenities.

Apr 20, 2025 · Lexi DixsonMy wife and I did a quick hike on the War Eagle Trail at Withrow Springs State Park. A 30 minute drive from Fayetteville on Hwy 23 N, just 4 miles from Huntsville. Three fairly easy trails ranging from 3/4 mile to 2.5 miles. Beautiful Ozark scenery.See below for amenities and additional information.- 786 acres- 3 trails ranging from. 3/4th mile to 2.5 miles- camping facilities- swimming pool- lots of picnic tables- A very nice pavilion available for rentalThe War Eagle Trail is a 1.5 mile loop with a 1/3rd mile spur. The loop is relatively flat and easy to walk, it's wooded and has several nice views of the area. The spur is 1/3rd mile + down then back up so plan on just shy of a mile up and down rocky terrain. It has several nice overlook views of War Eagle Creek and access to the creek at the bottom.#ExploringSunday#AdventuresWithVeronica#PrettyLilGreenEyedPea
Dec 28, 2023 · Zane ChenaultBeautiful State Park. Very nice camper/RV sites with water & electric hookups. A couple have sewer on site. Level pads & spaced so you aren't right on top of your neighbors. Wooded & well maintained. Kudos to the keepers of this nice park. We will definitely be coming back to enjoy more of what this beautiful state park has to offer.
Oct 20, 2022 · T SavThis state park is beautiful. The camping facilities are excellent with a newer, clean bathhouse. The ten walk-in tent sites (paved concrete) have large gravel pads and fireplace rings. Three very nice nature trails are also in the park... highly recommended!
Feb 28, 2025 · Matt MarkleyWe enjoyed a weekend with family at this State Park. It's not one of the better known parks, which means less traffic and easier reservations. The campground has NO cell phone reception, but a quick drive up the hill to the Visitor's Center or Pool solved that problem. The pool does cost $6+ tax per person per day, AND they only accept cash. They have some basic snacks and drinks, but have more cash. The Interpreter programs were kid-friendly and informative, although we were told those are only offered seasonally.
