Pigeon Roost Campsite 3 Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the Rogers, Arkansas area? Consider Pigeon Roost Campsite 3, located in Rogers, AR 72756, USA. You can reach them at (479) 789-5000 or +1 479-789-5000. Based on recent customer reviews, this campsite offers a unique outdoor experience with its rocky terrain that prevents muddy conditions, beautiful blooming dogwood trees (especially noted in mid-March), and good access to water. It's also near a short hike with tent pads and light hookups. However, potential campers should be aware of the sloped tent pads and the need to tie off tents to rocks due to the difficulty of staking. For local users seeking a "camping near me" spot with natural beauty and water access, Pigeon Roost Campsite 3 presents some interesting features, along with a few considerations for tent setup.
Environment: Rocky Beauty with Water Access and Wildlife
The environment around Pigeon Roost Campsite 3 is described as having a "rocky terrain," which is a significant positive as it prevents the area from becoming a "muddy mess" even after 15 hours of rain. This is a notable advantage for those who have experienced the less pleasant aspects of camping in wet conditions. The presence of "dogwood trees" that were "in bloom and beautiful" in mid-March suggests that the campsite offers scenic beauty, particularly during the spring. The campsite also provides "good access to water," although it's mentioned that there is a "hike back up hill" from the water, indicating that the water source might be located lower in elevation than some of the campsites. One reviewer also noted seeing "plenty of armadillos" in the area, adding to the wildlife aspect of the environment. The combination of rocky terrain, flowering trees, water access, and local wildlife makes Pigeon Roost Campsite 3 an interesting option for those looking for a natural "camping near me" experience.
However, the review also points out that at least the "bigger pad" at campsite 3 was "sloped," causing campers to slide while sleeping. This is an important factor for tent campers to consider. The difficulty of staking tents due to the rocky ground is another environmental characteristic that requires a different approach to tent setup, specifically recommending tying off to rocks instead. Despite these challenges with tent setup on the bigger pad of site 3, the overall environment seems to be appreciated for its beauty and the lack of mud.
Services and Amenities: Tent Pads, Light Hookups, Water Access
Pigeon Roost Campsite 3 appears to offer tent pads, as mentioned in the reviews. One reviewer noted that the bigger pad at site 3 was sloped. Another review mentions a "short hike with tent pads and light hook." This suggests that at least some sites, possibly not all, have tent pads and potentially minimal electrical hookups ("light hook"). The "good access to water" is another service, although it involves a hike back uphill to the campsite. The honor system or the process for checking in and paying is not mentioned in these reviews, so that aspect of services remains unknown. Given the mention of tent pads and light hookups in conjunction with a short hike, it seems that Pigeon Roost Campsite 3 caters primarily to tent campers, with some sites possibly offering basic electrical connections.
The fact that one reviewer suggested sites 4 or 5 for a "bigger pad site that seemed a little more level" implies that there might be variations in the quality and slope of the tent pads across different campsites within Pigeon Roost. This is valuable information for potential campers choosing their specific site.
Features: Rocky Terrain, Dogwood Blooms, Water Access, Hiking, Wildlife
The key features of Pigeon Roost Campsite 3 include its unique rocky terrain that avoids mud, the beautiful blooming dogwood trees (seasonal), good access to water (though with an uphill return), proximity to a "great short hike," the presence of tent pads (with varying levels of slope), and the local armadillo population. For those who appreciate a natural setting where rain doesn't lead to muddy conditions, this could be a significant feature. The scenic beauty provided by the dogwood trees adds to the appeal, especially during their blooming season. The water access allows for potential enjoyment by the water, even if the return to the campsite is uphill. The short hike offers an opportunity for some light outdoor activity, and the wildlife sightings (like armadillos) can be interesting for nature enthusiasts.
However, the sloped tent pad at campsite 3 (at least the bigger one) and the difficulty of staking tents in the rocky ground are also notable characteristics that campers need to be prepared for. The recommendation to tie off tents to rocks is a crucial piece of advice for anyone planning to camp here.

Pigeon Roost Campsite 3 Reviews
I enjoyed a two night stay here with a few friends. First night was rainy and it rained for about 15 hours. Due to the rocky terrain, it was not a muddy mess, so that was very nice. The dogwood trees were in bloom and beautiful. My only reason for not giving a higher rating is that the tent pad was sloped and we all kept sliding when trying to sleep. Due to the size of our tent we had to use the bigger pad. Staking your tent is next to impossible, so tie off to rocks. After reviewing the sites, I would go to site 4 or 5 for the bigger pad site that seemed a little more level. Good access to water with a hike back up hill, and we enjoyed sunset and dinner down by the water.
