We really enjoyed our week long stay at Starkey Campground on Beaver Lake Arkansas. It's off the beaten path but it also means it's quiet and not as crowded. This area is definitely for smaller trailers as the sites aren't designed for large trailers/motorhomes. Majority of the sites are on a steep hill leading down to the lake, therefore be prepared for many sites to be uneven and bring a lot of leveling equipment with you. There are about 7(?) full hookups at the top of the hill with the remaining sites having just electricity and several water spigots throughout the campground. Septic dump and garbage is at the entrance to the campground.Campground has a shower house with two rooms. Water pressure and temp were good but it could use some updating. Bathrooms were just okay. They need to be pumped, deep cleaned and there was so many spiders and other bugs in and around the seats you had to bring towels to wipe them away.We stayed at site 23 and I would say that's probably one of the best sites (that's not full hookup). It's the closest one to the lake. Has a covering over the large picnic table. A water spigot is right across from the site and bathroom access close. The area of the site is large (not the spot for trailer). There is a side access road leading to it so you don't have to drive through the entire campground every time. Sites 16, 21, 22 also seemed to be really nice sites. The shoreline is very rocky so bring water shoes but it's so pretty and if you kayak/boat, an island not far is not far from the shore but be careful because it is a high traffic area especially during the weekends. There is a marina on site but we never did go check it out but several campers were using it for their sailboats and motorboats.Overall a beautiful area with a lot of different wildlife, a couple coves for swimming, nice camp hosts, area is clean and secluded. Close to Eureka Springs and many other fun activities and places. - Emily Pence

Starkey Campground Introduce

For local residents seeking a more tranquil and secluded "camping near me" experience on the picturesque Beaver Lake in Arkansas, Starkey Campground, located at 4022 Mundell Rd, Eureka Springs, AR 72631, USA, offers a potentially rewarding escape. You can reach them at (479) 253-5866 or their mobile number, +1 479-253-5866, for inquiries and reservations. Based on recent customer reviews, Starkey Campground boasts a beautiful natural setting with lake access, abundant wildlife, and friendly camp hosts. However, it's important for potential visitors to be aware of the campground's terrain, site configurations, and limited full hookup options.

The environment at Starkey Campground is consistently praised for its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere. Situated on Beaver Lake, Arkansas, it offers stunning shoreline views and opportunities for various lake activities. The campground is described as being "off the beaten path," which translates to a quieter and less crowded experience compared to more centrally located campgrounds. The area is rich in wildlife, with reviewers mentioning frequent deer sightings every evening, as well as plenty of birds, squirrels, and bunnies. The presence of a couple of coves suggests potential swimming areas, although specific details about beach access are not provided. For those who enjoy kayaking or boating, Beaver Lake offers a vast expanse of water to explore, including an island not far from the shore. However, kayakers should note that there isn't an easy way to put kayaks in due to the rocky shoreline. Despite the rocky terrain, the lake is described as "crystal clear and perfect for swimming and boating needs."

In terms of services and features, Starkey Campground offers a range of amenities, though with some limitations. There are approximately seven full hookup sites (electricity, water, and sewer) located at the top of the hill. The majority of the remaining sites offer just electricity, with several water spigots located throughout the campground. This means that campers in non-full hookup sites may need to walk a distance to access fresh water, and availability of closer water spigots tends to be limited. A septic dump and garbage disposal area are conveniently located at the entrance to the campground. Each campsite is equipped with tables, fire rings, and many also have lantern hangars, enhancing the camping experience. The camp hosts are described as "nice" and helpful, contributing to a positive atmosphere.

The campground also has a shower house with two rooms, offering good water pressure and temperature, although it is noted that the facility could use some updating. The bathrooms are described as "okay" but in need of pumping and deep cleaning, with concerns raised about the presence of spiders and other bugs. This is an area where potential visitors should be prepared and perhaps bring cleaning supplies if they are particularly sensitive to cleanliness in shared facilities.

A notable characteristic of Starkey Campground is its terrain. The majority of the campsites are situated on a steep hill leading down to the lake. This results in many sites being uneven, and campers are advised to bring ample leveling equipment, especially those with trailers. The campground is generally more suited for smaller trailers, as the sites are not designed for large trailers or motorhomes. However, even for smaller setups, finding a level spot might require some effort. Despite the hilly terrain, some sites are particularly desirable. Site 23 is highlighted as potentially one of the best non-full hookup sites due to its proximity to the lake, a covering over the large picnic table, a nearby water spigot, and close bathroom access. Sites 16, 21, and 22 are also mentioned as being really nice.

For those interested in boating, there is a marina on-site, although one reviewer did not personally use it. However, it was observed that several campers were utilizing the marina for their sailboats and motorboats. The marina also serves as the closest place to purchase ice, located about a mile from the campsites, although it is noted that the prices might be higher than at other locations.

While no specific promotional information is provided in the reviews, the recurring positive comments about the beautiful area, abundant wildlife, clean environment (aside from the bathroom concerns), and friendly hosts serve as strong incentives for local users seeking a more natural and secluded "camping near me" experience on Beaver Lake. The campground's proximity to Eureka Springs and other fun activities and places also adds to its appeal, offering a balance of peaceful nature and access to local attractions.

In conclusion, Starkey Campground on Beaver Lake offers a beautiful and tranquil "camping near me" option for local residents. Its secluded location provides a quieter experience with abundant wildlife and lake access perfect for boating and kayaking (despite the rocky entry). The friendly hosts and generally clean environment contribute to a positive stay. However, potential campers should be prepared for uneven and hilly campsites, limited full hookup availability, and the need for bathroom updates. Despite these considerations, the overall natural beauty and peacefulness of Starkey Campground make it a worthwhile destination for those seeking a more rustic and nature-focused camping experience on Beaver Lake.
