Woodsong RV Resort Introduce
For local users exploring "camping near me" options, Woodsong RV Resort, located at 2186 Empire St in Ogilvie, Minnesota, is presented as a property with significant potential and described by one reviewer as a "slice of heaven." However, recent feedback from visitors paints a somewhat complex picture, with contrasting views on the management and overall experience. Potential guests should carefully consider these perspectives when evaluating this RV resort for their camping needs.
One long-time visitor, who had been coming to the campground (formerly known as Hilltop) for over 20 years, expressed considerable disappointment with the changes under the latest owners, identified as Tex & Becka. This reviewer stated that the current management has made the resort "quite undesirable to visit the last few years" and characterized them as "the most strict and rude owners this campground has ever had, in my opinion." This negative sentiment is contrasted with the fond memories of previous owners who fostered a family-like atmosphere, knew guests by name, regularly interacted with them, and organized numerous weekend activities and family-friendly events that reportedly drew large crowds.
According to this long-time visitor, the vibrant weekend scene of the past has diminished, with weekend spots now often available. They suggest that the current pricing structure and new membership models may be contributing factors to this decline in occupancy. Furthermore, they noted that during the week, the office and amenities are often closed, raising questions about the value proposition for both seasonal and daily campers during those times. Specific concerns were also raised about the condition of the pool, described as having low water levels and not feeling heated.
The financial aspects under the new management also drew criticism. The reviewer mentioned that the nightly rates of $40-$80 are perceived as too high compared to state park options that offer lower prices. Additionally, seasonal rates are reportedly continuously increasing, and a new policy of charging a $75 fee for privately listing a camper for sale on the grounds was highlighted as unfavorable. This long-time visitor concluded by expressing sadness at seeing friends and family members leaving the resort due to price hikes and strict management, including instances of being reprimanded and allegedly charged for exceeding a 5 mph speed limit, which they deemed impractical and potentially damaging to vehicles.
In stark contrast, another reviewer offered a positive perspective, describing the resort as "truly a slice of heaven in this world." This individual specifically praised the strictly enforced 5 mph rule, stating that it encourages slowing down and relaxing. They also lauded the resort as a "very family friendly place" where children can enjoy themselves and parents can feel secure due to the owners' oversight, allowing them to relax as well. This viewpoint directly contradicts the negative experiences reported by the other reviewer regarding the management's strictness and its impact on the overall atmosphere.
Considering these conflicting accounts, Woodsong RV Resort appears to be a property with appealing natural attributes that some visitors have found to be a "slice of heaven." The strict enforcement of a 5 mph speed limit is presented as both a positive aspect contributing to a relaxed and safe environment by one reviewer and a source of frustration and perceived overreach by another. The availability of a pool is mentioned, although its condition and heating are questioned in one review.
The significant point of contention revolves around the management style and the perceived changes in the resort's atmosphere and pricing over time. While one long-time visitor lamented the loss of a family-like environment and criticized the strictness and increasing costs, another found the rules to contribute to a family-friendly and relaxing atmosphere. This divergence in experiences suggests that individual preferences and expectations may play a significant role in how visitors perceive Woodsong RV Resort under its current ownership.
Information regarding other specific services and amenities, such as the types of campsites available (e.g., full hookups, water/electric only), restroom and shower facilities, recreational activities beyond the pool, or any specific promotional offers, is not detailed in these reviews. Therefore, local users seeking this information will need to consult other sources, such as the resort's website or by contacting them directly.
In conclusion, Woodsong RV Resort near Ogilvie, Minnesota, is described as a beautiful property with potential for a peaceful and family-friendly getaway. However, potential visitors should be aware of the contrasting opinions regarding the current management style, pricing, and the overall atmosphere. While one reviewer appreciates the strict rules and family focus, another long-time visitor expresses disappointment with perceived rudeness, price hikes, and a decline in the sense of community. Local users are advised to weigh these perspectives carefully and seek additional information to determine if Woodsong RV Resort aligns with their individual preferences for a "camping near me" experience.

Woodsong RV Resort Reviews
Giving 2 stars only because this place has such great potential and is a beautiful property.I've been visiting this campground for well over 20 years, I grew up at Woodsong (formerly Hilltop) and have seen the changes in campground owners over the years. The latest owners, Tex & Becka, have made this place quite undesirable to visit the last few years. They are the most strict and rude owners this campground has ever had, in my opinion. Previous owners knew every seasonal and visitor by name and would ride around on a golf cart multiple times a day greeting everyone and even hanging out with us at our campsite. It truly felt like family.Weekend spots used to booked to the brim months in advance with many activities on weekends and tons of family friendly events and gatherings, prior to their ownership. Now, weekend spots always seem to be open, and looking at their rates and new memberships online, I can see why. During the week, the office and amenities are not even open... so what is the point of coming to the camper as a seasonal or even as a daily camper during the week? The pool has been low on water for awhile now, and it doesn't feel heated. With that, no one is going to pay $40- $80 a night when they could go to a state park for half that price. They continuously are raising seasonal rates, and have even put in their latest contract that you must pay them $75 if you list your camper for sale privately or on their grounds (such as puting a for sale sign on it). It's been very sad to see and hear so many of my close friends and family members pull out of this "resort" because they are tired of the price hikes and strict management (getting yelled at and charged for going over 5mph)... You can't even ride your breaks 5mph through a campground. It does a lot of damage to your vehicle.Overall, this used to be an amazing place.
Aug 16, 2024 · KatieTruly a slice of heaven in this world. I love the 5 mph rule is strictly enforced. It makes you slow down and relax. A very family friendly place also where kids can be kids and parents have the trust of the owners so they can relax also.
Jul 16, 2024 · Katie TolmanBeautiful, well maintained campground. Nice, clean pool. Friendly owners & guests. Very peaceful. if you are looking for a place to party loud into the night or have your kids (you) tearing around on golf carts or atv's, this is not the place for you. We appreciated the family-friendly atmosphere with established rules so we could relax/rest.
