One visitor traveling the scenic route from Bend, Oregon to Boise, Idaho specifically noted it as the "cleanest and most comfortable campground I've seen." This emphasis on cleanliness extends to its facilities, including the outhouses, which, despite being limited in number (two), are reported to be well-maintained, consistently stocked with toilet paper, and even thoughtfully equipped with air fresheners. This attention to detail contributes significantly to a positive and pleasant camping experience, setting Yellow Pine Campground apart from other options in the region.

This thoughtful layout allows families and individuals to comfortably set up their tents or camping arrangements without feeling cramped or encroached upon by neighboring sites. The generous spacing enhances the overall sense of peace and quiet, allowing campers to truly relax and immerse themselves in the natural surroundings.

One reviewer characterized it as the "best campground along hwy 26," highlighting its tranquil ambiance despite its proximity to a main thoroughfare. The limited number of visitors further contributes to this sense of peacefulness, allowing for a more intimate connection with nature and a truly restful stay.
While the campground offers essential amenities such as clean water access and well-maintained outhouses, it's worth noting that the number of restroom facilities is limited to two. However, the exceptional cleanliness and maintenance of these facilities appear to compensate for the smaller quantity, as highlighted in the positive reviews. Yellow Pine Campground Reviews
I took the "Scenic" route from Bend, Oregon to Boise, ID. I stopped at a few campgrounds along the way simply to check them out for future us with my family. I have to say this was the cleanest and most comfortable campground I've seen. While there were only two outhouses, they were clean, well stocked with TP, and even had air fresheners hanging inside. Camping spots were well spaced with plenty of room. There were also faucets for portable water. I will be back with my family.
Sep 12, 2023 · Stephen C. SchultzPeaceful, quiet with few visitors. Lots of water faucets but only 2 bathrooms. By far the best campground along hwy 26.
Jul 17, 2022 · DougBeautiful campground. Lots of room between sites although the parking area is pretty narrow and short in some of the sites. The host was friendly and helpful and the bathrooms were spotless. Water is available in a few locations and the sites have tables and fire pits.
Jun 27, 2021 · Ben GoodmanStayed here on a 5 day off grid trip to John Day and painted hills. There are a handful of sites able to accompany a 30’ travel trailer or larger motor coach. We stayed in site seven which is next to the half mile nature trail to another site. There is a large open area beyond this site and the dogs enjoyed it. It rained the day we were there and there were only two other campers in the campground. There was no T-Mobile cell service but it was peaceful in the rain. We were able to get an FM station and that was good as we got a weather alert for damaging hail that went south of us. We enjoyed this location for its isolation but went farther west to camp and explore the painted hills. The dredge in Sumpter was very cool and they let you pan for gold in the river. We visited and were very impressed with the Kam Wah Chung heritage site.
Sep 14, 2021 · James McGuireBeautiful campsite, definetly the most clean bathrooms we have ever encountered at a campground. We stopped here while overlanding to the coast. Not to crowded, nice space between sites, each site has a nice picnic table, and fire rings with grill top. Glad we stopped.
